20.01.2022 Ken works locally and internationally as a chef, In his last overseas position in a small team Ken achieved Best Westerns hotels highest Silver Service culinary award a twin Rosette the 2nd ever to be awarded. Returning home Ken continued to cook. Seeing a need in the shire Ken retrained gaining employment as a mental health support worker. Employed in this role tropical cyclone Yasi slammed into the shire, during Yasi he stayed on his property in Bilyana. In days and wit...h grateful assistance from the Army, Ken returned to work administering medication, food and other vital assistance to his clients. Knowing a number of those at most risk he was able to provide needed transport helping locals receive desperate aid and assistance. 08.01.2022 Could Ken prove his whereabouts for that day and time, if not he knew he would lose all he had and anything he may have in the future. Ken able to prove his where abouts was nowhere near the development site in Cardwell, was instead sitting with his solicitor in Cairns. 06.01.2022 Kens leadership abilities inspired and motivated many, his negotiating skills developed with the many years working with Local, State and Federal Government departments including the Queensland Police Service. Ken signed off and took responsibility for all the peaceful marches and rallies in Cardwell with the intent to draw the country’s and the world’s attention to protect our special place in the world. For the first time in our region and with money from the Federal Government, Hinchinbrook’s Dugong were fitted with satellite collars and now could be tracked in real time traveling around the regions sea grass beds. Ken played an important role in this vital research.

03.01.2022 Ken and Margaret Thorsborne stood their ground as heavy machinery attempted to clear the mangrove forest in the State Marine Park at Oyster Point. Ken and a hand full of locals inspired many from around the country and across the world to come and help protect our region. Ken’s plans and actions had focused the world’s media attention on the small town of Cardwell. The developer came out publicly saying he would stop Ken no matter what the cost. The developer meant what h...e said serving Ken with one of the first SLAPP writs Strategic Litigation against Public Participation used in Australia, to stop Ken from proceeding with any future public protests. Not long after the serving of the SLAPP writ Ken was served a notice to appear at the Supreme Court in Brisbane, claiming that Ken had been seen on the development site by a person who knew him personally and Ken was ordered to appear, the summons stating Ken was in contumelious disregard of his undertakings stated in the SLAPP writ.
