25.01.2022 We had another fabulous day at the Kendenup Town Hall Markets. We are lowering the carbon footprint and going straight to local growers, rather than buying their produce via Market City. Lovely to meet the growers and a pleasant way to spend a Friday afternoon driving around the Great Southern.

17.01.2022 Did you know Carrots are orange colored for purely political reasons? In the 17th century, Dutch breeders cultivated orange carrots as a tribute to Wilhelm von Orange - who led the fight for Dutch independence - and the color got stuck! A thousand year story of yellow, white and purple carrots was wiped out in one generation @FREIHEITmachtWAHR via Patricia Henk

07.01.2022 OPEN THE DOOR TO MOUNT BARKER Now you have an opportunity to show and tell the world what doors mean to you. Mount Barker will become a doorway to imagination, ...your imagination! Community members are invited to take part in the inaugural Mount Barker Creative Doors Celebration by designing their own door of creative passion and display it for all to see! Think outside the rectangle to create your piece of art, let your imagination run wild. Express yourself in anyway shape or form, as long as it’s a door. You can paint it, tile it, carve it, or rearrange it. You can dress it up, or dress it down, create a themed door or mural, or show the avant garde side of your artistry. Doors will be available for collection at the registration event, to be held at Corkscrew Gallery, Mount Barker on Saturday October 24. All artists, of any age, are encouraged to enter their artwork. You will have 3 weeks to finish your masterpiece before submission, judging and display. Doors will be displayed throughout Mount Barker in the festive months of December and January and create a doorway to some fun and colour for our community. For more information, please contact George Corke on 0400 621 866 or Sergeant David Johnson APM on 9851 5200 See more

05.01.2022 Meet the ABC’s latest weather reporter, Ella North! The Kendenup PS student gave Tyne Logan a hand reading this morning’s weather live from school!
05.01.2022 Mount Barker is on the Albany Highway about 360 km from Perth and just 50 km north of Albany. Although the town is located only 50 kilometres north of Albany it... has a considerably different climate. While Albany can be getting drenched by rain, Mount Barker can be bathed in sunshine. The area has become an important wine region after first test plantings were carried out in the 1960s. today more than 23 vineyards operate in the Mount Barker and Denmark region. Wheat, Sheep, Cattle and timber are also important industries in the area along with a very healthy tourism sector. There are some stunning natural attractions almost on the doorstep of the town with the best known being the Porongurup and Stirling Range. Man made attractions include the chapel and St. Werburghs and the old police station museum. The museum is far more impressive than it looks as you pass by on the road, in fact it is one of the best rural museums in the state. Mount Barker is one of the many RV friendly towns in Western Australia and offers free overnight stops for self contained motorhomes and caravans. There are many other types of accommodation available, including a caravan park, hotel and various farm stay and bed and breakfast properties.
03.01.2022 Due to other commitments in our business, we will no longer doing the fortnightly fruit and vegetable boxes. We thank everyone for their amazing support and apologise sincerely to our lovely regulars. It’s been a hard decision to make, but until the Packing Shed is up and running we are putting the fruit and vegetables on hold. We will, however, still be at the Monthly Kendenup Town Hall Markets which are resuming 8 February.
