24.01.2022 Everyone seemed to like the Saltie so I thought I would post Mr Alligator, also from @D’Aguilar Wildlife. Same tank and same techniques, for those that are interested I’m mixing studio flash light and ambient light to get these tank shots. I had to, the tank was outside! We had a marquee over the top and we blocked the light from behind me to cut out reflections. I’m really pleased with how these turned out.

22.01.2022 My old friend Dundee, a red tailed black cockatoo. He featured in our book All Animal Beings, this is a brand new photo taken last month at the fabulous D’Aguilar Wildlife just outside Brisbane. I love this expression, he is all fluffed up in a courtship display (for me! Bless!) and he is looking hopefully for a response. I lit him to try and show off the myriad colours in his feathers that we call ‘black’. So beautiful.

21.01.2022 This handsome young Saltwater Crocodile lives at @ D’Aguilar Wildlife. I have previously photographed crocs out of water and on water so I had to try underwater :-)

17.01.2022 This is Kevin, an Australian Magpie. I was feeding him some mealworms and he gave me that look when I teased him. After this he grabbed a beak full and flew to where I couldn’t take them back, and only let me get more photos when he was finished!

15.01.2022 This beautiful Barn Owl was in our book All Animal Beings. Have a great Easter Weekend everyone!

12.01.2022 Who agrees that rats make FABULOUS pets? They are smart, clean, full of personality and can be very affectionate. The key to photographing rats is TIME, they need to explore any new environment, and trying to photograph them before they have finished exploring the studio is frustrating, as you can’t get their attention. So let them explore, then try bribing them with their favourite treats.

12.01.2022 Always have been and always will be.

08.01.2022 Jack is a young Koala at @daguilarwildlife, and he performed beautifully for me. He was so inquisitive, watching everything I did, and he earned his treats. I’m really trying to up my game with colour, and I’m spending lots of time working on colour theory and how to implement it in my photos. Watch out for more of this!

08.01.2022 A beautiful female Eclectus Parrot. I’m really trying to brush up my colour work at the moment, really looking at colour theory and how to apply it to my photography. Let me know what you think!

03.01.2022 One for our friends in the Northern half of Australia ... I have to be honest, now we have moved to Tasmania, I don’t miss cane toads one little bit!

02.01.2022 The lovely Great Auntie Phyllis from @bonorong wildlife. She was so much fun to be with, even sitting on my shoulder whilst I photographed other birds! She is a Long-billed Corella, and she features in the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary 2021 calendar.

01.01.2022 I’ve tried to make this photo of a male Eclectus Parrot part of a pair with the red female Eclectus we posted a couple of days ago. What do you think? Thanks to Ben and Hannah at @DaguilarWildlife
