22.01.2022 Good Afternoon Everyone, IT has been lovely to see many of our regular clients back in the clinic with restrictions slowly easing. There has been some questioning as to why we are still so restricted within the clinic itself. ... Yes, KVS is still only allowing ONE person/customer in reception at a time. This is to protect KVS staff, and KVS customers. KVS staff really appreciate the patients and the understanding that all have given us, and we as a team can not thank everyone enough for there support during these times. We hope that everyone is still keeping safe. KVS TEAM

13.01.2022 Good Morning All, As most of you would have seen channel 7's news last night, Ticks are out and about in force. We highly recommend that if you do not have your pets on tick prevention, pop into your local rural store, pet shop or veterinary surgery to discuss what are the best products on the market for tick prevention. NOTHING IS 100% TICK PROOF, so we always recommend to perform daily finger tip checks of your pets. ... If any one has any questions please feel free to phone the clinic, or pop on in and see one of our lovely staff. Always remember to set yourself an alarm or reminder on your phone when your pet is due, and ensure you do your best to give it or apply it on the due day. Even a day over due could potentially put your pet at risk of tick paralysis. Another thing we always recommend to our clients, if you notice any early signs of tick paralysis, PLEASE phone and bring your pet straight in. Don't wait to see what happens, the earlier you treat, the better chance your pet has of a recovery. Feel free to post a picture of your beloved pet below and what tick prevention your pet is on. KVS TEAM

Thank you, KVS STAFF

10.01.2022 Good Morning all, We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a safe one. We are only closed for the public holiday on Friday, we are Open Saturday morning for appointments and back to normal come Monday. ... Dr Anstey WILL NOT BE ON CALL from Thursday 31st 5pm, until 8am Friday 1st January. If anyone is needing an emergency veterinarian during these hours, we suggest ringing the Animal Emergency Service (Tanawah) ph: 54451333 Making an appointment is essential for Saturday, as Saturdays can be very busy especially with the capacity of campers who are within Kenilworth and Imbil. 03.01.2022 Kenilworth Veterinary Surgery is both a Small and Large animal practice. As many new people move into the area and create paddocks of live stock, whether that be rescue stock or even stud bred stock, it is important to ensure that you have adequate facilities for any veterinarian to attend to your cattle for all possible procedures. The best way to ensure that your stock, yourself and your veterinarian are safe at all times when handling live stock, is to have a cattle crus...h including the yards and race to go with it. It doesn't have to be the most expensive crush, however just somewhere that your stock can be contained safely, where yourself and your veterinarian are at minimum risk of being kicked, rammed or run over. By having the above facilities this also helps keep the stress level's of your stock to a minimum and allows you to lock stock if and when they may become unwell. If anyone has any questions regarding their stock yards and what they need, please feel free to give the clinic a ring. KVS STAFF

03.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Less than 4 weeks to go before Dr Marcus is away. Contactable clinics for afterhours between the 11th and 21st of December.... 03.01.2022 Good Afternoon All, KVS has been under a massive deliberation over the last few weeks in regards to Hendra Vaccination in horses. It has come to our attention that KVS seems to be the "GO TO VET FOR UN-HENDRA VACCINATED HORSES". ... This has been a hard decision for our team to make, however we are only a 1 Large Animal man vet clinic. Kenilworth Veterinary Surgery will no longer be seeing Equine Clients who ARE NOT HENDRA VACCINATED. We have thought long and hard about this ever since the vaccine became available to Veterinarians and its not a decision we have made lightly at all. If any of our clients have any questions. Please feel free to phone us at the clinic and we will be more than happy to discuss our protocol further. KVS TEAM

02.01.2022 Good Morning Everyone, We have acquired a beautiful black desexed male cat roughly 5-6 years old from Imbil that no one seems to own. He is not microchip and was on the light side on healthy when he arrived. His appetite has improved and hes doing well. However, we are looking for a new home for him.... Hes lovely and quiet and very affectionate and would fit in to a kid friendly family not a problem at all. If you feel that you are looking for someone to join your family that is already in his adult hood, no litter tray training required please give the clinic a call. If we can not find a local home for him, he will be sent onto a rescue center to be adopted out. Thank you all, KVS TEAM

01.01.2022 OUR WINNER IS Tanya (Kenilworth) with a guess of 362gms And as you can see from the picture below the Bladder stone weighed 353gms... Congratulations Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas KVS TEAM

01.01.2022 WHY YOU CANT JUST BUY MEDICATIONS OVER THE COUNTER. There a several reasons why veterinary drugs cannot be purchased without a prescription. The most important of these is ensuring their correct use. Without an examination, your veterinarian cannot ensure your sick horse is getting the correct drugs, at the correct dose to treat their particular condition. Protecting Your Horse... Prescription drugs, such as the anti-inflammatory Phenylbutazone (Bute), are highly effective when used correctly. However, if used inappropriately and without the knowledge of your veterinarian, these drugs can be very dangerous, with disastrous and even lethal consequences. For example, if used incorrectly, Bute can: Accumulate to toxic levels over time Cause gastric and colonic ulcers Mask pain, resulting in serious untreated conditions Mask deterioration, affecting your horse’s recovery Without an examination and prescription from your veterinarian, you may be incorrectly dosing your horse or even giving the wrong medication altogether. Veterinary drugs, including antibiotics, are tightly regulated to ensure each drug is used safely and effectively. Protecting Your Vet However, using veterinary drugs without a prescription from your veterinarian not only has negative consequences for your horse. Asking a veterinarian to sell prescription medications without examining your horse risks the life of your horse and risks the loss of their veterinary license. Qualified veterinarians are professionally trained to correctly diagnose health problems and devise the course of treatment. Seeking their medical advice if your horse is sick or injured is essential to give your horse the best chance of a swift recovery. S4 Medications - Prescription Medication Schedule 4 poisons have the words PRESCRIPTION ONLY MEDICINE or PRESCRIPTION ANIMAL REMEDY at the top of the label. You can't go to your Human pharmacy and ask for an S4 medication without a script from your doctor, so we ask that you respect and do the same for us. If anyone has any questions regarding prescription medication, please feel free to phone to clinic and talk to one of our staff. We are always happy to help, but we also want to keep our jobs by following the law. RULES APPLY FOR BOTH LARGE AND SMALL ANIMAL KVS TEAM
