22.01.2022 Some parts of the state have a ‘Very High’ fire danger rating (FDR) for the next few days. So, what the heck does the term FDR even mean? If a fire were to occu...r under these conditions then it may be difficult to control and the flames could burn into the tree tops. Some homes and businesses may be damaged or destroyed, and you should only use your home as a place of safety if it is well-prepared and well-constructed. Experts use this tool to assess the potential fire behaviour, how difficult it could be to suppress a fire, and the potential impact on the community should a bushfire occur.

22.01.2022 Bushfire season has officially begun in Queensland but there is still time to prepare your property! Hazard reduction burns are a great way to reduce the fuel l...oad around your home. But if your fire will exceed two metres in any direction, you'll need a Permit to Light Fire. Here’s how: Contact your local council to see if you can have a fire. Let your neighbours know you intend to light a fire and your intention to apply for a Permit. Complete the application form including a map of the proposed burn area. Contact your local Fire Warden to submit your application.

19.01.2022 WHERE WERE YOU AS THE PEREGIAN FIRES UNFOLDED? Today marks a year since the first Peregian fire started where hundreds of people were evacuated from their ho...mes. The community watched together in shock as firies attempted to tame the huge flames in the hot, dry, windy conditions. The ABC Sunshine Coast was with you through the night as reports came through of new areas at risk. Remarkably, only one home was burnt down and no lives were lost. We'd love to hear your memories of that night.

Why not make it your local fire warden and apply for a Permit to Light Fire? ...Conducting a hazard reduction burn on your property will help stop a bushfire from starting and spreading. Not sure if you need a permit to light a fire? Fires that don’t need a permit are: Less than two metres in any direction. Lit outdoors in a proper fireplace for the purpose of cooking (e.g. BBQ and camp fires) Certain fires used by primary producers and for industrial purposes. See more

06.01.2022 IS THIS YOU?.... WE NEED YOU, VOLUNTEER TODAY....
05.01.2022 Today is Fire fighter Remembrance Day.... On the 10th Day of the 10th Month, As the Station Bell tolls, We will remember them.... What all Firefighters and their families potentially face, regardless of whether they’re full time, part time or volunteer, every day, is the fact that they may not come home. Last years’ Black Summer Bushfires demonstrated that clearly. While fortunately, no Queensland firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice in the 19-20 fire season, it came close for some. One day a year, we pause to remember those who gave everything in the line of duty, fighting to protect others, dying to protect others. Their legacy lives on. Each and every day, firefighters face uncertainty they often sacrifice their own safety to protect lives and properties in our communities, and they display a unique courage in doing so. On the 10th day of the 10th month, please honour their memory, acknowledge their supreme sacrifice and remember them and their contributions to the community. Rest Easy Brothers, your shift has ended Full Time, Part Time, Volunteer all going forward to defend all of Queensland.

04.01.2022 PEACHESTER Planned burns are taking place today and tomorrow (18 & 19 August) weather dependent at London Creek Environment Reserve. If you live nearby, ple...ase keep windows and doors closed and medication nearby if required. Planned burns help reduce the amount of fuel on the ground before bushfire season. And help plant species to survive that rely on fire to regenerate. To reduce the impact on animals, burns are lit in a manner that provides an unburnt edge to allow an escape route for wildlife. Neighbouring residents have been advised via letter. All burns occur within the requirements of a permit issued by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services - QFES. LOCATION: London Creek Environment Reserve, 368 MacDonalds Road, Peachester. For a map of the burn area and more details head to our website: https://www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au///Bushfire-Management
