22.01.2022 Were here if you need us!

21.01.2022 Summer is upon us and as the temperature rises, we start to protect our skin from the sun, but what about our teeth? Here are some tips to help you keep your teeth happy and healthy over the summer time. Staying hydrated is important as our saliva is comprised mostly of water, it is no surprise that dehydration leads to dry mouth. Besides being uncomfortable, dry mouth can contribute to the formation of cavities and bad breath. It is important to note that, once you feel thir...sty in the heat you are already dehydrated. Some swimming pools have extra high chlorine levels that can weaken your teeth. Where practical, try and brush your teeth after swimming in a chlorinated pool. Can your teeth get sun burnt? The short answer is no. Your lips on the other hand can be burnt by the sun. Always use a SPF 15+ lip balms as they are more effective than applying regular sunscreen to your lips. There are lots of reasons to smile throughout the summer time. Evidence suggests that smiling reduces stress and makes us feel good, its also contagious. So, smile way to make everyone you see have a better day!

21.01.2022 To the Kenmore community; even through for now it is business as usual, we would like to update you on our most recent actions, preventions and policies during the escalation of the COVID19 pandemic. For the health of our patients, their families and our team we ask that you please inform us if you are unwell, have travelled recently, or have been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID19. We will be calling you the day before your appointment to ask you so...me health related screening questions and confirm your time. We ask that you please clean your teeth at home before arriving to the practice, and utilise the hand sanitisers provided at reception on arrival. All magazines and childrens books/toys etc have been removed from the patient lounge, and we are undertaking extra cleaning of all areas within the practice. Before your treatment begins, we will take your temperature and ask you to use a peroxide based mouthwash. We encourage patients to attend their appointment alone, in support of social distancing. If a parent or guardian is required, please limit this to one individual, or others may wait outside. Our entire team has been briefed on our extra prevention and infection control policies and will continue to take any additional steps that are deemed necessary. If you have any questions or concerns, please dont hesitate to reach out to us. The team at Kenmore Dental Centre

21.01.2022 Accidents and injuries happen when playing any kind of sport. A good mouth guard is priceless when accident happens. Not only do they keep your teeth in place, but also adds padding between your upper and lower jaws to assist in absorbing the impact. Our mouth guards are custom made for each patient to unsure not only the best protection but also a perfect fit. Having an ill-fitting mouth guard makes people clench their teeth to keep the mouth guard in place. This clenching action impairs breathing and communication between teammates. With the sporting season picking up, now is the time to get a mouth guard for your children or yourself. Call to make an appointment or ask about our mouth guards on your next visit.

20.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE Re: COVID19 To our Kenmore Dental family, With increasing rates of confirmed COVID-19 cases, we have made the difficult decision to make major changes to our usual clinic routine. First and foremost, our aim is to prioritise the safety of the community and recognise our responsibility to reduce the risk of transmission and play a vital role in reducing the burden on the health system. ... The Australian Dental Association (ADA) has made recommendations for practices to enter Level 2 operation measures to limit the spread of this virus. Therefore from tomorrow, the 25th of March, only emergency/pain appointments and urgent dental treatment will be seen until further notice. Consequently, there have been some alterations to our regular operating hours. We will be contacting patients to reschedule appointments for non urgent treatment in the coming days. We will be continuing to screen for epidemiological risk factors prior to your appointment to protect our staff and other patients, in addition to maintaining increased measures of infection control protocol. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause, and would also like to thank you all for your continued understanding during these challenging times. Please follow our Facebook page so that we may continue to keep you updated. Stay safe x Dr. Dominika Foster and the team at Kenmore Dental Centre

19.01.2022 To celebrate International Nut Day, we thought we’d share a fact that you may not know about Brazil nuts. Did you know that 100g Brazil nuts have the equivalent radiation found in two dental X-rays?

19.01.2022 Time is running out to use up your remaining dental benefits! As the year comes to a close, we feel its important to remind our patients that most health fund cycles will restart at the beginning of the new year 2019. So dont let your health fund go to waste, its there for you to use. If you have private health insurance then now is the time to take action. Call your health fund and check to see what dental funds you still have remaining for 2018.... If you have dental funds remaining and are due for a dental check-up / clean or require any dental treatment, please book your appointment today. Leading up to the holiday season is our busiest time and our books are already filling fast.

18.01.2022 Isn’t Brisbane looking beautiful? Who else loves the jacarandas?

18.01.2022 HAPPY GRAND FINAL DAY Who will you be cheering on?

17.01.2022 ** COVID-19 UPDATE ** We thank you, the Kenmore community, for supporting us as we make daily changes to our clinical practice. We are acting on the recommendations given by the Australian Dental Association Queensland that has advised that Level 3 restrictions be observed. This means that from tomorrow, Friday the 27th of March, we will only be providing urgent and emergency treatment for people who do not meet the epidemiological or clinical criteria of COVID19. With regar...ds to aerosol procedures including the use of dental drills - the current recommendation is to avoid use wherever possible and so treatment is likely to be temporary and aimed at pain relief only. Patients with appointments that do not meet these new conditions will be contacted to have their appointments postponed. Procedures considered an emergency or urgent include: Large cavities that are causing pain or toothache Localized infection and swelling of the mouth, neck or face Serious facial or tooth-related trauma Uncontrolled bleeding Upon arrival at the practice reception, you will be required to: 1. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser and rub your hands for 20 seconds. 2. When entering the surgery you will have your temperature taken and will be asked to wash your hands for 20-30 seconds prior to sitting in the dental chair. 3. A pre-procedural mouth rinse will be required Where possible, please come alone to your appointment. We realise that limiting our services will inconvenience many of our patients, but we ask for and appreciate your understanding as we try and do our part to reduce the spread of this horrible virus. Stay safe xx The Team at Kenmore Dental Centre

14.01.2022 Chewing gum has existed in various forms for centuries. Originally created from tree saps, its now made from a blend of synthetic materials. The physical act of chewing gum increases saliva in the month which in turn neutralises the acid from food, thus stopping the harmful bacteria from attacking and damaging your teeth. Other benefits that occur while chewing gum include improved memory, enhanced cognitive powers, and reduced stress levels. Remember to always pick a sugar-free gum and chew for 20 minutes after eating.

14.01.2022 Hello Kenmore! We will be closed on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th August. We hope you all have a lovely long weekend in this beautiful Brisbane weather

13.01.2022 If your toothbrush looks like the one on the left, then its time for a replacement. As we use our toothbrushes the bristles become frayed. Once this happens your toothbrush loses its effectiveness to remove plaque. We recommend changing your toothbrush every 3 months or after you have been sick. This will ensure you dont keep any bacteria after being unwell. Children tend to brush harder and may require a new brush more frequently than adults.

13.01.2022 Did you ever see more festive receptionists?

12.01.2022 We were super excited to receive our new digital scanner this week! This piece of technology has many applications, and will enable us to take a virtual record of your teeth for treatment planning, constructing dental restorations (eg crowns), smile designing or even monitoring wear!

12.01.2022 Our appointment book is filling fast as the end of the year approaches. If you would like to be seen before the new year and have the work performed under your health fund, then please make your appointment now. Appointments for lengthy procedures such as, crowns and root canals are running out. Please check with your private health insurance to see if you have any funds remaining before your health fund resets in the new year. We will do everything possible to see you before then, but please dont leave it until the last minute to book.

12.01.2022 Have a spook-tacular Halloween, Kenmore!

12.01.2022 Over the holidays we all tend to enjoy more treats than usual. If youre diving into a box of chocolates or a rich dessert, try to rinse your month with some water afterwards. This helps remove any remaining food between your teeth and activates your saliva to stop decay. Rinsing with water is also a good idea after having red wine, carbonated drinks and coffee as it will reduce the staining effect and keep your teeth white. We hope you all have great holidays, filled with laughs and smiles

12.01.2022 Christmas Queen/Receptionist Rose’s favourite job of the whole year!

10.01.2022 Very important information how tonsils can affect your childs sleep and development, snoring is NOT normal!!!

10.01.2022 It is never too early to encourage healthy dental hygiene for kids. Your childs teeth are at risk of decay as soon as they first erupt. The good news is that tooth decay is completely preventable! A regular six- month visit to the dentist from a young age is a great way to get kids familiarized and help prevent decay. Check your childs teeth at home, generally when the first primary tooth erupts. Healthy primary teeth are white without spots or stains, and healthy gums are ...smooth and pink. Flossing should begin when your child has two teeth that are touching, which normally occurs around two to two and a half years of age. Children can brush independently by age six and we recommend adults help until then. Brushing and flossing are a very important part of your childs dental hygiene regimen. Children tend to have trouble flossing until they are around 810 years old. An excellent tool that will aid your child while they learn how to floss is the floss holder. You and your child can brush and floss together. Dental hygiene does not have to be a chore. Instead, it can be a fun bonding activity for you and your child.
