25.01.2022 Alex and Maria - our fabulous cleaners in B block, the Library and Q block. Thank you for your endless work to keep these areas tip top and looking great. Thanks for kicking us all out at 6pm and making sure staff and students have the wonderfully clean facilities they do, every day. We can't thank you enough

25.01.2022 Robyn & Penny have taken on new roles this year, supporting our Senior and Junior HUBs (places where students attend for important information, sign ins and access to their Heads of Year and Year Cos). They are the first face our students see in the HUBs and are always ready to support them anyway they can. Robyn is the glue that holds the Junior Secondary HUB together and makes it happen! Robyn greets students, manages late passes, sick students, lost items, lost students ...and teachers and creates our data walls! We couldnt do our job without her. We cant thank her enough! A huge thank you to the AMAZING Penny Hauenschild, the backbone of the Senior Hub! Penny goes above and beyond for our senior students and plays an integral role in working with the team to provide opportunities for our students in Years 10-12. The knowledge and skill that Penny brings to our team is invaluable and we are so grateful for her contribution. As a person, Penny is kind and caring, she offers great advice and enjoys a good laugh. You are a legend Penny, thank you for all that you do!

25.01.2022 Chris our Q-block cleaner does the long hours making our gallery (and the rest of the building) look great. Acres of carpet he vacuums, listening to music on his headphones. Just before six he chases us out every night. Thank you Chris for keeping the Gallery and all other areas of Q block so pristine! Bernie and Karen the rock stars of the Business and Technologies department! It is without a doubt that these two are some of the hardest working people in the school. Thank you so much! We appreciate everything that you do for our faculty and the Kenmore SHS community.

23.01.2022 3 men and a lovely lady! Our School Officers: Grounds and Facilities do a marvellous job keeping our school looking tip top and fixing anything that can be fixed! This team look after a vast array of areas; they manage and beautify our surrounding gardens, ovals, buildings and facilities that we enjoy each and every day. You probably know Darren for his hair, Ross for his smile, Kevin for his driving skills and Carolyn for her amazing Kenmore leaf sculpture. We know them for this and so much more! Thanks team for all you do - we love our beautiful Kenmore environment and that is all thanks to you!

22.01.2022 This week (8 15 November) our school celebrates NAIDOC Week. NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and this year the theme is Always Was, Always Will Be. We began celebrations today with a special assembly focusing on Australia's Indigenous defence service and Remembrance Day. There are also a number of activities planned throughout the week including deadly stories on student notices, poster activities and art projects. Wherever you live, you can take part in NAIDOC Week celebrations visit the NAIDOC Week website to find out how you can get involved: https://www.naidoc.org.au/ #NAIDOCWeek #NAIDOC2020 #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe

21.01.2022 Penny the C block cleaner is always super friendly and does a great job in keeping us clean and safe in the Science rooms. We cant thank her enough for all she does in our adventurous block! Thank you Penny! Lucy works hard to keep the E block area in pristine condition, which is no easy task given the laboratory work and Kex X rooms that are housed in that building! Lucy works tirelessly and can always been seen in the early hours and late evenings. Thank you Lucy, you do a great job!

21.01.2022 Kristal is our special Person Friday, even though she only comes to us Wednesdays and Thursdays. She is competence personified and a great well-being coach. She always cheers us up and keeps us going. Her skills are across all the Visual Arts. Shes got her own graphic design company, has learnt all the Adobe suite and is a perfect art gallery curator. We rely on her so much that wed have to say we probably couldnt function without her (and the staff room life would be less lively). Thank you Kristal for all you do!

20.01.2022 Last Friday, 20th November we said farewell to the Class of 2020 at our Valedictory Ceremony at South Bank Piazza. This group were the first cohort of Year 7s in Queensland who we welcomed to secondary schooling. Our facilities in S Block were custom made for them and the place where they began their journey on the 27th of January, 2015. Fast forward 6 years and they became the first cohort to experience a world-wide pandemic, the first to go to online learning, the first to go through the new QCE system and external assessment, and very shortly they will be the first to receive the newly appointed ATAR. Class of 2020 - your resilience, commitment and positivity have us all very excited about your prospects for the future and we wish you all the best with your future endeavours!

20.01.2022 We are excited about the arrival of our new collaborative and flexible furniture in our KEN-X classrooms! In addition to new screens, we now have a variety of seating options for the students to assist with the development of their group projects and creative skills. KEN-X students love their new learning environment, describing the furniture as very comfortable, modern, collaborative and fun!

19.01.2022 The Teaching and Learning Support staff do a fabulous job supporting both teachers and students across the school. They are the reading aides that the run the Reading Enrichment programs. There are the teacher assistants that support students in many classes; a teaching assistants day can range from a HPE class on the basketball court to an Art class in Q block to a Food and Nutrition class in the kitchen! Always on the move and always knowing when and how to best support our students needs. They are a wealth of information and support for everyone in our school. Thank you for all you do this week and every week! Carmen Coombs; Jess Cooper; JoAnne Sleep; Karen Beasley; Kay Moon; Leanne Moran; Lucy Connolly; Michelle Loder; Nicole Moloney; Paul Raynis; Sandy Van Westreenen; Yolanda van Vaardegem Julie Koest

17.01.2022 Janelle is our delightful D block cleaner. She keeps the block looking polished (not easy for a building built in 1973), blows the leaves and balances the 1000 coffee mugs that exist in our kitchen! Janelle we love your grandchildren stories, your positive attitude and your unique ability to save some people's office plants from imminent death. Thank you for all you do! :) Happy Support Staff Week!

17.01.2022 Support Staff Week This week we recognise the invaluable, hardworking support staff team at Kenmore SHS. Without their hard work and commitment to our school the students and staff would not be able to work in such a wonderful environment. They look after the school facilities, interact with community, students and staff every day and often their work is in the background or supportive in nature and therefore might not be as highly visible to the community. This week, we... want the entire Support Staff at Kenmore High to know that the school community DO know how important they are to the running of a successful school. They are vital! We will be updating Facebook with pictures, stories, poems and anecdotes about our fabulous support staff. Stay tuned and celebrate with us all week! Thank you May & Ofelia May and Ofelia are professional cleaners who show pride in every element of their job. They are always prompt and do pristine work. They clean J Block, the Activities centre and U Block. This means they have to work alongside the HPE, TALS and Social Science Staff everyday! What wonderful things these staffrooms had to say about their fabulous cleaners; They bring joy and sunshine to our morning and our evenings. They are kind and friendly to all our staff and students. J Block is made all the more special because of our dear friend May who goes way beyond in making we the teachers feel so valued. Really, we dont do enough for her. The extra care May shows for us in things like providing us with treats and washing our table clothes and tea towels etcetera is deeply appreciated - rather, embarrassing in that we cant organise ourselves enough to do it! May, shes Gold! Ofelia is so merry, She smells of strawberry. In this photo amongst thorns, You are a rose since born. Even though you are small, You are enjoyed by all. Cleanly superbly is her game, Ofelia Orlich is her name. Thank you May Sigglekow & Ofelia Orlich

17.01.2022 Dan Parkinson. The man. The myth. The legend. The locator of things and fixer of stuff. Without him the Design Technology Department would not operate! Thank you for everything that you do!

14.01.2022 As part of their joint English-HASS assessment, eight KEN-X classes were required to develop an election campaign for their own fictional political party for the local area and create promotional material to win over the support of voters. To replicate our preferential voting system, students and teachers were invited to participate in a mock election where the different parties could showcase their vision for Kenmore. With 19 political parties to choose from and almost 150 votes cast in the KeneleXions, the 'Rise Party' emerged victorious with a clear majority over their nearest counterparts the 'Kenmore One Community' having figured out the secret to success was organising preferential deals!
