25.01.2022 Today we held our annual Kennedy Day to celebrate who we are! Kennedy Day runs during Extended Form and lunchtime as a student-led day which combines the joy of learning with the fun of being a Kennedy student. The aim is to create a day that all students can enjoy. Students were entertained during the Assembly with some fun, true and false questions and a student versus staff table tennis game. We are proud to say that Mr Ashby brought home the cup! The day also included numerous food options available from the cafeteria, ice-cream, boost juice, and frozen ice-cream vans, a petting zoo and listening to student music performances! Congratulations to our Student Councillors on a well-planned event. @ Kennedy Baptist College

23.01.2022 This term in Year 11 Biology we are investigating what food types increase the growth rate of yabbies. Different groups either feed their yabbies corn, carrot, peas or pellets. This has been thoroughly enjoyable as it provides us with an opportunity to learn outside a classroom environment. - Teah Pitt, Year 11 Biology student. @ Kennedy Baptist College

20.01.2022 The staff has worked hard to get everything in place, and we are excited to share how both staff and students have been enjoying the new Technologies Centre! The new Kennedy Technologies Centre is a dedicated STEM facility that provides an excellent space for woodwork, metalwork, engineering and CAD studies. A breakout space complements the new classrooms and workrooms on the 1stfloor. The Technologies Centre is a wonderful new facility for our students to engage in cutting edge technologies and explore creative and innovative solutions for their STEM studies. Alex Allan in Year 7 said, "I think the new Technologies Centre is very advanced, like the sliding electronic doors and all the woodwork machinery and equipment. Last week was my first day in the woodwork class and I really liked it."

20.01.2022 Today was such a special day here at Kennedy as we welcomed our new 2021 Year 7 students and families at Orientation Day. Students were a bit nervous initially, but they soon felt comfortable after a few interactive games to get to know each other. Our student mentors spent time with new students throughout the day and helped them familiarise themselves with the campus. We look forward to them joining our community in February! 17.01.2022 Last week our SUBs in Schools team had a visit from one of our industry partners. Mr Wesley Van Barneveld, an ROV Engineer from Intervention Engineering came and gave the students advice on the construction of their ROV. Mr Van Barneveld helped the students improve their design of the ROV and the design of the propeller guards, focusing on reducing the amount of turbulence due to the presence of the propeller guard. Mr Van Barneveld also gave suggestions on how the wiring of the ROV could be improved and he helped the students with the underwater camera system. His input and guidance really made a difference to the construction process of the ROV and helped solve some ongoing issues they were having. Thank you so much to Intervention Engineering! @ Kennedy Baptist College

Wes spoke openly about his family, language and traditions. We hope to be able to invite him back to Kennedy to share more of his story with our students. 10.01.2022 The Year 9 students had the chance to see how static electricity works and how the Van De Graff Generator runs. We found out that static electricity is simple to make just by using a glass rod, swiping it really fast against a cloth, then trying to pick up paper. The electrons move from the glass rod to the cloth. The paper then moves towards the glass rod showing that opposite charges attract. We had so much fun! - Paige Endicott, Aimee Loosen and Phoebe Hawtree. @ Kennedy Baptist College

06.01.2022 STUDENT SPOTLIGHT Lily is a Year 11 student who loves all things art and being creative. When Lily arrived at Kennedy she was surprised at how encouraging the College environment was. The Study Skills Program and sessions in Year 11 have really helped her find what works best for her when it comes to studying and preparing for assignments and exams. Lily is very talented in Visual Arts! She recently completed a beautiful artwork called "Someone Else". It is a mixed-media se...lf-portrait that features mirrors and false reflections where reality is captured within the different mirrors. . Her advice for Year 7 students is to just do your best, whatever your best may be in your current circumstances, to go by your own standards, rather than your peers. She truly has found that the unconditional support here at Kennedy allowed her to grow to be a better person. Read Lilys interview on our website now. > https://www.kennedy.wa.edu.au//student-spotlight-lily-ove/ @ Kennedy Baptist College
