25.01.2022 perseverance and passion Many people seem to think successful people don’t suffer set backs, when in reality, they suffer more and larger defeats than the majority. If you are pushing the limits of what is possible in your sport, or your life, you will fail. You will fall. You will be defeated. The true test of a champion is their attitude after they lose, their character in defeat. Do you have the strength to get back up when life has beaten you to the canvas?... If you want to be the best, you have to do things that other people aren’t willing to do..Persevere Osu Sensei Jim Casey Kenshinkan Budo Karate - History origin, teaching Kyokushin Karate

23.01.2022 Great memory’s from the 90s K 1 1993 Andy Hug vs Nobuaki Kakuda Had the honour to referee at the K1 1993 Andy Hug vs Nobuaki Kakuda.... Such a great honour to part of the K1 - 1993 and world Seidokeikan cup 1994 and train and meet some of the all time great in martial arts Osu ... The great Andy Hug Osu By 1993 Japan's love of Andy Hug was already taking hold. The mulleted Swiss karateka had been catching eyes in Kyokushin tournaments for years with his unique kicking style and his success against larger opponents. In 1992 Hug had made the transition from Kyokushin style knockdown karate to Seidokeikan. It was during this year or so of Seido competition that K-1, the world's premier kickboxing organization at the time, made their move to secure his services. Hug's bout with Nobuaki Kikuda was shown during the first K-1 Grand Prix and captivated the audience with a new style of kicking which was completely alien in the world of professional kickboxing. K-1 televised his next five matches under Seidokeikan rules, including the tournament for the 1993 world Seidokeikan cup which Hug narrowly lost by tameshiwari (board breaking) to Masaaki Satakeindicating that though Seidokeikan is closely related to kickboxing it is still a bizarre world of its own. 22.01.2022 TAMESHIWARI BREAKING: Masutatsu yama, more commonly known as Mas Oyama, was a karate master who founded Kyokushin Karate, considered the first and most influential style of full contact karate. The late Sosai Matsutatsu Oyama trained in the mountain in solitude, for 18 months on Mt Kiyozumi. He was absolutely fanatical about his relentless training 7 days per week and 14 hours per day. Strengthening his mind, body, techniques and inner strength through hard training.... Among Mas Oyama’s many accomplishments, he is perhaps best known for introducing tameshiwari or stone breaking into the practice of modern karate. Mas Oyama reasoned that through hard training he could condition his hands to be as powerful as a hammer. Since one could break stones with a hammer, he began the practice of learning how to break boards, bricks and stones with his bare hands. This incredible power he then translated directly into his theory of fighting karate, reasoning that if he could break stones, human bones would break beneath his blows as well. Perhaps his greatest contribution to Japanese karate, therefore, was the introduction and popularization of full-contact fighting karate. At the time he won Japan’s largest tournament sponsored by Okinawa’s Shotokan karate, he was often penalized for fighting too hard, resulting in frequent injuries to his opponents. It was this experience, perhaps above all other influences, that led to his creation of Kyokushin karate. After all, Mas Oyama believed, karate is a fighting art: Without taking it to its extreme by practicing to break the body of one’s opponent (for application during real life and death struggle), one could never realize the true spiritual potential of karate. Paragraph from Kyokushin -Kan Tameshiwari is a requirement test for Kyokushin Shodan/Black Belt candidates after a gruelling grading, as a test of fortitude ( courage in pain or adversity ) Also as well as skill. With discipline and belief, training and knowledge. We become the best we can be. Always take your training seriously and do your best! OSU! 21.01.2022 ALWAYS LEAD BY EXAMPLE Be a great role model and teacher The Positive Impact Martial Arts Instructors can have guiding, inspiring our next generation of young martial artist ... A good martial arts instructor/teacher can have lasting impact as a role model. A role model is someone to look up to and someone who looks out for us. With the exception of parents, teachers truly are the most influential people in most young children’s lives. Confidence, mental strength, discipline, hard work, integrity, courage, humility and focus are just some of the life-skills that children inherit their instructor from practicing martial arts. There’s no doubt that these values transfer well into adulthood, developing strong personalities destined for success in life 9 important things to teach your children: 1) Being an Honest Personthe single most important value for children to learn. 2) The Value of Education and Academicshow knowledge can change a person’s life. 3) Impact of Food/Exercise...importance of taking care of the only body you will ever have. 4) Respect for Other Peoplethe enjoyment of your life is highly dependent on those around you. 5) Learning to Listenan overlooked, but life changing skill. 6) Good Manners/Proper Personal Conductnice, polite people are the most enjoyable people. 7) How and When to Apologize and Forgivelifetime tools to help you forgive and move on with life. 8)Friends Good Ones and Bad Onesvaluing these associations while maintaining independence. 9) Personal Responsibilityowning up to who you are and what you do. As a instructor/teacher, you’re the most important part of a young student’s life. Your love of teaching children can be infectious and inspiring to any student you teach. Remember how you nurture the courage in a students heart. 21.01.2022 THE PRICE OF SUCCESS: WHAT IT ACTUALLY TAKES TO ACHIEVE A GOAL Sometimes the people around you won't understand your journey. They don't need to, it's not for them. It’s yours ... Sacrifice is a part of life. It’s supposed to be. It’s not something to regret. It’s something to aspire to. No matter what goals or aspirations you might have, there is one thing certain: There is a price you must pay to get what you want in life. In fact, there is no sidestepping the fact that any type of success demands something from you. It’s simply the way life works and rarely will a shortcut ever get you there. Success Demands You Show No Fear; Fear is something that is likely to consistently hold you back from your desired objectives. Success demands that you overcome your fears and develop the necessary courage you need to pursue your goals with vigor, passion, and zest. You must successfully strive to overcome, or at the very least successfully manage the fear of uncertainty, the fear of failure, the fear of getting rejected or criticized, the fear of making mistakes, the fear of change, and even the fear of hard work. These are all common fears that hold people back from the life they want to live. However, they can’t hold you back, because success demands that you have no fear, and if you want to achieve any kind of success in your life, then this is something you must successfully work through. Don’t let fear hold you back; By holding onto your fears, refusing to step out of your comfort zone, you make no impact in your life or others. Life is too short to live in fear. First, acknowledge your fear. This is a huge first step. If you do just this today, you’ve done something great. Many of us have these fears, but they are at the back of our mind, unnoticed, unacknowledged, as we try to ignore them and pretend they’re not there. But they are there. And they affect us, every day, all our lives. So acknowledge the fear. I don’t think, for most people, there’s such a thing as being fearless. Most people experience fear, but they choose to act anyway. It’s easy to point at someone who is achieving awesome things or doing what they want and claim it’s because they’re fearless. More often than not they’re not without fear, but they refuse to let it hold them back. Fear helps you stay in the present moment and to focus. While the adrenaline that's released when you're scared alerts your nervous system to get into gear, norepinephrine, another hormone that is released, keeps you focused instead of panicked..... So get out there and have a go Always train hard and do your best! OSU! Sensei Jim Casey Kenshinkan Budo Karate - History origin & teaching, Kyokushin karate.

18.01.2022 Inner silence is one of the keys that will lead you to stay focused on your dreams and goals. Quiet your mind and go forth in the direction you truly want to go. THE FOLLOWING IS FROM Trust me" I'm Sensei "... John Kalaidopoulos sensei: inspirational letter from a parent FROM A PARENT: One of my friends asked "Why do you pay so much money for your kids to do martial arts?" Well I have a confession to make, I don't pay for my kids' martial arts. Personally, I couldn't care less about martial arts. So, if I am not paying for martial arts, what am I paying for? I pay for those moments when my kids become so tired they want to quit but don't. I pay for those days when my kids come home from school and are "too tired" to go their practice but go anyway. I pay for my kids to learn to be disciplined. I pay for my kids to learn to take care of their body. I pay for my kids to learn to work with others and to be good team mates. I pay for my kids to learn to deal with disappointment, when they go to tournaments but don't get that score they'd hoped for, but still have to work hard in the preparation and competition. I pay for my kids to learn to make and accomplish goals. I pay for my kids to learn that it takes hours and hours and hours and hours of hard work and practice to create a champion, and that success does not happen overnight. I pay for the opportunity my kids have and will have to make life-long friendships. I pay so that my kids can be in the dojo instead of in front of a screen. I could go on but, to be short, I don't pay for martial arts, I pay for the opportunities that the martial arts provide my kids with to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their lives and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen so far I think it is a great investment! All the above sum it up, for all true martial artist instructors who teach and guide the next generation young children Osu Come on down and have a go Traditional Karate -Fitness and Health 50 Years continuos training At the same location. Full contact, bare knuckle, "points"=knocking someone down (ie, noone counts hits, techniques thrown, or cares is a kick is stylistically pure or not as long as it downs the opponent). Punches and elbows are restricted to below the neck only, but kicks and knees are allowed anywhere (with a few restrictions such as the groin). Several styles use these rules, and many have added their own little variations. Enshin&ashihara allow a bit more grab&throw etc etc. But no matter the slight variations, they are collectively still known as knockdown karate. The "seido rules" used here is the basic knockdown karate rules variation used by seidokaikan. It mainly differs from regular (=kyokushin version, as most styles just copies it without modifications) knockdown karate rules in that in the case the fight goes on for several extension rounds with still no winner, the fighters then put on boxing gloves and goes a few rounds of glove-karate (ie. with the gloves on they are allowed to punch to the head. "scoring" is still like knockdown karate and NOT like the kickboxing it resembles). As seen in the final. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bR1K9tQquhw
