24.01.2022 Merry Christmas to everyone. Enjoy safely.

23.01.2022 Some more progress on the biggest residential deck we have ever seen, let alone built. Just the stairs left to frame up, some triple grip ties and we are ready to cover it in a 140mm merbau board

22.01.2022 Here are some photos in brief from the latest large scale reno we completed. (Full album uploaded separate) The owner had this property in dormant for a little while and wanted to turn it into an investment, however it was in need of quite a bit of work. Originally wanting to knock it down and rebuild it, he was quoted astronomical money. We gave him a price to renovate the existing, with basically everything new except for some the external brickwork.... For about 1/3 of the cost if not less, of a knock down rebuild, we gave him this. He was unsure in the direction to take when he decided to renovate and left us to get a little creative with design. We worked out all the maths and came up with a contemporary open plan home that he is wrapped with. We, re-wired, re-plumbed, re-roofed from tile to colorbond. Replaced the fascias, gutters, eaves, and storm water. Freshened up the outside and completely transformed the inside. Fully insulated the property giving it a fantastic energy rating and levelled and supported the subfloor. Take a look at the album here; https://www.facebook.com/media/set/

22.01.2022 Been working hard on the next project. We are adding a number of rooms onto the back, including a new lounge and dining room in place of the old sunroom, another bathroom, bedroom and a new laundry. Building a new deck and a pergola to top it off. The existing house will get a birthday with a fresh colorbond roof, gutters and fascia and an extended, more open plan kitchen. A new set of challenges on this one. Slab level below ground to get the minimum clearance from floor to ceiling for a useable laundry tucked away under the new bedroom.

19.01.2022 Been a bit distant on the social media front the last few months as time was scarce in the last part of 2018. Here are some of the more notable works we have done in the last part of the year before we started the large renovation we are on currently.

18.01.2022 Our latest reno has drawn to a close. Have just been waiting for a couple of trades to finish their bits and pieces and we will be back in to sort a couple of small things we can't do until they finish, and a final clean. Here are some updated photos from a few weeks ago. Photos of the completed job coming soon!

17.01.2022 We started a little bathroom reno last week. Moving along nicely, despite some complexity. The bathroom was in a bad state, which lead to larger issues, such as an external load bearing wall completely rotten. We have been moving along consistently with this project.... Replacing the damaged load bearing framework, and changing the entire lay out. Removing a small wall between the existing toilet and bathroom, which so happened to be a load bearing wall being a cut roof, rather than a truss roof. The client also requested that we drop the existing floor level so the new finished tile height in the bathroom matched the existing timber flooring instead of having the existing lip, therefore we have completely removed the entire sub floor and modified to piers to suit, and constructed the new subfloor at the correct height. Added in some shelf recesses and rearranged the doorway. Not one item within the bathroom remained in it's old position. A quick series of photos of work done to date. More to come.

15.01.2022 Before the end of 2018 we started a larger scale renovation on a 60 year old house. Obviously a knock down rebuild is still a hugely costly exercise and our reno's can make the world of difference for a fraction of the price! Client has given us a bit of free reign on the layout with this one. Very limited to what we could do already being a limited space but have managed to open up all areas in the house except the bedrooms without any additions.... Giving this little 3 bedroom the feel of a great family home. Just to name some of what we have done, we have changed the entire lay out across the living, dining, kitchen, lounge, bathroom and laundry, replaced all the old timber windows with new alloy windows, insulated the entire house, and releveled it. We have also replaced all the eaves, fascia and gutter, removed the asbestos from the dwelling and adding new colourbond cladding in its place. More photos to come.

12.01.2022 We did it! After battling with all the odds we have completed the biggest job to date in our small history. There were so many complications being an old home, with already 1 existing extension. Nothing was ever simple. We had to fight against the odds to keep the job on budget for our customer. So many issues surfaced with the existing house during the construction process, however we over came them all to provide our clients with some of the highest standard of work in the ...industry. In the end we; Extended, added an additional room, and a laundry, added an extra bathroom. Got rid of a horrible leaky sunroom and replaced it with a large open plan lounge and dining area. Removed the existing pool and deck, and replaced it all with a stunning new deck and pergola. Removed all the roof tiles and redid all the fascia, guttering and roofing out of colourbond. We also removed the old timber windows and replaced them with new alloy windows. It was an uphill battle all the way for our small team however the tears of joy from the client makes all the hard work worth it. Here are some quick pictures of the work we did. More photos to come.

09.01.2022 Here are some preview snaps from the massive deck we are building currently. Over 250sqm.

09.01.2022 Been a few weeks since the last update, as we have been busy slogging away. Here are some photos of the current extension we showed you that we are doing. We not only have extended, we have also reroofed the entire house, added a deck and will be replacing all the windows in the entire house.... We are proud to be the first ones to bring/use the new morclad (colorblond weatherboards) to sydney. Coming along well, looking good. Few more weeks and all the pieces to the puzzle will be complete.

07.01.2022 Over the past two months KBD has been working hard on a very large, detailed renovation. We have completely transformed this 1960s house into a modern open plan beauty. We completely gutted the entire thing, we opened up the old study, dining, kitchen and living areas into one big open room. Removing majority of the houses load bearing walls.... We reformatted the entire house, closing off the main bathroom and turning it into an ensuite. The access to the ensuite is now from a walk in robe we converted from a bedroom, along with the entry to the master bedroom. The laundry has been totally transformed and is now also the main bathroom. All the tiled areas have had fully controllable in floor heating installed underneath. Both bathrooms also with built in wall cisterns to hide them away. Other than the walk in robe and tiled areas we laid natural timber oak flooring throughout the house. The house was completely rewired from scratch, along with upgrading the mains from the point of attachment to the fuse box and the fuse box itself. Numerous extra power points and light switches were added. Every room with new LED Down lights and dimmer switches. We also removed the old brick chimney eye sore completely and repaired some old extension work done by the previous owner. To top this all off we also added a hardwood deck structure with Australian hardwood decking covering it, off the front of the dwelling. Here are some brief photos of before and after. More detailed photos of the build can be found in the photo album.

06.01.2022 Here are some more photos of the bathroom/toilet reno that we were working on. Some better photos coming!

03.01.2022 Deck from a little while ago finished with the landscaping, etc.

01.01.2022 After weeks of laying boards, drilling and screwing it is finished. This massive 260sqm deck took over 10,000 screws and 2000Lm of merbau decking. Fair to say we are sick of looking at screws. Good thing the next job for us isn't a deck.

01.01.2022 The house we renovated in Aranda, ACT, has hit the rental market. Some landscaping since the photos in the add. https://www.allhomes.com.au//46-jalanga-crescent-aranda-ca

01.01.2022 The latest job to add to our portfolio wasn't the biggest of jobs but involved lots of time and detail to get it looking right. A front and rear deck/pergola additions with some nice solid merbau feature posts, a merbau shed, and further inbuilt storage. With panel lift up doors under the deck and stacker bifold doors up top.
