24.01.2022 Lovely vintage Les Paul Junior - finally getting round to refurbish one of my own guitars. This started life as a single pickup model in black. Stripped the body and drilled out (not routed) the pickup cavity on the kitchen table back in the early 1990s. Installed coil taps on both humbuckers with push/pull pots (thanks to Bob Eliott). Was my main gigging guitar with Monkey Puzzle, and it never let me down.

24.01.2022 Open for repairs, parts and servicing over this Long weekend. Open all 4 days. Fix up that guitar job you’ve been putting off for ages.

22.01.2022 Filthy Trash Stratocaster rescued from garage clear-out. I’ve started working on it already, but just found thes pics that show how far gone the thing really is. Watch out for the Phoenix rising from the ashes

21.01.2022 Not looking very pretty at the moment, but the grain filler will come up a treat on the Strat body.

21.01.2022 After a day of second fix electrics in the new workshop, I found time to cut a new template for a Tele- style custom build. Hollow body with FIVE way switching to give humbucking sound as well as the classic Tele sounds!

19.01.2022 Seems this post from February when astray somehow... Here it is again after a couple of enquiries about the is guitar: Rewire on a 1970s Japanese-built SG style guitar. Lovely high quality guitar built by the venerable Matsumoku. It's been a pleasure to bring another old, great guitar back into the playing arena. Check out the pics of the original 'Made in Japan' stamped pots etc.

18.01.2022 Broken binding stuck on a lovely Mini Maton with blu-tack . And it’s my own daughter’s guitar! . Then it got worse when I saw the end binding was completely missing. (and lost) Needs some TLC next time it’s in town.

16.01.2022 Just finished a simple little fix up on this Cort acoustic. Replaced the tuner button on the bottom E. No job is too small and can be tailored to suit all budgets. Owner just wanted a cheap fix- up to make it playable again.

12.01.2022 It’s not a guitar, but just starting my Christmas Theramin project. It’s a kit from good old Jaycar.

12.01.2022 After grain filler and a 320 grit sanding - it’s got a lovely grain and will hopefully look amazing with coat or two of Tung oil. This hand-finished guitar will be available in a few weeks time. Watch this space

09.01.2022 New ‘Backshed Guitars’ workshop is up and running. It’s been a while setting up, but I’m forging ahead now with building 2 Strats, a Tele; and resurrecting the Trash Bin Strat. Still open for repairs and servicing - no job too small.

07.01.2022 The Trash Bin Strat’s fret reshaping has come up great with some lovely smooth fret ends. Next on the agenda is to get stuck into renovating the trashed body.

05.01.2022 Started work on the Strat build and trying my best to get the finish off the Trash Bin Strat.

02.01.2022 Bass gear for sale. My well gigged and stalwart bass rig has to go. Ampeg SVT Head plus 2 Hughes & Kettering cabs (4x10 and 1 x 18). Great working order and sporting a few well earned cosmetic battle scars. $1,000 the lot, plus all cables etc.
