24.01.2022 Finished off this lovely bench seat with storage cupboards for a favorite client this week. The brief was for a bench seat with weather proof storage for cushions and fire wood. 22.01.2022 That’s it! No more working on public holidays for me. Nearly had a heart attack when I kicked this poor little mate in a clients driveway. Normally I’m not phased by snakes but I definitely did a startled skipping run and yelped. (I’m so tough) It’s got to be a sign to head for the beach instead. #kentvillecarpentry #bluetounge

22.01.2022 Long overdue update but... we got the walls to fit! Being a round house there is very little room for adjustment so we were very happy when it fitted perfectly. With rain delays we have just finished getting the roof frames on. 20.01.2022 Work is well under way on our granny flat build in Galston. Lots of new systems to figure out on a round house and no dig pier system. I would definitely recommend Mega Anchors piers. Less materials and no soil removal make it a great choice for reducing the environmental impact. Tiny yards like this always present some fun design challenges but we maintained good access without compromising on the deck size or aesthetics. Recycled Australian hardwood decking boards from @ironwoodtimber came up a treat as always. 10.01.2022 Super fun Friday job doing some tricky finish carpentry today. It’s not often I get to bust out a spoke shave for finishes but this job needed lots of fiddly scribing to make it all work. It’s a lovely feeling getting to do the job right. 09.01.2022 Some times you need to get creative to make things work. This stair case went into a roof space we converted to a library in an old workers cottage. There wasn’t enough room for a full staircase so the treads alternate to allow for a full size tread each step. 07.01.2022 Guttering done. 22 corners all cut by hand. Normally an external corner would have a bracket to conceal a cut but these corners are too shallow for conventional brackets so they were cut and bent to suit. 06.01.2022 More stair cases. This one came off a deck we replaced. Again there were restrictions on where it finished and we had to angle the landing to avoid a pool fence. We used the same decking oil as the decking boards on the hand rail to tart up the treated pine. Came up very nicely.

05.01.2022 So we got the roof on our round house granny flat. It was not easy but we got there. Some jobs just need a little bit more love than others but it is worth every bit to see how excited our clients are when the dream comes together. It’s will be a fantastic space when it is done. This one is a labour of love but we love what we do so it’s worth it.
