21.01.2022 COVID-19: Wages Subsidy We understand many businesses may be concerned about retaining employees due to the economic impacts of COVID-19 (coronavirus). To help employers, the government has introduced the JobKeeper payment delivered through the ATO.... Here are the steps you need to take to get ready: * Check if you and your nominated employees meet the eligibility requirements. * Subscribe to updates on the ATO website so we can let you know when new information is available. * Notify eligible employees that you (their employer) intend to participate in the JobKeeper scheme. * Confirm with eligible employees that they agree to you being the primary employer to receive JobKeeper Payments. * Send the nominated employees the JobKeeper Employee Nomination Notice to complete and return to you. Keep the Employee Nomination Form on file. * Pay the minimum $1,500 to each eligible employee per JobKeeper fortnight. The first fortnight starts on 30 March and ends on 12 April. Alternatively, you can make one combined payment of $3,000 for the first two fortnights paid by the end of April 2020. * Enrol for JobKeeper from 20 April using the Business Portal and authenticate with myGovID. Sole traders are eligible for the JobKeeper Payment for one business participant if their business has experienced a downturn. You can find out more about eligibility for sole traders through our JobKeeper Payment scheme page. Source: www.ato.gov.au/jobkeeper

12.01.2022 FAMILY ASSISTANCE PAYMENTS To receive Child Care Subsidy and Family Tax Benefit payments from Services Australia, you and your partner/s must lodge their 201819 tax return by 30 June 2020. Lodgment deferrals do not alter this requirement. If you are entitled to family assistance but didn’t receive any payments in the 2018-19 financial year, you will also need to lodge a lump sum claim with Services Australia by 30 June 2020.... Services Australia needs your income details to balance payments for Child Care Subsidy and Family Tax Benefit. If lodgment is not made by 30 June 2020: * You may lose ongoing entitlement to Child Care Subsidy * Receive a debt and have to repay the amount received in the 201819 financial year * If you have been receiving Family Tax Benefit, you may miss out on additional payments * Receive a debt and have to repay the amount received in the 201819 financial year. If applicable, you should notify the ATO if lodgment is not required and confirm with Services Australia that you are not required to lodge. Services Australia can assist those who have special circumstances preventing them or their partner from lodging before the deadline.

10.01.2022 Work from Home Rate Increase With so many Australians working from home to reduce the risk of coronavirus, the ATO have increased the rate per hour from 52c to 80c from 1 March until 30 June 2020. This will cover expenses, including: Heating and cooling... Electricity Mobile phone Internet Depreciation of office equipment You can still use other methods including the actual method to calculate your claim if you prefer; however, whichever method you choose, you’ll need to make sure you have records to support your claim. 07.01.2022 CHILD CARE SECTOR RELIEF PACKAGE Based on the Prime Minister’s Media Release of 2 April 2020, the relief package will involve additional funding for the child care sector, broadly as follows: (a) The Government will pay 50% of the child care sector’s fee revenue (presumably, this would be paid to each eligible child care and early learning centre) up to the existing hourly rate cap.... (b) The additional funding will apply from 6 April 2020, based on the number of children who were in care during the fortnight leading into 2 March 2020, whether or not they were attending care. (c) The additional funding will only be available as long as centres remain open and do not charge families for care. (d) The payments made under the relief package will commence to be made at the end of next week and will be made in lieu of the Child Care and Additional Child Care Subsidy payments. (e) Payments of higher amounts will be available in Exceptional circumstances, such as where greater funding is required to meet the needs of emergency workers or vulnerable children. (f) Until the payments are made, the Government will allow centres to waive gap fees for families who keep their children home, and families will be able to use the 20 extra absence days the Government has funded for Coronavirus-related reasons without giving up their place in a centre. (g) The new funding arrangements will be reviewed after one month, with an extension to be considered after three months. 04.01.2022 Employers: If you received initial cash flow boosts, you'll automatically receive additional cash flow boosts when you lodge activity statements from June to September 2020. You'll notice some differences in the boost amount you receive in June. The amounts will be equal to the total amount of initial cash flow boosts received and split evenly over the lodgments for the periods June 2020 to September 2020.... If you lodge: ** quarterly you will receive 50% of your total initial cash flow boosts for each activity statement ** monthly you will receive 25% of your total initial cash flow boosts for each activity statement. Both the initial and the additional cash flow boosts will be credited when you lodge your June 2020 activity statement unless you already received the maximum $50,000 of initial cash flow boosts from earlier periods.
