14.01.2022 & This week we feature 200 / 400m rising junior sprinter William Searles. Based in Rockampton, William is training to make his mark at... the upcoming QLD State & National Championships. Age: 18 Event/s: 200m, 400m Personal Best/s: 200m: 22.22 secs, 400m: 49.18 secs Coach/s: Paul Keating Club: Keppel Coast Athletics Club Q. Who is the person who has guided you the most during your athletics? A. My coach Paul Keating Q. The 400 metres is a gruelling event. What is the toughest session that you do in training? A. All the pre-season work is pretty gruelling. I also do 3 sets of 5x200m at better than 30 second pace which is pretty tough come the last set. Q. What is the most memorable moment that you have had to date in your track and field journey? A. It would have to be either placing 2nd in Queensland for the 400m at States as it was the first time I ever had medalled at states. Or making the national final in Perth which placed me in the top eight in Australia. 13.01.2022 In news just in...Jett Grundy has achieved an amazing new PB of 51.31 for 400m in Sydney for the men’s under 17’s. This means he is now officially 9th in Australia. Narrowly missing out on the final but wow - what an amazing result! Well done Jett!

Deon clocked 3:59.79, lowering his own T38 record by more than 5 seconds and is edging closer to the 3:57.00 world record held by Canada's Nate Reich. How awesome is that? And in Paul’s words ‘not bad for a club from the scrub’!! Couldn’t do it without you Paul!! You’re also a champ in our eyes.

The discipline and dedication along with lots of sweat has got them there. What an incredible achievement!! Our amazing coaches have done a fabulous job preparing you and we as a club are so proud of you all and look forward to hearing all about your experiences. 06.01.2022 Some great achievements from our KCAC athletes competing at the 2019 13-19yrs School State Athletics Championships held in Cairns this week!! Maygen Campbell qualified for the 200m semi finals Will ran 22.21 secs in the 200m, finishing 5th and 49.64 secs in the 400m coming second fastest. Paul says...his starts of course were powerful poetry! Ben & Jett both ran PBs in the 400m where Ben made the finals & Jett coming 9th... *** AWESOME WORK ***

05.01.2022 A note from Paul about our beach front training... This training is for all athletes (yes sprinters jumpers and throwers included) and is a great way to get some excellent base fitness before the Track and Field season starts. Training will continue during Term 1 on Mondays and Fridays. Later in the term we will be doing throws, jumps and sprint training at Farnborough on days to be advised. I will also be shortly emailing out the season calendar and club details for this season. Your club membership expires on the 31st of March and we have a new online membership system for which I will send instructions closer to the renewal time.
