07.01.2022 Ladies Golf Wednesday October 7th There’s nothing like the threat of a rainy day to sort the princesses from real golfing royalty! Unfortunately, the princesses were warm and dry while some of the lady golfers came in wet, cold and underwhelmed with the whole game! We welcomed Jan Milne to our club this week. 06.01.2022 GOLF QUIZ - WEEK 1 - ANSWERS 1) A competitor in stroke play starts a round with 13 clubs. During the front nine he broke his putter in anger. After the ninth hole he grabs another putter out of his car and uses it for the remainder of the round. What is the ruling? c. There is no penalty. You can have a maximum of 14 clubs in the bag, so the fact that old mate started with 13 clubs is his saving grace.... 2) In stroke play, Player A looks into Player B's bag to determine which club Player B used for his last stroke. What is the ruling? c. There is no penalty. Technically if we were playing for sheep stations you can't ask a person a yardage, but you can look around at things! 3) A player drives his ball off the tee and the ball comes to rest out of bounds. What is the ruling? b. There is a one stroke penalty and the player will need to hit the ball from the tee again. Watch out for this one on 1, 4, 6, 11, 12, 14, 15?, 17?, 18 4) In stroke play, a competitor's ball lies on the putting green. Before playing his next stroke he taps down the spike marks in the vicinity of the hole but not on his line of putt. What is the ruling? c. There is no penalty. Back in the day this used to be a penalty. Now just tap away all you like and give the greens keepers some assistance. While your going, fix a few plugs! 5) A player makes a practice swing and accidentally moves his ball in play with his club. What is the ruling? b. The player incurs a penalty of one stroke and must replace the ball. 6) A player drives his ball off the tee and the ball comes to rest in a hazard. What is the ruling? d. All of the above. Either go for a swim and play the ball with no penalty. Take a drop at the point of entry and go back as far as you like in line from point of entry and the pin, costing you 1 stroke penalty or load up again from the tee, and add a stroke penalty.

06.01.2022 Thursday R & R Stableford Well what can I say about Thursday’s winner Chris Waterson (6) even he was heard to say that he was in awe of himself, that he had played that well it was like he was on a different planet to everyone else. Chris had 69 off the stick to win with 44 pts to crush the rest of the field by 6 points. Chris started off Par, Birdie, Bogie then with another birdie and bogie on 6 and 7 and then going around the back nine in 2 under made for a great day for Ch...Continue reading

Dillon (8) was again in the mix, scoring 77 off the stick, to win the Ladies Stroke competition on Saturday, while Terry Turvey (15) was back in form, firing 82 off the stick to win the Men’s Stroke Monthly Medal event. Thurs...day Golf With the greens and fairways providing excellent conditions for scoring, Gary Thorne, Michelle Dillon, and Simon Shanks produced better than handicap scores in their terrific round of 38 points each. While Thorne managed to avoid a miss on his card, finishing with an excellent 2 over par 73, Dillon struggled on the par 4 seventh hole while Shanks failed to score on the par 4 tenth hole. Terry Turvey completed the ball pool with 35 points. Nearest the Pin winners: N/C (3rd), Terry Turvey (5th), Gary Thorne (9th & 13th), N/C (16th). Ron Schultze won the pen. Club President, Terry Turvey played well within his handicap, scoring a net 67 to easily win April’s Medal event. Ross Nesbit (12) was second with a net score of 72, ahead of Ron Schultze (22) who also scored a net 72. Although Turvey struggled on the back nine holes, with a birdie on the par 5 fourteenth hole as the main highlight, his steady front nine holes was the key to his great win. Nesbit was the opposite, scoring strongly on the back nine holes after an up-and-down front nine holes. Schultze too struggled on the front nine. In the Ladies Stroke Event, Michelle Dillon continues her great form, with a wonderful round of 77 (net 69) that included birdies on the second and sixteenth holes. Jean Youl was the star of the show, scoring an impressive 92 (24) 68 to win the day. She also took out the putting prize with a very accurate 25. Michelle Di...llon played a splendid shot onto the 9th green to win the Chino’s voucher. Forecast for next week is looking great, so see you next week at 9 for a 9.30 start. Thursday R & R Stroke 3rd December When 22 golfers set off on a wonderful bright sunny day, with no wind, they were about to start their game with a twist! The back nine holes were unplayable due to maintenance works. This meant that the front nine would have to be played twice. Most were able to cope with this on their score cards. Mark Henderson was the man to beat with a round of 97-34=63. Ball Pool was D Ellwood 87-22=65, Frank Ritchie 84-19=65, Don Ross 75-9=66. Saturday 5th December Monthly Medal Stroke Conditions were not at their best for the golfers, what with greens recently renovated and cold blustery weather and light showers. Just 17 ventured out, and it was a happy return to the Kerang course for James Meehan, who showed his delight being back by scoring 76-10-66, to take out the Monthly Medal. The Ball Pool was Peter hall 87-15=72, Ron Schultze 97-24=73, Tony Laughlin 83-10=73. The winner of the Pen Award was Geoff Williams again. Olive Spitty recently competed competed in Ballarat as part of a regional Northern-Murray Team.
