24.01.2022 [ ] Geraldine picked a JFREY Eyewear Design that hadn’t even hit the shelf! This model brings a new approach to the combined metal / acetate frame. Its double metal structure keeps the glasses in the acetate rim. The fineness of the metal harmonizes visually with the thickness of the acetate rims. Flexible and light, the structure is maintained by a discreet and aesthetic hinge. Add to that Geraldines fine features, her prescription lenses in a short corridor multifocal lens, including an anti reflective coating, for her best vision, and she has a show stopping complete new look that we’re proud of and she can show off!

20.01.2022 With periods of home schooling and more time at home, many kids have been on digital devices way more than we expected only a few short months ago. Long periods of focusing up close on devices may cause fatigue and eye strain - in fact studies show that up to 80% of children may experience digital eye strain symptoms. If your child has tired, dry or blurry eyes, book an eye examination today or contact us to see how we can help. www.swanhilloptical.com.au

16.01.2022 [ L i g h t i s l i f e ] Light is essential to life and sight. Sight begins when our eyes are touched by light. All day our eyes are exposed to a combination of many different light conditions, from various sources and all directions. ... Our eyes need to constantly adapt all day long to these dynamic and ever-changing light environments. As a result, light can be obstructive or harmful. It can annoy us or adversely impact vision. Our eyes are precious, but they are sensitive to light. No matter your lifestyle, occupation or passion; the need for light control is universal. Transitions lenses incorporate light Intelligence to provide protection from not only UV, but also Blue Light. The new Gen8 Transition lenses, available in 7 colours, are up to 3 minutes faster to fade back, up to 30% faster to activate and darker than ever before. Book online at www.swanhilloptical.com.au or phone 5450 3000 to discuss your options with light intelligent lenses.

03.01.2022 [ MYTH ] Sun damage is not possible on windy, cloudy or cool days.... FALSE : You can get sun damage on windy, cloudy and cool days. Sun damage is caused by ultraviolet (UV) radiation, not temperature. A cool or overcast day, like today, can have similar UV levels to a warm, sunny day. Sun damage IS possible on cloudy days, as UV radiation can penetrate some clouds, and may even be more intense due to reflection off the clouds. So if you're back enjoying sport on the weekends... and the sun hasn't made an appearance yet, make sure you still cover those precious assets. To check the daily sun protection times: online (cancer.org.au or bom.gov.au/uv), in the weather section of newspapers, or on the free SunSmart app. The sun protection times show when the UV is forecast to be 3 or above. Today we were sitting at 4 when I checked at 10.30am with a fully overcast sky! Protect your eyes - you only get one set. Book online : www.swanhilloptical.com.au Phone : 5450 3000 See more

03.01.2022 Diabetes Australia recently promoted National Diabetes Week, which is a timely reminder for Australians to more closely examine the impact of diabetes on different aspects of their health. The team at Swan Hill and Kerang Optical are encouraging diabetics to find out more about the effect of this disease on their eye health, and what they can do to help protect their vision. High and uncontrolled levels of glucose in the blood can damage blood vessels. They become leaky and ...seep fluid, in particular in the light sensitive film at the back of the eye known as the retina. The accumulation of fluid can also lead to swelling at the macula, which if left untreated, can lead to severe vision loss. The damage to the retina is called diabetic retinopathy, which is the leading cause of blindness in working age Australians. Early detection and treatment helps reduce the risk of future permanent vision loss, and we like to review diabetics every 12 months. You only get one set of eyes protect them.
