25.01.2022 Tip of the day Questions to ask during meet and greet meeting and greeting to ensure your pet has a happy and safe holiday experience -... For pet owners - think about the following: 1. What is your pet like? Describe your pet/s in detail. Active, easy-going or maybe a bit demanding? Does your pet have any behavioural problems? Lead-pulling, barking, chewing, scratching furniture etc. Is your dog/cat neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed? Preventive tick treatments? Does your pet have a cage/terrarium, which needs to be cleaned? How often and where are the supplies? Does your pet have any special needs? Special medication, feeding or a specific schedule? Make sure to describe your pet in detail to the sitter, so no surprises will surface during the booking. 2. What is the sitter like? Ask and think about the following (if the sitter hasn't already included this information in their profile): Why have you decided to become a pet sitter? Do you have pets of your own? If so, how many and what kind? What are they like? What is your experience with pets, and have you done pet sitting before? Have you participated in any classes or workshops about pet care or first aid? What would you do in case of an emergency? Do you have a car? If not, how will the pet/s be transported in case of emergency? How can you reach each other? Do you both have an emergency contact, such as a friend or family member, that can step in to help out if necessary? Will the sitter keep you updated every day? #meetandgreet #kerrispetminding #eeveeandmax

24.01.2022 Kerri's Pet Minding will be closed over easter and returning after Anzac day. I hope everyone will have a great safe holiday

23.01.2022 Can I pay the pet sitter directly or in cash? No, you need to make a reservation and pay via the website or Madpaws mobile app. This way, you and your pet sitter both demonstrate a high level of commitment to the booking arrangement, are both protected in case of cancellation and will enjoy peace-of-mind knowing the customer service team is there to help at any time. Most importantly, a booking is only covered by Pet insurance if it is confirmed and paid for through the Madpaws website or app.

22.01.2022 Daily photos & Status updates Being able to give daily updates is important. Daily I look for ways to provide Pet Owners with feedback, with a short message and a photo about how their pet is going will help to relieve their anxiety they are feeling for leaving their pet with a stranger.

22.01.2022 Employee of the Week Loulou 3 year old pug x Likes - sitting on your lap and watching you eat... Dislikes - being away from Aires See more

22.01.2022 Golden Rules part B Always leave instructions for House Sitters and get them to demo using your house key in front of you before you leave. You don't want to leave them homeless in case it doesn't fit for any reason. Always leave a review for the Sitter after the stay - they love receiving them - and it tells other Pet Owners whether you had a good experience using their service.... Now please relax, and enjoy your hard-earned trip away! Expect to receive daily photo updates.

22.01.2022 Tip of the day - Enrichment I love puzzle toys, and your dog will too. Often recommended by dog behaviorists, interactive dog toys are designed to help keep your dog busy while youre away. I have a great selection of puzzle games and treat toys. Enrichment helps satisfy both the physical and psychological needs of animals and allows them to make choices.

15.01.2022 Tip of the day Questions to ask your pet minder Home Boarding & Daycare... What does a regular day look like for the sitter? Make sure this matches well with your dog's needs. Does the sitter have a full-time job or hobbies which take up time? What is the sitter planning on doing with your pet/s? Playing, cuddling, brushing? How long, where and when will dog walks occur? What does the sitter's home look like? Is it appropriately pet-proof? Secure fences and gates? Is the garden big enough? Are there any quiet areas where your pet can sleep calmly? What about the surrounding areas - are there nice places to visit during a dog walk? What items should you bring for your dog? Favourite toys, food, basket, blanket? Watch how your pet behaves at the sitter's home during the meet and greet. Did your dog walk together go well? If your dog is sniffing around happily, this means they are relaxed and calm. House Visits What does a regular day look like for the sitter? Make sure this matches well with your pet's needs. Does the sitter have a full-time job or hobbies which take up time? How long is each visit? What is included in them? Think about emptying the letterbox, watering the plants and taking out the bins, etc. 5. Dog Walking - it's a good idea to have a trial dog walk during the meet and greet. What is the dog sitter like around your dog? Does your dog feel comfortable when the sitter takes the leash? Is the sitter familiar with dog training techniques? What techniques does she/he use? Is the sitter familiar with dog behaviour and body language? Is training or playing included in the walks? How long are the walks (distance or time)? What will the sitter do if it rains or is too hot during the walk? Remember to discuss practical matters too - keep a towel near your front door in case of muddy pawprints and provide plenty of doggy poo bags! In all cases: clear arrangements upfront prevent confusion and disappointment later on. Write down your agreements, prepare instructions for the pet sitter so that both of you are super clear what needs to happen. If the chemistry isnt quite right or expectations arent landing on the same page, no one need feel uncomfortable saying thanks, but no thanks! A meet and greet is always obligation-free. #kerrispetminding #meetandgreet #Questionstoask

But don't you worry~ the find people at SAM found a place for me in their foster care system, that is, until I find a home of my own.... A note from my foster parents: "Sansa has beautiful white coat with unique markings of ginger, black and champagne. She is a playful kitten who adores the company of other cats and people. We therefore think she will suit a variety of homes. My adoption fee is $200 and covers my 1st vaccination, de-sexing, microchip, worming, flea treatment and vet check. I will be ready for my forever home once I am 9 weeks of age and vet work has been completed If you think I could be the perfect match for you, please email the team at [email protected].

05.01.2022 How to assemble a basic first aid kit: A first aid kit for a large dog will differ from a cat kit in the sizes of the bandages and other items, but the basic components are the same. Your veterinary healthcare team may have a sample kit to show you, or a kit list they recommend so be sure to check with them first. Your pharmacy and veterinarian have all of the supplies you will need. Select a storage container that allows you to organize your supplies neatly. A fisherman's ta...ckle box or tool organizer will do. Keep the kit out of reach of children and check it regularly for expired or depleted supplies. Some suggestions for your first aid kit: Muzzle Protective gloves Digital / rectal thermometer Rubbing alcohol Lubricating jelly Antibacterial soap Sterile rinse solution (saline, used as wound flush or eyewash) Clean syringes (1ml and 5 ml) Pen light Blanket for pet transport Cotton towels Adhesive tape Gauze squares Gauze roll Stretchy bandage Non-stick sterile wound dressing Cotton wool roll Splinting item (e.g., a coffee stir stick or tongue depressor for small pets) Bandage scissors Tweezers First Aid ointment or cream

05.01.2022 Tip of the day Do we have to do meet and greet? Yes, this is absolutely essential. The pet sitter needs to get to know you and of course the pet in person.... This is the best way of determining whether the pet is a good match for the sitter and vice versa and to evaluate whether you have a good feeling about this sitter. If all is going well, it is also the best time for you owner to tell the pet sitter you everything about your pet and the care he or she needs. #Tipoftheday #kerrispetminding #meetandgreet

Always have your Pet Microchipped, and arrive to the Sitter's home wearing leashes with collars and engraved ID Tags, and Council Tags.... Always ensure your Pet is vaccinated, de-flead, wormed, de-sexed and Council Registered (and wearing Council tags) before the Meet & Greet. Always complete your Pet's Profile with a Next of Kin Name and Number who won't be away with you on holidays. Always Provide Sitters with a Veterinary contact on your Pet's Profile and with the Sitter in case of emergencies. Always brief your Pet Sitters about your pet's history, habits, health, and daily care routine. Always disclose to Sitters if your dog has a history of escapism, anxiety, or destruction. Always have a Meet & Greet with a Pet Sitter or Dog Walker for at least 30 minutes and at least 2 weeks in advance of a stay. You are mutually responsible for ensuring their property is escape-proof. Value your Sitter or Walkers time - Be on time to Meet & Greets, and drop offs or pick ups. Or communicate in advance with your Sitter or Walker if you think there will be a delay. Never offer to pay in cash. Our Insurer can't cover your Vet Bills in event of emergency or refund you if we have no record of a service occurring.
