23.01.2022 In the latest episode of my podcast, I talk about Procrastination for creatives (and how you can beat it!) Even if you're not in a creative field, I'm sure you can relate! Give it a listen and let me know if you found it helpful

19.01.2022 It's a very common question, although a difficult one to dissect - how long does it take to become a good artist? In this episode of the Podcast, I tackle this question by asking YOU some questions in return. It may help you think about the outcomes you want from your art. I hope this episode gives some food for thought!

19.01.2022 One of my favourite John Lennon quotes! A small portrait (6.4 cm x 8.9 cm) pastel drawing on black colourfix paper

18.01.2022 EPISODE 18: Ancient Drawing Our earliest record of drawing and etching is on cave walls worldwide telling our history. Australia has some of the richest from our indigenous people dating back up to 46,000 years - so why was one culturally rich example allowed to be destroyed in May 2020 by the Western Australian government? Listen to the episode here, or on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

16.01.2022 PODCAST EP 9: "Thank God For The Arts!" In these uncertain times, many of us are being asked to work from home and avoid going out unnecessarily. And how we entertain ourselves is the challenge of the day, for now! Whether it's binging on Netflix, or creating your own games and art, it's been fascinating to watch people return to basics. One thing is for sure, the creatives of the world are keeping us entertained, or inspiring us to start our own thing!

15.01.2022 One of the process shots in a recent commission completed for a special gift! A charcoal portrait of the family - for the full video of the commission check it out on my website

15.01.2022 A ‘fill the well’ walk - one of my favourite times of the year when the wattle is in bloom. Love that yellow against the beautiful blue of clear sunny day!

15.01.2022 I learnt something new today about butterflies - this one used the top wings to hover and get the nectar from the flowers and then both wings to get lift and move to the next flower! Amazing!

14.01.2022 EPISODE 17: Feelings Aren't Facts This episode looks at how your judgement of your work as an artist can be coloured by your emotions in that moment - and it's not the best thing for your work! Listen to the episode here, or on Apple Podcasts and Spotify... If you have questions and comments, drop them in the comments below - I'd love to hear them!

14.01.2022 EP 14. 'SET YOUR INTENT' Have you ever had more ideas than time? Ever wondered if those ideas fit the direction of your creative practice? In Episode 14 of the Kerry Spence Art podcast, I give my thoughts on this. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

14.01.2022 Today, Remembrance Day in PNG, we take a moment to honour and remember the brave PNG soldiers and legendary 'Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels' who died during military engage...ments, including the Kokoda Campaign of WWII - a campaign that forged a close and enduring bond between our two countries. We salute those who were lost and give thanks for the selfless help given to our diggers during the Kokoda Campaign and other WWII battlefields right across PNG by countless men, like Faole Bokoi from Manari village. Faole is said to have embodied the attributes for which the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels became known - a gentle, calm and dignified man who sadly left us in 2016. Faole's son Saii keeps the spirit of Kokoda alive, passing the legacy to future generations in his work as KTF's Logistics Officer. Lest we forget Many thanks to Kerry Spence Art for sharing this gorgeous portrait of Faole, a copy of which has made its way to the Manari community.

14.01.2022 PODCAST EP 10: An Artist’s Life Life as an artist is precarious and uncertain at times. It teaches you to be financially frugal - it teaches you to have faith in yourself and that you will find a way through whatever problems that you come up against. Your creativity will in fact support you if not in a direct monetary way, then to help heal and give support when you or someone you may know needs it. Listening as I explained creativity‘s role amongst today’s chaos and uncertainty. Questions or feedback? Let me know in the comments below.
