25.01.2022 Are you pregnant, in your final trimester? Starting to think more about planning your birth? Acupressure is a wonderful tool to have in your toolbox - to help prepare in the weeks leading up to birth, as well as reducing pain during labour. Acupressure also provides your support person (such as your partner) a valuable and central role to support you throughout the labouring; building intimacy, trust and a shared experience in the journey.... Join me in a short workshop on the 10th December (another one will run on the 17th Dec) to learn the key acupoints and techniques to apply both before and during birth. All details below and on my website. https://www.kerynhawker.com/acupressure-for-pre-birth-and-/ #prebirthacupuncture #acupuncture #acupuncturewollongong #pregnancywollongong

24.01.2022 Hello friends, I really enjoyed running a free weekly Zoom class on Acucalm over the last month while clinic was closed. I designed this routine to combine breathing, acupressure, qigong and relaxation techniques to help you feel calm and grounded, out of the head, into the body. It morphed a little over the weeks to arrive at a routine that was really beautiful. It was so beautiful that I decided I needed to create a video version of it to share. Over Zoom we ran for abou...t 40 minutes, but I have created a 20-minute video version to provide a routine that you have NO EXCUSES not to do, daily, if you need :) It's yours here, please enjoy! And if you love it, please share this link with your friends so they too can enjoy :) And I'd love to hear any feedback from you on your experience - send me a DM x #tcm #acupuncture #northernbeaches #acucalm #acupressure #qigong #relax https://mailchi.mp/1eea572c918f/acucalm-free-download

22.01.2022 Mama Base, just launched in Wollongong xx

22.01.2022 I'm delighted to be assisting Nadine this weekend on the amazing SheBirths course - a scientifically verified antenatal course to help prepare for pregnancy, labour and the journey into parenthood. And one of the most verified tools in the toolbox is acupressure (and acupuncture)! Nadine is a wealth of knowledge about pregnancy, labour and childbirth and a super fun and engaging presenter. The mood is high in the room, we're journeying together and I'm learning so much that will deepen my own practice to support women in pregnancy. Highly recommend SheBirths!! #shebirths #tcm #acupuncturewollongong

20.01.2022 I had to share, this is hilarious...

17.01.2022 Sound advice, from the Western medicine point of view https://elemental.medium.com/your-immune-system-is-your-gre

17.01.2022 Day 2 SheBirths highlights... ** The experience of birth as a journey - physical, emotional, spiritual, sexual... deepening in the room. **Observing the couples drawing closer, connecting more deeply with one another, as they prepare together and feel more ready and confident. ... **The weaving of evidence, theory, story and practical skills to really pass the information. **Recognising (again) there is so much wisdom held in Chinese medicine for pregnancy, before and after,... So cool this course, even as a non-expecting woman I found this information and experience profound on a personal level. 17.01.2022 Another beautiful post by Rohini on the first moment of bonding after birth. In Chinese medicine there is an important channel that runs along the midline on the front of our body, called the Conception Vessel, or the Channel of Bonding. This channel governs our Yin, is related to our sense of nourishment. It is activated in the baby shortly after birth and its development is complete by age two. Bonding between baby and mother enables healthy development of this channel. ...Breastfeeding, where the baby’s Conception Vessel is held against the mother’s, and nourishment is provided, is an important ritual of bonding. Developing a healthy Conception Vessel in these early years enables us later as adults to feel whole and complete in ourselves, particularly regarding nourishment and our relationships with others. How precious then, for this bonding to be allowed to happen straight after birth. Where this is not possible, and things don’t always go how we might want, spending time holding your baby against your chest in these early years, such as in a sling tied to your front will help establish this bonding and development of the Channel.

15.01.2022 I'm absolutely delighted to adorn my clinic room with a beautiful floral print of my friend's painting. I've been eyeing these florals off for a while and it's exciting to have an excuse to gaze upon one all day. Thanks Lana, your work is amazing! 14.01.2022 Hello friends, it's been a slow and gradual landing into the Illawarra and I am starting work next week from Karuna Health Care, 122 Church St Wollongong. It's a warm and cosy centre, I'm sharing a room with a Homeopath/Naturopath and also within the clinic is a Musculoskeletal Practitioner and a Counsellor. I'll provide more updates as I settle in, but I'm looking forward to getting stuck into it again. https://goo.gl/maps/FnX8iuDAbRaktsEb9

13.01.2022 After 2 months of online everything, how are your eyes doing? If they're feeling dry, tired, and blue-lighted out, then I suggest including some GOJI BERRIES in your diet. These magic little fruits have been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Known as gou qi zi, they support the Blood, Liver and Kidney which, in the Chinese medicine models, nourish and protect the eyes.... In western speak, they are full of antioxidants including zeaxanthin, which has been shown to protect against age-related eye health issues. They are also packed with vitamins A and C - a bonus in winter to help build immunity to cold and flu. Eat them straight, throw a handful on your porridge, or better still put a small handful in a cup of boiling water and drink-eat them as a tea. The hot water helps to make them easily digestible and extract their goodness. Enjoy! (I'm drinking goji tea as I write this, no joke) #tcm #acupuncture #dryeyes #gojiberry Photo by Maddi Bazzocco on Unsplash

13.01.2022 I really love Rohini's posts :)

Learn here in my blog how your emotions may be contributing to your health condition AND what you can do about it ... Please share with others who may find this information helpful in understanding their own health journey https://www.kerynhawker.com/emotions-and-health-part1/

10.01.2022 Spring: the reappearance of the sun, let your hair down, and take care of one another Spring has sprung in the Illawarra! And just as the movement of Qi in Spring is upwards and outwards, my little beets are pushing up through the soil in my garden, eager to be plucked. We can enhance our own mental-emotional-physical health by harmonising our body’s Qi with that of the season. This applies to what we eat, how we behave and our attitudes. The Classic of Chinese medicine (...Continue reading
