24.01.2022 Hi everyone and Happy Friday. Here’s my gripe for the day. How many times do you listen to professional people speak and every second word is um or ah or oh or you know. Is it just me or does this make the speaker lose credibility? Everyone is judging us every time we speak whether they realise it or not (sometimes it is a sub conscious reaction) Most of us use these filler words without even realising we do it. ... Next time you hear someone speaking, see how many filler words they use. How many do you use? Don’t worry it is quite normal but if you want to stand out from the crowd for the right reasons talk to me. I can help you overcome this habit super easily. Be awesome and have a great weekend See more

21.01.2022 Hey everyone, hope your having an awesome day I was reminiscing last night about one of our training courses with a group of experienced speakers There were 16 in the group and we got everyone to prepare a three to five minute short presentation. They all did well as expected but what surprised me most was their feedback afterwards They were actually far more nervous speaking to a small group of their friends and colleagues than they were taking in front of hundreds of peo...ple at work! The point of sharing this is to illustrate that nerves are quite normal even if you are an experienced speaker I will be adding posts and blogs in upcoming weeks to give you some seriously easy ways to overcome nerves and be your best Stay tuned and be awesome See more

21.01.2022 I was just reminiscing about a training session we held a few years ago. All the participants were experienced presenters in an outdoor group style audience environment. At times they would speak to up to 500 strangers at a time. The funny thing was they were way more uncomfortable speaking in a small room to around 15 of their peers than they were speaking to large groups of strangers! They were actually quite surprised at how nervous they were in this situation. We discus...sed it at length and worked out it was mainly because they were more likely to feel judged by their fellow presenters than a group of strangers. It was also due to the fact it was relatively unfamiliar surroundings for them. The lesson here is small changes can have a big impact on your confidence. Being prepared is the best way to overcome fear in any situation We all got a lot out of those sessions and it proved my ten key tips for public speaking are relevant at any level of presenting Let me know if you would like a free copy Stay awesome and stay tuned for more Kev See more

19.01.2022 So I just had an interesting experience earlier today. Went to do a presentation I have had booked in for a few weeks. Lady told me last week she had only managed to secure three attendees. I didnt want to cancel and let down the three people who had committed so I turned up anyway. When I walked in I got the surprise of my life! I was escorted through the main doors to a large room full of over sixty people eagerly waiting to hear from me. So from walking in thinking i was... going to have basically a conversation with maybe half a dozen people I had to step up and speak to a much larger audience than I was expecting. I took a few deep breaths, quickly re did my intro in my head and walked on stage. The presentation went really well, the audience was very receptive and the audience would never have known I was put on the spot. The main reason for this is because I WAS prepared. I just went back to my basic training, used a few of my very basic techniques in the couple of minutes prior to going on stage and it all went well. The lady hosting the presentation told me afterwards that she had done a letterbox drop since we last spoke and had an overwhelming response (thanks for the heads up lol) I am glad this happened to me just now as it was a great real life example of how basic training and relaxation techinques work so well Let me show you quickly and easily how to be prepared for any type of situation and handle it with confidence when the need arises. 08.01.2022 Just wanted to share a great experience I had with you guys this week in relation to credibility. The organizer of the event gave me a great introduction which was awesome. He actually established credibiliy for me as a speaker, let the audience know I was an expert in my field and gave a brief background about my relevant experiences - Wow! Before I even got on stage the audience were engaged and ready to listen to me! Certainly made my job easier and we had a great session.... Obviously a good introduction is a great headstart to establishing credibility with your audience. In fact it is one of the best ways you can start any kind of talk or pitch. Think back to a time you have heard someone introuduced and thought "I cant wait to hear more from this person". It really makes a difference doesn't it? Think back to another time when you have just been told " Ummm, here's Tracey, talking to us about Global Warming" So why was this particular introduction so good this week you may ask? Because I wrote it:) Not putting tickets on myself but lets face it, no one knows you better than you! He actually read word for word what I emailed him a couple of weeks prior (note here, be careful what you write) Now you won't always get the chance to do this but more often than not you will be able to. My tip is always write a great intro for yourself and get it to the organizer early. A good intro is a great way to start a presentation. On the flip side, if they don't choose to use it be prepared to use the first minute or so establishing your own credibility. Once you are onstage you are the expert Stay awesome:) - Kev See more

05.01.2022 Hi everyone and happy Friday I promised quick easy tips to reduce nerves when you are called upon to deliver a presentation My first tip is: Know exactly what you want to say and rehearse your opening two or three sentences so you know them off by heart. The first 30 seconds are generally the hardest. In fact studies have been done on many experienced speakers and their heart rates were equivalent to that of a hard run in the first minute. Thankfully it slows down really qui...ckly after that! If you know your opening off by heart you will be past the worst before you know it and conquer that talk. Sounds simple but you will be amazed the confidence this one technique will give you. Lots more tips to follow over coming weeks but feel free to drop me a line if you need any specific advice Have an awesome weekend, talk soon
