02.01.2022 Macgregor golf started in 1897 as a shoe factory before converting to golf making wooden club heads and hickory shafts. After WWII Macgregor became the leading company for Pro Peel steel shafts and the eye-o-matric woods. In the early 60s Jack Nicklaus joined the team with the Nicklaus VIP clubs. Not only was half of the US tour using Macgregor clubs, now amateurs could have the clubs that professionals used. Macgregor was also first to invent the cavity back clubs and titanium heads in the early 80s.
