24.01.2022 Congratulations to Ethan Tan who was part of the TOP ARTs exhibition opening at NGV Federation Square yesterday evening a great effort by a KHS student! There are only 45 students who get to exhibit out of around 3000 entries across the state of Victoria. Ethan Tan was a studio Arts student in year 12 in 2019, This work is one of a three part series, ANDROGNY. Through this work he explores societal ideas of masculinity and femininity, including the allocation of superficial traits, behaviours and expressions according to gender. In this closely cropped photographic self-portrait, the make-up, jewels, underarm hair, artificial pink lighting, challenge gender stereotypes and highlight the objectification of the human form. As the subject Ethan represents his honest view of himself along the gender spectrum. Well done Ethan!

23.01.2022 Congratulations to the 2019 VCE Premier's Awards winners Kew High School congratulates recipients of 2019 VCE Premier's Awards. These awards are presented to only the highest achieving VCE students in Victoria. The Top All Round High Achiever Award is awarded to students who achieve Study Scores of 46 or higher in at least five of their subjects. Only 28 students across Victoria received this award for 2019. Kew High School is extremely proud to announce that Dean Damevski (...2019 School Captain) received a Top All Round VCE High Achiever Award. Dean also received a VCE Premier's Award for Legal Studies. Maya Cohen-Miller was awarded a VCE Premier's Award for her study in Studio Arts. This is a magnificent achievement as only three awards were presented in Studio Arts across all of Victoria. Dean and Maya will attend a formal ceremony later in the year to receive their awards. Kew High School looks forward to celebrating their significant achievements with them.

22.01.2022 State Volleyball Runners up! Congratulations to the Year 7 girls volleyball team who beat off rivals Maribyrnong College, Eltham High School and Wonthaggi Secondary College to make the Gold Medal match at School Sport Victoria State Volleyball Championships on Friday. In a close final where the second set could have gone either way, the girls just fell short of Westall Secondary College. Well done to all involved. It was a really team effort and their future looks very bright and second in the State is something to be very proud of!

16.01.2022 On Monday 18 May the State Government announced an Education Infrastructure initiative. Kew High School will receive $9.76 million from the State Government to build a new 2 storey STEM Centre! The centre will include: an enquiry and research centre studio spaces for Art, Science and Technology... a new Canteen a tiered seating area for presentations multiple flexible learning spaces These new spaces will lead to exciting innovations in learning and teaching at Kew High School. One of the things we have come to appreciate over the past six weeks is the importance of people connecting with each other in the space that they share as they learn. The new STEM Centre is designed around collaborative learning to support creative and critical thinking. We are in the best possible position to appreciate how fundamentally beneficial this new STEM Centre will be for the Kew High School community.

14.01.2022 Awesome result for Kew High when Archie Critchell won the year 9 single scull at the SSV rowing held last week at Barwon River. His success comes after winning the Year 9 State Championship race on February 22 at Nagambie beating fierce competition from nearby grammar schools! Outstanding results Archie!

11.01.2022 Created by the students for the students, Kew High School Student Leaders outline the many changes in the school regarding social distancing and reducing transmissions risks.

07.01.2022 The School was thrilled to have KHS alumni: Tanaka Nzenza ’16, Miranda Norton ’12, Will Martin ’12, Erin Brissett ’08, Jack Chazan ’08 and Alex Batsis ’07 on-campus on Tuesday 18 February sharing their post school tertiary study, work and life experiences and advice with the Year 10 students as part of Harriet Lobb’s Pathways program, and supported by Elise Dunstan from Ourschool. There were many pearls of wisdom imparted to a thoroughly engaged student audience, and the alumni loved being back at school and seeing some of their teachers too. We are so grateful to these alumni for making time to reconnect and support the students and staff, and look forward to welcoming more familiar faces throughout the year.

06.01.2022 From the stars and beyond! Kew High Alum class of '13, model and actor Evan Evagora lands a key role in the upcoming Star Trek TV series. "It’s a long way from Kew High School to the final frontier, but Melbourne actor Evan Evagora has boldly gone where no Aussie has gone before.... While other homegrown actors such as Eric Bana, Wendy Hughes and Judith Anderson have guest-starred in the beloved, long-running, sci-fi phenomenon, rising star Evagora is the first Australian to be in the core cast in a Star Trek TV series. It’s a major honour, Evagora told Confidential. It was like a dream come true. Evagora, whose dramatic first role was playing Rove McManus in a Kew High School play that he wrote and cast himself in, turned away from a promising sports career to pursue acting, having won a state boxing title in his teens and playing in the VAFA and VFA for Fitzroy. After going to film school in South Melbourne, he was scouted by modelling firm that also represented actors, moving first to Sydney and then to Los Angeles, where he landed his debut role in the big-budget movie Fantasy Island, which opened globally last week." Way to go Evan! An excerpt from an article that appeared in the Herald Sun 2/23/'20
