23.01.2022 HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY!!! ***Brag alert... I live with 50 of the best young adults and 7 incredible support staff!!! On Friday w...ithout knowing anything I get a letter dropped at my door (see below) and an invitation to a surprise that is happening in the Dining Hall... the men at Kew Student Residence had organised a day to celebrate the women in our community.. they made all the girls a delicious pancake breakfast (including DF & GF options), cooked & cleaned up, they made sure all the duties were covered by men throughout the day, planned a trip to Yo-chi (yogurt place) for dessert shouting the ladies and gifted myself and Winnie Chen (our amazing chef) some gorgeous flowers! I was just blown away at their intentionality, humility and boldness in standing up and honouring us as women. No one made them plan these things and serve us in this way, it wasn’t for political correctness or to win brownie points, it was because they genuinely love the women in this community and know deep down that it is imperative for women to be honoured and respected. People are quick to bag Gen Z but with the awesome humans I live with at Res I am so excited for the future and what they will achieve. I am soooo PROUD of them! Today I am celebrating women but I’m also celebrating the men who stand up for women in our society and continue to place value upon them. Women I hope today you know how LOVED & VALUED you are..
