Federal Minister for Population, Cities and Urban Infrastructure Alan Tudge said the City Deal project put Launceston ahead of many major cities across Australia. Fifty new wireless access points have been rolled out across Launceston under the City Deal to see all public spaces in the CBD covered by the network, Mr Tudge said. While the COVID-19 pandemic has effectively put our tourism industry on hold, we want to ensure that we are ready to bounce back as a prime tourism destination when the time is right." 17.01.2022 TASWATER Announcement - Fire Hydrant testing Program Invermay area As part of its commitment to providing safe and reliable emergency water supply services throughout the State, the TASWATER will be conducting a program of fire hydrant condition assessment and flow testing in the Invermay area in coming weeks. This work will be undertaken by the TASWATER and its subcontractors, with testing in Invermay... scheduled to start from Wednesday, 2 September 2020. All planned works will be limited to between the hours of 7.00am and 6:00pm and will continue for up to three (3) weeks. As part of these tests, TASWATER and the contractor will be required to test the flow pressure and volume through each hydrant, resulting in some water flows from the reticulated water network into the stormwater management network. For safety reasons, it may be necessary for our crews to remove obstructions, where gardens, plants or tree limbs encroach on the hydrant connection point. As a result of these tests, you may notice your water is temporarily cloudy or dirty in appearance from air and/or sediments being flushed out. If this happens, please run an outside tap closest to your water meter for up to 10 minutes until the water runs clear. If you experience ongoing water quality issues after that, please contact TASWATER on 13 6992. See more
