17.01.2022 We all have a responsibility to stop the violence. 16 Days in WA draws inspiration from the global movement for 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence to drive a change in culture, behaviour and attitudes that lead to violence against women and their children. #16DaysinWA #StopTheViolence

16.01.2022 Congratulations to Bronwyn Sheehan, CEO of The Pyjama Foundation who has received the honourable Medal of the Order of Australia. The Pyjama Foundation provide children in foster care the opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning, life skills and confidence. Through the Love of Learning program, volunteers called ‘Pyjama Angels’ are recruited, screened, trained and then matched with a child in care and spend time with them once a week, focusing on learning-based activities. Pyjama Angels read books aloud with their child, play educational games and help children with their homework. Most importantly, the volunteers give foster children a chance to reach their life potential. An amazing woman doing amazing things for children in care

12.01.2022 As part of our commitment to respecting the diversity of our workforce and the children and families we serve, we are supporting them in choosing how they wish to recognise Australia Day. Through staff and community engagement, First Nations people have expressed to us how proud they are to be Australian but feel strongly that the 26 January holds a different meaning and significance - highlighting the historical and cultural challenges faced by their communities since the E...uropean settlement. So we will support our employees wishing to recognise an alternative public holiday to 26 January. One of the great things about Australia is our diversity, tolerance and democratic right to an opinion and to freely and safely express our beliefs. We are proudly Australian, and we are committed to an Australia where everyone has a voice and the right to be heard.

07.01.2022 Something that has probably been at the forefront of your mind for the past year is health. The health of you, of your family, of your friends and the people around you. World Health Day, held on April 7, is a global health awareness day, which aims to draw attention to a subject of major importance to global health. This year, the theme is ‘build a fairer, healthier world’. This theme is about eliminating health inequalities around the world. Health inequalities are preventa...ble, especially for the most vulnerable and marginalised groups. Access to health services are entirely due to the conditions in which you are born, grow, live, work and age in. World Health Day is about creating awareness of health issues, appreciating our own health and systems, and taking better care of ourselves. Whether it be physical or mental health, World Health Day aims to shine a light on these so we can live healthier lives. The day is also about creating awareness of health issues and eliminating any feelings of shame and guilt. Openly discuss health related topics in your workplace, community and family. Help health become a norm that people are willing to share and ask for help when it’s needed. To all the doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers out there we thank you for all the work you’ve done to provide better access to healthcare, and to treat, cure and aid us. Today, we acknowledge you! #worldhealthday2021

07.01.2022 Without urgent action, the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out-of-home care is projected to double by 2029. The rising tide of over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children removed from their families continues at an alarming rate, with the majority of those children permanently separated from their parents. The Family Matters Report 2020, launched today, reveals that our children continue to be removed from family and kin ...at disproportionate rates disrupting their connection to community and culture. 06.01.2022 At 11.00am on 11 November 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silence and the war ended. So how do we honour the fallen? The period of silence on 11 November 1918 still remains significant to this day. 102 years later, a minutes silence is still observed across the country. The minute of silence helps us to remember the Defence Force personnel who lost their lives for Australia in conflicts and wars. When it comes to our children, it is important that they understand th...e significance of Remembrance Day. By educating them on why Defence Force personnel have been important to our country’s history, it helps them to understand what it means to be resilient and dedicated. This helps children to learn what it means to be resilient in their own lives, and the significance of conquering their own battles. This Remembrance Day, pause to remember all the defence force personnel who have suffered and made the ultimate sacrifice. We will remember them. #lestweforget . . . www.keyassets.com.au/remembrance-day

02.01.2022 A big congratulations to Nusrat, our Assistant Director in South Australia who has celebrated 10 years with Key Assets. Nusrat started with Key Assets 10 years ago as the recruitment and panel manager in SA and has progressed through to Manger of Social Workers, Operations Manager and more recently, was promoted to Assistant Director of our South Australian office. Nusrat shares her story on her time with Key Assets:... I am focused on improving our practices and processes to ensure safety for everyone. I have always been responsible for the matching and placing of children. Although I know others could do this role I must admit I am reluctant to let go it as it gives me the most job satisfaction!! This does take up a lot of my time but it helps me keep focused on why we are here. I love watching the children that I place when they were young grow and develop and be successful in all that they do. I can see the amazing work the carers and our social workers do and the great outcomes our children and young people achieve because of their input. It has been a real privilege to watch the Assets South Australia grow and having an opportunity to be a part of our journey so far. When I first started working here 10 years ago we had 7 carer households and 9 Children in placement. Today we have 94 carer households and 113 children !! I am proud to say that I have been able to play a part in most of those placements! On a national level I have seen our organisation grow from having offices in 2 states (WA and SA) and NZ to having an office in almost every State in Australia. Key Assets are a great organisation to be a part of. I have had some great experiences and opportunities over my 10 years. Key Assets care and nurture their people. Recognising milestones for workers and carers . Key Assets invest in our people through training and providing opportunities to develop skills. Since day one I have impressed with the high standards of work expected. Key Assets values match my own values as a Social worker therefore it’s been a comfortable fit for me!! I feel that this is my forever job and Key Assets is the employer of choice!! Congratulations Nusrat

02.01.2022 Today the 20th November marks International Children’s Day. On this day in 1959 the Declaration of the Rights of the Child was adopted and in 1989 the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Nowhere is this statement more important than when children are living in foster care. Today we don’t just celebrate children for who they are, we bring awareness to children around the globe who have experienced violence, abuse or discrimination by advoca...ting for them and promoting and improving child welfare. https://keyassets.com.au/world-childrens-day #WorldChildrensDay #WeAreKeyAssets #LivesAreChanged

02.01.2022 Key Assets Australia celebrates trans and gender diverse children and young people and supports the right for gender identity to be recognised, respected, and celebrated. We envision a world where every person, no matter their gender or the way they dress, feels safe and has the opportunity to grow and thrive in school, at home, at work, and in the community. A world where transphobia is called out, challenged, and becomes a thing of the past. Read our #TransgenderDayofVisibility statement here: https://www.cfecfw.asn.au/statement-of-support-internation/
