At the end of the day, we are not teaching piano, piano is just the vehicle that we are using to nurture our students as they grow and learn so many critical life skills such as self esteem, resilience, social-emotional well-being ...and of course the journey of music!

KeyNotes is a specially designed small group program for children aged 4+ to learn the fundamentals of music and piano playing in a creative and innovative way. As a mother myself I understand the need for young children to learn through an approach that is social, engaging and fun - this is fundamental for a good learning foundation at this age.... We deliver piano lessons that nurture a love of music and piano learning Our program is designed to ensure that all learner are supported and challenged as individuals in a group setting We believe in learning creatively and through creativity. 04.01.2022 Principal KeyNotes is our most popular group piano program, suited to primary school aged children. What Happens In a Class? The initial points of learning are based around keyboard geography, learning finger numbers of both the right and the left hand, hand posture, learning to read rhythms and notation, learning to describe music using terminology centered around pitch, tempo, dynamics and instrumentation.... Every week your child will cover the following concepts: Key Listening At the start of each lesson we listen to a piece of music and pupils are asked to think about various aspects such as where might it be played, what is the mood, what character might it represent etc. This is in order to introduce them to a wide range of musical styles and describe their elements and characteristics. Key Concepts Every week students learn new concepts, such as how to read a particular note, how to find a note on the keyboard, or which notes a particular chord contains. Key Notes This is the main part of the lesson, where students can apply the concepts learnt in a practical task where they perform, compose, improvise and develop their keyboard skills. We hear each pupil perform at the end of each lesson either as a solo or in an ensemble. Key Objectives An important part of learning is for students to know what it is that they are supposed to have achieved and whether they have indeed achieved it! Stickers are given out for objectives being met. In addition to learning the Core Skills students will also learn: Music Theory Technique Aural (Ear) Training Sight-Reading Our holistic learning method includes a well-rounded curriculum and a student-centered, child focussed learning approach.
