25.01.2022 Queensland has now realigned it's stance on LDB commonly referred to as Low Density Board, Asbestolux or Duralux to be inline with the rest of Australia as Friable. WH&SQ Has provided this video to assist in identifying LDB. https://youtu.be/2wy-v3JWq9Y... One insight is it is now mandatory for all workers who perform maintenance on LDB to be trained in Identification, safe handling proceedings and the health effects of exposure. This training is to be renewed every 5 years or less. However if it was longer then 5 years ago they will require a refresher course. I will be honest, I do owner a respiratory mask fit testing service. But it is a tiny part of our overall business. ... 09.01.2022 This mornings press conference raised the question once again, "How many front line medical staff are fit tested to their RPE. As a PCBU I can not put a mask o...n one of my workers in the construction industry without 1st testing the fit of the mask. This test ensures the seal between the mask and the user's face is effective so all air breathed in by the user is through the filter. How is it that the front line medical staff are not all fit tested to their RPE? The effectiveness of their PPE is now called into question as the economy of the City of Brisbane grinds to a holt. Covid-19 is a air borne hazard, the hospitals and quarantine hotels are Workplaces and are covered by the same Regulations when it comes to PPE as my workers wearing a Mask to protect against airborne asbestos or silica dust.
