25.01.2022 You can't help but notice the Top End the landscape is dotted with tall termite mounds. To catch a glance of the majesty of these, call in to the Cathedral Mound at Litchfield. After driving by the sign impatient to sample the Buley Pools, we finally make the turn on the way home and have late afternoon peace to inspect these wonders. This morning’s rise was cloaked and daggered, wonderful to watch, not really made for the camera at very low light. The silhouettes moved at lightning speed and blurred. 21.01.2022 One from mid-week when the elusive Corellas swooped in for a quick feed leaving this baby behind. The Corellas have another month or so before they’ll feed on the grasses but who can tell? Everything is out of whack this year. 50 photos later and only a few are in focus. These birds move erratically at lightening speed. I’m either too close or too far away. But what does it matter? 19.01.2022 The walk up to Edith Falls upper pools was steep and rocky but afforded several stunning views of the falls and surrounds. As the water settles from the wet season it becomes clearer. Not tempted to swim in the upper pools though many wasted no time in cooling off after the climb. Here is one of the paths leading along the top ridge. Although between 10 and 3 is far from ideal landscape light, and seems to be my constant companion on this trip, here, it highlights the bush tints perfectly. We soon learnt, 'Pool closed' meant the authorities were yet to clear the salt water crocs out of swimming holes after the wet. @visitaustralia @ntaustralia @raw_allnature #edithfalls #kezign

01.01.2022 Rain drops against sunrise. Looks almost like an orange tree. Very Autumn rather than Spring. A total fluke. Shooting 1/80s f.13 24mm. Not at all usual for such strong light. This morning was SE windy so I headed over the hill to First Bay for sunrise. The perfect haven. Just as the sun rose, the wind gusts hit with a bucket of rain in its tail.
