16.01.2022 What difference does an "S" make? Quite a lot when talking DDG[Dried Distillers Grain] A lot is actually Brewers Grain which is the insoluble residue left from the process of making beer from barley, or distilling alcohol from corn or wheat{usually imported.] Very good for fibre content. On the other hand DDG-S [ dried distillers Grain - solubles] is a co-product of a Starch Mill. The starch and gluten are extracted from GMO free wheat in a mill thats classed as food quality... , then the alcohol for sanitizer and beverages, followed by ethanol then wheat syrup. The insolubles have been mainly removed by now and syrup is dried to produce DDG-S. High in energy, protein, 8% fat and soluble fibre. This is supposed to be the only mill in the world doing this with wheat although there are a few overseas doing it with corn. The product is 80% digestible and a great food or suppliment, in fact many stockfoods already use it. 09.01.2022 Dried Distillers Grain- Solubles comes from GMO Free wheat. The gluten and starch are extracted and what remains is distilled to remove sugar in the form of ethonal. What is left is wheat syrup, which is like corn syrup or for that matter, mollasses.This is then dried to produce DDG-S Meal, which can be used to mix with otherfeeds or run through extruder to make the pellets,We end up with a product that is highly digestible and palatable containing 21% protein, 8% starch,4% fat,32%fibre,25%sugars and all the minerals of grain. NOTHING ELSE! Not to be confused with DDG which is usually corn or sorghum mash or wet cake
