09.01.2022 There's few Saints supporters who aren't familiar with the name and image of one of our greatest-ever players, Adrian 'Humphrey' Gleeson. Whether it's due to long-time Saints recounting his first game as a teenager, to his still-talked-about 21st, to his last game in the red, white and black, or his family connection to another couple of young former Saints now gracing the AFL. Or perhaps its because it's still clear to all how much this local lad still loves the Club where... he first played the game. Here, the Warrnambool Standard catches up with Humphrey and recounts his impressive career and lingering passion for his hometown club.

07.01.2022 PREMIERS & CHAMPIONS! Santa is delivering some new silverware to Victoria Park after two Koroit Saints teams took out the Warrnambool City Netball Association Christmas Cup last night! Both the Saints 17&U and 15&U netball sides finished the six-week competition undefeated: the 17&U won last night’s final against South Warrnambool 34 to 24, and the 15&U Saints defeated Russell’s Creek 54-10.... To top it off, Saints’ Gretta Gleeson and Mia Mills were named best on court in the 17&U and 15&U games respectively. Congratulations to all players on their effort, sportsmanship and success. They weren’t the only teams participating in the Christmas Cup; we also had an Under 12s, 13&U and a second 15&U team entered in the competition. Once again, well done to these players for how they represented our Club throughout the tournament . Thank you to the WCNA for the vision and effort to create an opportunity for local junior netballers to play the game they love in 2020. We know it took a lot of work, and appreciate all that was done. And last, but never least, thank you to the Saints families who took part and put in the time and effort to coach, team-manage, umpire and support the girls so that their participation in this six-week competition was possible.

06.01.2022 SEASON 2020 - Final Siren Dear fellow Saints, With the government announcements relating to the new restrictions released over the past few days, and in particular community sport, the KFNC Committee regrettably advises that all training is now cancelled, effective immediately, and any plans for further games in 2020 have been shelved.... This is it for KFNC football and netball for 2020, sadly. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their understanding and support throughout 2020, and, in particular, those who worked so very hard to put in place the protocols required to allow the games we played to take place. As disappointed as we all are with this last and final development in a seesawing season, the health and safety of everyone at our club, and the community we provide for, comes first. Please stay safe, stay active and stay in touch with each other as we look forward to better times and playing games in 2021. GO SAINTS!!!

06.01.2022 The Koroit community is today mourning the loss and celebrating the life of one of our great local characters, Frank ‘Tuddy’ Bowman. Tuddy was a devoted supporter of the Koroit Saints, as well as many other local groups, causes and activities in our community, and touched many lives with his humour, musical ability and civic spirit. As a junior coach who worked in tandem with another Saints legend in Jack Keane, Tuddy was instrumental to many young Saints’ introduction to foo...tball at Victoria Park. He was also relied upon to help transport his young charges to and from their family’s homes to training and matches, ensuring many young lads had an opportunity to play the game. Tuddy was himself a decorated Saint, winning the Hampden Football Netball League’s 1977 Lew Kelly Medal for the Best and Fairest Reserves player, an accolade he shared that year with Warrnambool’s Ray Main. Alongside his great friends Bob Hyland and the late Tommy Brooks, Tuddy was also a mainstay at the Club’s Thursday night bingo sessions for around 28 years, colouring the weekly competition with his great jokes, singing and conversation, up until about 10 years ago. Tuddy’s easy smile and sense of humour was as reliable as his readiness to give his time to the causes that made his local community tick. The roles and odd jobs he saw-to at both our Club and the wider community were done with the kind of humility, regularity and generosity that means we may never fathom just how much Tuddy Bowman contributed although we know it was extensive, and difficult to ever replace. We offer our condolences to his extensive network of family and friends. Vale Frank ‘Tuddy’ Bowman. Thanks for the memories.

So thank you to the parents & children who did sit out this week, and for being patient and considerate of others while the company-wide testing took place. We are rapt to hear everyone has been found to be safe and well.... We join many others in our community in praising and thanking Midfield Meats owners, management, staff and families for their professional and considerate leadership in this situation. Now... to prepare for Saturday! GO SAINTS!

03.01.2022 The Saints knew they had a special talent at their disposal when Willem Drew, then only 15, made his debut in round four of the 2014 Hampden Football Netball League Inc season. He held his spot for the remainder of the season on his way to a grand final appearance. Willem had three senior premierships - and a best-on-ground medal to his name - before he was drafted into the AFL system at 18.... Via the link below, the recently-re-signed AFL player reflects on the impact this start had on his confidence and career.
03.01.2022 Last night, five Koroit Saints netball teams took to the court again for just their third match for 2020, as the Warrnambool City Netball Association 6-week Christmas Cup. The Saints 12&U, 13&U, 14&U, 15&U and 17&U sides have all enrolled in this short-season competition, relishing a chance to play, get active and wear the red, white and black once again. Thank you to the many people who have been working hard to make this post-lockdown game-play opportunity possible - parent...s, coaches, umpires, players and, most importantly, the dedicated WCNA team. We hope you realise how much we, and our Saints families, appreciate your efforts and dedication! We look forward to hearing and seeing more of the happy kids finally getting an opportunity to play the sport they love
03.01.2022 Can you even believe it would, were it not for COVID-19, be the Hampden Football Netball League Inc 2020 Grand Final Day tomorrow? To make up for the absence of that One Day in September, Warrnambool Standard speaks to two great Saints about their part in the memorable, drought-breaking flag in 2003, that many credit with setting the tone for the future of the Club.
03.01.2022 As our Saints families may be aware, Midfield Meats closed today for precautionary COVID-19 testing of all its staff. This has been a voluntary closure of the workplace - THERE ARE NO ACTIVE CASES OF COVID-19 AT MIDFIELD. This is a precautionary measure only. ... That said, the Koroit Saints ask that to continue this cautious approach, any families who work for Midfield Meats keep their children from training until testing is completed and results returned. Additionally, any parents who are wary of their children training or playing should let their childs coach know immediately. Otherwise, training this week will continue as planned for all other families and players. As always, anyone who is unwell should also avoid training or game day competition - and let their childs coach know of this decision. Otherwise, we hope everyone is keeping well and safe.
03.01.2022 HFNL RD 2 - Koroit v South Warrnambool - Saints 13&U Netball It was a tight and exciting contest in the 13&U netball today - and a rematch of the 2019 13&U Grand Final. It was South Warrnambool that prevailed on this occasion though, capitalising cleverly on some late turnovers to finish 1 goal clear.... Final score: Koroit 22 South Warrnambool 23 Players recognised today for their efforts included (L-R) Maya Cameron (award donated by Port Fairy Day Spa & Boutique) Molly McLaren (award donated by Koroit Saints) Eve Covey (award donated by Morning Noonan Night Milk Bar) Congratulations girls on a strong showing in the red, white and black. 02.01.2022 THANK YOU to everyone at the Koroit Saints who made yesterdays Rd 1 of the 2020 Hampden Football Netball League Inc happen. To those who planned, prepared, printed, posted, carried, wiped, sanitised, coached, team-managed, scored, time-kept, umpired, first-aided, socially-distanced, checked, cleaned, cheered, tooted and supported. In the true spirit of our wonderful club, we all played our role to deliver success.... A LOT of work went in to making sure our children could once again enjoy their sport in the red, white and black - and gee, it was worth it!! Who knows what lies ahead... but its satisfying to know we have a generous and hard-working Saints Army on-hand to make things happen when they need to. Thank you, Saints Supporters! #honourandrespect
02.01.2022 There’s been some key appointments at the Saints this month: Danielle McInerney is taking the reins as our Open Netball Coach in 2021, having spent the past five years coaching in our junior ranks. It’s déjà vu for our flag-winning junior mentor - she first coached our senior netball side over 20 years ago! Nick ‘Fish’ Whiting has been appointed Reserves Football Coach for 2021. One of the most popular personalities around the Club, Fish’s elevation to Coach is a natura...l progression of his leadership at The Saints. With several Senior and Reserves Hampden Football Netball League Inc flags already to his name, Andrew Foster is setting his sights on our future players, as Coach of our Under 18.5 footballers in 2021. We are thrilled to welcome TWO new junior netball coaches to Victoria Park for 2021: one-time Warrnambool Football Netball Club A Grade coach Kate Lindsey is our new 17&U netball coach, while Jenna Osbourne has been appointed mentor to our 15&U netballers.
