16.01.2022 Dinner time at Khamsa has been very special over the last two weeks for a couple of reasons. First the love and support we received from our friends and loyal customers Secondly the chance to create and cook traditional Palestinian home cooked meals and show case my culture and what I grew up eating around the table with my family no matter where in the world we were we still ate traditional Palestinian food cooked by mum and our family and community.... Finally because I have had my parents there every night cooking, and helping me serve everyone but also watching them eat and enjoy dinner Our dinner chef @nordlanderr has been a star, who started with us recently but has been helping us in the kitchen and making our desserts for dinner. Thank you to my grandparents, my parents, my aunties and uncles.... I recognise the ongoing struggle for Palestinians living under occupation, and a further 6 million Palestinians displaced around the world separated from family. I find comfort in sharing our food and thriving through our traditions. Palestinian culture revolves around food, wether it’s an everyday meal, celebration or grieving food is always apart of the ritual. I acknowledge my privilege to trade on stolen land belonging to the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation. I would like to pay my respects to Gadigal Elders past , present and emerging.
