25.01.2022 New South Wales is on the brink of exploding with epidemiologists claiming there's a 50-50 chance of seeing a surge in cases similar to Victoria. Those growing ...concerns have led the New South Wales government to introduce 14-day hotel quarantine for all Victorian travellers. It will take effect from tomorrow with the bill footed by the traveller. They will only be allowed to fly into Sydney Airport with roads closed to travellers. New South Wales recorded 12 new cases yesterday one of those without any known source. Two schools one in Newcastle and one in western Sydney will be shut today, with positive cases expected in today's numbers. More Details: https://7news.link/2DmsVMk #coronavirus #7NEWS

21.01.2022 Elliott Way road works Some time ago, following discussions with local tourism and other businesses and residents, I made representation for the earliest possib...le and safe commencement of roadworks for Elliott Way which was extensively damaged by the bushfire last summer. In particular the Cabramurra precinct in Kosciuszko National Park was badly affected by the Dunn’s Road bushfires on 5 and 6 January 2020. The bushfires stripped much of the trees and vegetation. Significant rainfall from 7 to 9 February 2020 scoured the landscape causing damage to the roadway formation along Link Road, Goat Ridge Road and Elliott Way. The scouring also caused the blockage of culverts, which then overtopped the embankments exacerbating the damage. I’d like to tell you what has been happening and the plan for remedial works. It has been assessed that remediation works will require the replacement/repair of 17km of guardrail, 730 snow poles, 1,400 guideposts and 725 road signs along some 140km of roadways in the area. The integrity and stability of the slope above Elliott Way remains a major concern with continuing rockfalls and minor slips affecting upon the road. The immediate works to remove hazardous trees, landslips and improve stormwater runoff from the fire-affected area have been completed. Snowy Hydro is undertaking problem tree management on all roads accessing the Cabramurra precinct (for long term safety), which is scheduled for completion mid-September. Completion of works and cost estimates have been reviewed by the insurance adjuster. Groundwork is scheduled to start in October/November with an expected duration of 12 weeks. The majority of the works will occur in spring and early summer with the aim to open access to the public as soon as possible in late 2020 or early 2021. NPWS estimates the total cost of repairs to be $10.4 million. The NPWS appreciates the patience and understanding of the local community while the service manages potential geotechnical or roadside hazards to maintain user safety.

12.01.2022 All Victorians must wear a mask from midnight Sunday Excerpt from the Premier Daniel Andrew’s statement today:- Today is not a good day. And as the numbers ...show, this virus does not discriminate. It rips through workplaces, sweeps through aged care settings, cuts through communities and tragically, takes lives with it as it goes. Most of today’s cases are in metro areas. But we have seen a significant jump in regional communities. It’s vital we stop this virus further seeping into regional Victoria. Last week, and based on the latest in scientific study, we announced that face coverings would be mandatory in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire. Today, and in line with the advice of the Chief Health Officer, I can announce that same requirement will apply across regional Victoria. That means from Sunday 2 August at 11:59pm, a face covering will be mandatory whenever you leave home and wherever you live. I understand this will a big step for some. But by covering your face, you’re protecting your community, and protecting those extra freedoms your community enjoys. By covering your face, you’re keeping local businesses open, and keeping local people in work. See more
10.01.2022 MASKS ON FARMS From 11:59pm on Sunday face masks will become mandatory for all Victorians when out of their homes. Premier Daniel Andrews has this afternoon ...clarified when masks need to be worn for those who live on farms. The premier called for a common-sense approach, and gave a number of situational examples of when a mask is required. Essentially: If you’re working alone on your farm and not coming into contact with other people, a mask IS NOT needed. If you’re working on your farm with people who live in the same house as you, a mask IS NOT needed. If you’re working on your farm alongside people who do not live in the same house as you, a mask IS REQUIRED. If it’s a family farm and you and members of your household, then common sense tells you that you don’t need to wear a mask, Mr Andrews said. But once you go past the front gate and go into town you would (need to wear a mask). If you’ve got staff or if you’ve got people coming to your property to make deliveries or to collect livestock for instance or if you have staff coming onto your property logic just says put your mask on because that person is not part of your household. Even though the farm is your home, that’s then a workplace. Full details on the Rural Report from 6.15am tomorrow.

06.01.2022 The tighter border restrictions that came into effect on Tuesday night would have had a significant impact on local businesses in Victoria as NSW residents woul...d not have been able to cross the border for shopping purposes, despite towns like Corryong being closer. However, the NSW for Health, Brad Hazzard, approved an exemption for remote communities late last night allowing residents in designated areas to obtain essential goods and services including food, fuel and hygiene products or disability support services. Locally, this means residents of Tooma, Jingellic, Khancoban and Bringenbrong can travel directly to and from Corryong for these purposes. Travellers are advised to carry their border permit and identification with them. See more

02.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING TINTALDRA ROAD BORDER CROSSING From 10pm this Sunday (6 September 2020), the border crossing at Tintaldra Road, Tintaldra will be close...d between 10pm and 6am, seven days per week. This decision has been made in consultation with the local community, as we have had extremely low numbers crossing overnight. There will still be access for emergency services and the crossing will be routinely patrolled, so don’t try anything cheeky! Anyone wishing to cross from Victoria into NSW during these times will need to go to either Jingellic Road, Jingellic to the west, or Bringenbrong Bridge, Bringenbrong to the east. We would like to thank the entire Riverina community for their understanding and patience as we continue with Operation Border Closure.
