12.01.2022 Hi everyone! Some of you may know me personally, or see me on the Strathfield campus running weekly events or may have met me at some point in the last four years at ACU; WELCOME! For those who I haven't met personally I also welcome you to my campaign page! My name is Khodr Obeid and I am the current president at the Strathfield campus and your candidate for the ACU National Student Association President 2021.... During my role at Strathfield, I developed valuable skills relevant to the ACUNSA role. These include: strong organisational skills working collaboratively working with ACU Staff and highly developed planning skills I also ran and partook in unique events and initiatives including: A drive in movie night that we ran in collaboration with our amazing Campus Ministry a Brush and Sip event fundraising for the Breast Cancer Foundation in 2019 and an academic amnesty survey that was developed by ACUNSA in 2020 My motivation for applying comes from my drive to transform our current student experience; currently our student experience needs more; more diverse opportunities to gain experience; more advocacy for students and their rights; and more quality experiences through university events planned by our student associations. Moving into the National presidents role will allow me to further evolve the position to be more collaborative and most importantly inclusive. I aim to achieve this through introducing: more representative rolls for minorities (Disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and other diverse communities that make up our university) Generating more potential scholarships for students who need them. This includes my ideas to create scholarships or additional help for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students, Creative and performing arts students, Clemente students and international students. and working collaboratively with students nationally, to truly understand how ACUNSA can improve your university experience. My values center around developing relationships that are built on foundations of respect; acting equitably to ensure fairness for all, and upholding our universities mission for the common good. I look forward to developing the student community collaboratively in 2021! Khodr P.S.
