We have a 40 x 20 metre sand arena and have wash bay / day yards that can be also used. $120 per lesson no refundable (unless you can find a rider to replace your spot) We can also make this a small clinic over 2 days for anyone who is really interested @$120 per horse / rider per day $15 facilty fee to cover insurances. 22.01.2022 Really happy news. Oz’s old owner who originally had him as a yearling and broke him in came to see him today and we are really HAPPY to announce they have purchased him back. It’s been a real pleasure to have had this super quirking fun little gelding here to bring into work & sell on Behalf of our client who has now also become a really good friend. ... Really good outcome for all parties & placing oz is a happy safe suitable home & back where it all began for him . 22.01.2022 For sale $2200 firm Innuendo aka enzo Sire: Reaan ... Dam: Shebeen Queen Approx 16.2hh Rising 10 year old Thoroughbred gelding. Enzo has been with us since the 27th of December 2020. He has amazing movement under saddle , also has a natural jump with scope and really enjoys jumping. Enzo is up to date with feet , teeth & worming , currently has front shoes on , needs a kind patient farrier. Enzo would excell as a all rounder , pony club , show jumping or eventer with a competent experience teen or adult rider wanting something to bring up through the grades , happily jumping approx 90 cm at home (with our showjump rider) , and happily cruised around a 70 cm show jumping course at a recent training day (approx 6 weeks ago with our show jump rider). Enzo has done a little jumping with a previous owner in south Australia and was also school by his owner / race trainer over jumps while in race work. He is a sweet gelding that is Eager to please has shown no dirt under saddle just pull out of the paddock and jump on. He has 3 beautiful gaits and the best rocking horse uphill canter. Unfortunately Enzo calling is to jump or be a all rounder and we unfortunately can’t keep every single ottb we have in for retraining even tho we wish we could. We can not wait to sit down and watch the DVDs we also received , we absolutely love manolo’s technique’s & can not wait to watch the anatomy DVD also , we are a open book always learning new insights to our training methods & the equine anatomy Thank you for this wondering gift

19.01.2022 Wow we’ve already received a couple text messages with some very good questions so not 100% relating to our first blog coming next week , but I’ll answer one that’s been on my mind since receiving this particular question. Hi Emily , We see so many off the trackers going to homes really quickly with other retrainers , but we follow your page and see you don’t rehome as many. ... My answer to that is simple. We are 99.9% self funded , Emily rides/ educates , feeds , cleans paddocks and cares for all the horses in her care 99.9% of the time along with the help of her family & close friends. We have a young rider who also competes who will come and help ride & jump a few when she is available. Emily believes in producing quality horses rather than quantities, trying to place her horses with the most suitable home & forever home, some of her ottb may stay with her for up to a year & some stay permanently such as sugar & Darci, the gates are always open to welcome any of the horses back if their new owners circumstances change which is not very often, Emily also keeps in regular contact with all her past horses she has educated for life after racing and offers on going support & lessons. While we would love to have more ottb in for retraining and rehoming it’s just would mean that they would not get that extra time with their education on the ground or in the saddle & we all know Emily is very thorough and passionate about producing her horses to a high standard for their next owner / rider and it’s Emily who puts all the hard work & dedication into these horses keeping them happy , healthy & calm with every step of their education.

18.01.2022 What a great Christmas present for this beautiful young lady Ella who has been lucky enough to purchase Harvey , Harvey is being collected early Christmas morning by Ella and her mum , we can not wait for this combination to grow into something special , and offer our ongoing support as we get to see them regularly also. 18.01.2022 Enzo is currently on hold with a deposit pending vet checks next week. Yes we will do a 7 day hold with a non refundable deposit of atleast $500 , if your seriously interested in one of our horses. We are happy to say we have sold 2 horses in the last week , even with Emily out of the saddle we’ve are amazed that people still wanted to view horses & our handy rider Mikayla was available to help us out. ... Emily’s surgery went really well even tho she is oh strict orders not to do anything for the next 48 hours , she will be back to some form of norm next week & bring some horses back into work with assistance.

18.01.2022 Very excited to be trying a new feed for our horses , made by a local equine nutritionist sue at Phoenix Feeds. Harry , Freddie , Darci & Harvey will all be starting on this sumo feed & we will keep the other 4 on our regular feeds , we will be working closely with sue over the next month to see the changes in our horses. We will also be introducing Phoenix whey powdered & b plus suppliments to their feeds also. ... Photo bombed by our youngest son who thinks it’s a good choice

18.01.2022 We have a few departures this week. Quincie has spent 6 wonderful weeks with us , we have seen this beautiful mare blossom correcting with ongoing body issues & with the super team work of our awesome body myofunction therapist sam & Damien from Macedon ranges equine therapy with their wonderful magic hands. In the 6 weeks Quincie started to gain balance and body control & engagement using that hind end & development of her strength. She has super movements & a huge canter ...for such a little but solid built mare , we thank her owner for trusting us to give Quincie the appropriate care & education in the last 6 weeks & we wish you the best on your journey with her. Oz heads home tomorrow the place will not be the same without this quirky fun little gelding , but we get to see him regularly when he comes back for visits which we are super happy about.

17.01.2022 Amazing how much a horse can change in 9 days , first photo is from the morning Darci arrived , since arriving he had shoes removed & feet trimmed , has started ulcershield & had his first pentosan injection. He is now having small hard feeds & heaps of adlib hay twice daily whilst also having access to grass. So far we’ve seen a huge difference. He had his second myofunction therapy session today and he really enjoyed it. Slow and steady will win the race with this sweet little gelding His attitude has changed so much and he seems to be much happier within his self and his coat is gleaming

17.01.2022 So with our down time we’ve been thinking of blogging , next week we will start with our first blog as everyone knows we are dedicated to retraining & life after racing with the fabulous unique breed known as the thoroughbred we will be starting our blog with what happens when a fresh ottb arrives for a spell before they start their new chapter at life after racing. If you have any questions that you would like answered in our blog please feel free to comment below so we can answer all questions in our first blog, don’t be shy we are happy to answer all relevant and realistic questions. These blogs will hopefully open the eyes to the broader equestrian community on the reality of transition from racing to equestrian mount for the ottb and what happens in between the life of racing to the transition to a pleasure or performance mount.

17.01.2022 SOLD SOLD SOLD !!! Sandhill ruler aka Tanner Rising 10 year old thoroughbred gelding ... 16.2hh at the wither rides like a 16hh horse. Sire: Danzero Dam : Ascension Tanner has been with us for a few weeks now due to no fault of his own. He is such a sweet gelding with a calm nature. Tanner was retired from racing in 2017 due to a minor bowed tendon , since then has spelled and recovered well showing no signs of lameness to his tendon what so ever. Tanner is eager to please , has been ridden on the trial by a beginner rider without a problem with his previous owner. He currently is in light work & is really easy to ride happy to walk , trot & canter both ways and is a nice ride with calm even gaits. Tanner would be a great horse for someone ready to step onto a bigger horse , a eager competent teen or adult rider looking for a project , he is very well put together and pretty to look at with such a lovely personality which is just beautiful. We will be obtaining a copy of his vet report from when he retired from racing tomorrow and this will be available for any seriously interested buyer a vet check is welcomed by any serious buyer before tanner leaves the property. He is going to make a lovely trail , dressage or pleasure horse for someone to continue on with. He is priced to sell quickly at $1500 His price will slightly increase the long he stays with us. 16.01.2022 From December 2019 up until Christmas 2020 We successfully rehomed many off the track thoroughbreds both retrained and owned by us here at kkph & on behalf of clients. Native warrior found a loving home with a equestrian centre. ... Fair verdict went off to a dressage home. Ms didion (clients mare ) is now named Tilly and is used regularly at a riding school in Northern Victoria Tatts out went to a loving home for a teenager to gain her confidence back riding & for the whole family to love in south west Victoria. Futures went off to a home is eastern Victoria where he is a very loved member of the family. Harvey headed Geelong way on Christmas Day to be a teen riders mount. Miss astronomoore could not handle the mental pressure of being ridden so headed off to a local home to breed some amazing babies we can not wait to see her first foal. Updates unfortunately had a bad run with injuries caused by another horse which was out of our control resulting in a tendon injury which deemed her unsound , so she has also joined miss astronomoore to breed some amazing babies , we where really disappointed that such injury deemed her unsound because this mare would of made a royal quality show pony. We take our time to make sure we are producing happy , relaxed horses with a great basic education to match their riders experience, we offer ongoing support once they’ve transitioned into their new home and enjoy the feedback we regularly receive from their new homes, we try and place all our horses in their forever homes and our gates are always open to welcome them back when life happens or their rider is ready to move onto their new mount.

We broke a pony in in winter 2020 for Christie for her daughters to learn how to ride on and also recently purchasing another Kia kaha performance Horses pony , Christie is also returning to riding enjoying a nice lesson or trail ride & have seeing tanner being worked and popped on for a quick ride she was happy to tell me he was sold. We will be with Chr...istie every step of the way with this beautiful gelding and will escort them on their first few trail rides to ensure they are both happy and relaxed , Christie said she will also be coming for regular lessons with tanner. 13.01.2022 We enjoyed our day off yesterday exactly what we needed..... time to rejuvenate. Back to business today , busy week ahead , we have a few viewings booked for the week ahead. Astro didn’t hit the market and has already been sold with a deposit put down , he is off to be a companion pony for a older couple north of Bendigo in the next week or so. We are also happy to announce Demi has found a beautiful home locally and is going to breed some beautiful babies (we can not wait to see them ) sometimes not all ottb can be guaranteed to be safe enough to ride , we’ve put a lot of love , time , effort and money into Demi but due to the nature of her unpredictability under saddle we’ve found her a lovely home where she is going to be used as a beautiful broodmare (we always give everyone who purchased a horse from an option to return them to us if they do not work out also). Lots of fun times ahead as we work with all the beautiful horses we have , and we will be welcoming some new arrivals over the next few weeks too.

Here at Kia Kaha Performance horses we like to expose our ottb to as many elements as we can , we believe in producing quality horses instead of quantity of ottb. ... Each individual horse has its own training plan in place with the support from our beautiful equine team including our super talented myofunction therapist, acupuncture guru , local equine vets & our vet chiro, as well as our coaches. We produce horses that will find their forever homes given the appropriate time in retraining & ongoing support into transition with their new owners , we never rush the process they have plenty of time to let down and spell and plenty of time to become a fantastic safe riding horse. 11.01.2022 Darci’s pride this gelding is one to keep an eye out for when it comes time for him to find his forever home. He has successfully been shown , has done a bit of showjumping & cross country also. He has a bit of a story to how he ended up with us at no fault of his own, this is his 9th home in 2 years, so this gelding will be looking for his forever home & when the time comes any serious homes will be thoroughly vetted to insure he does not get passed around to unsuitable ho...mes ever again. He is such a genuine safe gelding who is eager to please , we have brought him back into work slowly so he can gain his strength back which insuring he is a happy loved horse. 10.01.2022 It’s always great to teach kids the ropes in owning and riding a horse from the ground up from grooming & handling , tacking up , lunging to the basics of riding under saddle Both sienna & Isabelle have in just 2 lessons been able to do things for their selves under our close guidances from grooming to tacking up and today we learn control on the lunge before a short ridden session on the lead. 09.01.2022 So hear is a story that has a happy ending. Darci’s pride arrived Saturday a week ago from a client who did not know much about his background even tho we helped her find him a clear background story with a lot of jumble had been painted , since December 6th 2017 Darci has been through 5 owner including 2 retrainers. Earlier today darci’s original owner who brought him on the 6th of December 2017 reached out to me with some great in-depth detail into this beautiful gelding ..., so long story short Darci’s current owner decided that it was to in-depth for her and decided to give him the best chance , so we are happy to announce Darci’s old old old old owner and I are now working together to give this beautiful boy all the time he needs to become a happy sound riding horse , he will continue on his ulcershield until the ulcers are resolved , shoes back on , and he will begin slow light work while building those muscles and Topline back up and be happy in full work so he can find his forever home around March next year. 07.01.2022 Beautiful New Year’s Day afternoon spent with a few of our off the track thoroughbreds. Our 10 year old autistic son insisted he work sugar for me (think I’ve lost my horse ) Enzo came in for his first lunge after giving him a few days to settle in , also having a visit from sam our magic handed myofunction therapist on Wednesday.... Darci has had a couple weeks rest and is back in work , he will be under saddle next week , he will be looking for his perfect forever home in March / April 2021. Sugar well our 10 year old son had her all sorted and worked her really well , walk , trot & canter both ways (supervised of course ) and lead her back to the tie up and helped hose her down. Lots to be achieved in 2021 with a beautiful team of off the track thoroughbreds coming into work and looking for their perfect forever home & a few spellers out enjoying being horses.

06.01.2022 We can not believe oz has not found a home yet This gelding stands at 14.2 hh He is qh x Perfect age at 7 years old. ... This gelding is currently in full work has been with us here at Kia Kaha performance horses for 7 weeks now. Has been to adult riding club rally (not recently). Has been ridden through the Macca’s drive through. Been over cross country , been to several outings including indoors & for lessons. Nothing bothers him, you can drag a tyre off him , we’ve had bags and tarps tie to him and he literally wanted to fall asleep. Has been jumping approx 70cm with ease sometimes he just steps over it. Oz would be the perfect second mount for a confident child / teen or that perfect adult riders mount that you will have a world of fun on. Otherwise If your looking for a nice present & moving horse oz would excel in the show or dressage ring. He would not suit a beginner rider. He has a cheeky personality and loves attention. He waits for us everyday at the gate. Easy to catch , float , tie etc. Up to date with teeth , feet (barefoot ) and worming. This boy can move and has present about him. Priced to sell at $4800

Grooming Tacking up Untacking / washing Rugging / unrugging Lunging Assisting holding young horses / breakers for first ride - sit. Occasional feed up once or twice a week Cleaning of paddocks / stables. Successful applicants must be *Reliable *Hard working - within time frame given *Experience with handling a range of different horses & ponies including green / unhandled horses. * can work alone & as part of a team. * have reliable transport. * follow instructions * have attention to detail Start time is between 8.30am & 9am - minimum 2 hours work each day , hours will vary depending on horses / ponies in work. This may become a more permanent position down the track with more hours available for the right candidate. A 2 week trial period with the appropriate candidate starting mid January 2021. Some of our clients will have the pleasure of being greeted by grace’s beautiful smile when dropping or pick your horses up. ... 04.01.2022 Emily is off for surgery on her nose this coming Friday , so we have admin on behalf of Emily answering all messages & managing clients who are awaiting to have horses arrive for training & breaking. Emily will be returning to riding later next week (of course she asked the ENT specialist today ) on a small range of horses including her horses, But Unfortunately due to the nature of Emily’s fractures ENT specialist has specified Emily will be unable to take any unhandled o...r horses for breaking for a minimum of 5 weeks due to nature of handling & breaking the young horse in , we would love for Emily to be doing this sooner as she is rather grouchy while she is out of the saddle , we apologise to those who have horses booked for breaking / handling in the delays you have incurred due to Emily’s injury and we hope this is not of too much inconvenience to you & you beloved horse. We hope Emily bounces back quickly from her surgery , in the mean time Kia kaha performance Horses will regularly be monitored for questions and messages and we reply as promptly as we can. 04.01.2022 We are opening more spots up for lessons. Lessons will be available in the following area’s with dates to be advised. Ballarat & surrounding area’s ... Weekly lessons available most days. We are also able to offer lesson at our property with a 40x 20 mt sand arena & a 18 metre round yard. Geelong area We will be in the Elcho park area once monthly on a Sunday early morning 7-8am or after 3pm but may make a afternoon on a Saturday available if there is enough interest. Warrnambool , Camperdown , Terang , mortlake area , we will be available once a fortnight on a Friday evening or Sunday from 12noon. If you are not in the following area but would like to organise a lesson , please reach out we would need a minimum of 5 riders to make the trip to your area or we can make it a weekend of lessons for 10 or more riders Our lessons are $70 for a 45 minute lesson $50 for a 30 minute lessons Unfortunately we do not offer lessons on school horses or our own horses at this stage , this is something we will be looking into in the near future.

01.01.2022 Paddock re-arrangement day , all the geldings on one side , and the girls up the top on the other side , Harry is still spelling so he is down with our speller Freddie who is starting to really pick up while spelling , Harry thought I was great so much Room and too much feed he didn’t know what to do lol. Oz is having a break until he heads off to his new home sometime next week & Darci has moved down a paddock.

01.01.2022 Just over 4 weeks since we replaced our usual feeds & suppliments with Phoenix Feeds feeds & suppliments , currently all our horses are on sumo & hi -fi with their normal oaten & Lucerne chaff and hay. The transformation is amazing. Enzo has been on the above feeds for just over 3 weeks and his transformation is amazing he has gone from a dry dull coat lacking a healthy shine & some weight to a totally different horse with a darker coat and added shine , he has had an amazing hoof growth !
