24.01.2022 NSW Rural Fire Services Today we had a visit from the local fire fighters and Smokey the Koala. The children engaged in conversations around safety during a fire supporting their understanding of the world around them. This experience is building a connection with our local community members and allowing the children to feel a sense of belonging to the community.

24.01.2022 Christmas card delivery This week the children and educators set out on an excursion delivering Christmas cards and singing carols to our lovely community. We took this opportunity to bring maths into the experience as we discussed the numbers found on cars, mailboxes and electricity boxes. ... 23.01.2022 What an end to a wonderful year This last week the children celebrated their final days for 2020 showing their confidence and strong sense of belonging to their environment, peers and teachers A huge thank you to our amazing teachers for their hard work over this challenging year, to the preschool committee for their support and dedication and to our families and children.

05.01.2022 To celebrate NAIDOC week the children made and cooked their own damper, similar to bush bread made by Australian Aboriginals for many thousands of years. The children followed a recipe to make the damper, we then cooked it over a fire ensuring it was cooked through. ... This hands on experience allowed the children to learn about the Aboriginal culture as taught by aunty Adelaide when she previously visited preschool. This provides the children the opportunity to engage in risky play in a supportive active learning environment.
