20.01.2022 Gracious God, On this Anzac Day, we bring before you all those who have and continue to serve in our Defence Forces. We remember and give thanks for their servi...ce to our country. We pray for all those who suffer in war and continue to suffer from the trauma of war. We pray for comfort in their grief. We pray for supportive communities to journey with them in their struggles, healing and recovery. We give thanks for all our Defence Force chaplains. We thank you for their response to your call to offer spiritual leadership and pastoral care to Defence Force personnel and their families. We pray for all those who are negotiating for peace in situations of war and conflict throughout our world. Bless them with wisdom, strength and resolve to find ways we can live together in harmony and respect for one another. We pray that we might be bearers of your peace. Through Christ, who is our Peace, we pray. Amen. - Dr Deidre Palmer, Uniting Church President

13.01.2022 Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Take the pledge with us and share it with your friends. Together we can make a difference. Thanks to St George Illawarra ...Dragons for this special opening reflection. We gather united in our commitment to bring hope and help to people in a dark place. We remember those lost to suicide and acknowledge the pain for those left behind. We are thankful for the support, love and empathy of those around us. We recognise the role we all have to play in supporting people in crisis and preventing suicide. We commit to addressing the issues of stigma and ignorance that are barriers to people accessing the help they deserve. We invite people in distress to reach out for support. We encourage those concerned about someone, to engage, listen and connect them with care. We understand that through collective and collaborative effort, more people will be kept safe and well. We walk united in our conviction that we can all take positive steps to prevent suicide. www.outoftheshadows.org.au/southcoast
