19.01.2022 Here’s a snapshot of some of the key ways we are currently supporting people caught up in the fire emergencies in NSW, VIC, SA and WA: Supporting people at 35... evacuation and recovery centres in #NSW, #VIC and #SA. Delivering 10 pallets of water and 640 food packs to #Mallacoota. Coordinating 600-800 food hampers, along with water pallets, hygiene items and pet supplies for rapid distribution from East Sale. Distributing satellite phones to communities cut off in East #Gippsland. Deploying six additional trained personnel to support the 14 already on the ground in Mallacoota. Providing psychological first aid, registration services and telephone wellbeing checks. Manning a hotline for multiple fires with over 30,000 registrations and more than 5,000 inquiries. Carrying out outreach with travellers and locals stranded by fires in WA. Conducting recovery evaluations in affected towns, to help rebuild after the fires We thank everyone for their incredible generosity to Red Cross and people affected by #bushfire emergencies around the country. We’re able to do all this because of your support. Sunday, 5-Jan 2020 See more

10.01.2022 If you know anyone that has lost a home in the recent bushfires please make certain that they apply for a grant from the Australian Red Cross.

09.01.2022 If you know of someone who has lost their home in the recent bushfires , we have emergency grants available.

08.01.2022 If you know of someone who has lost their home in a bushfire since July 2019, grants are available to them.

06.01.2022 As of this morning, $8.2 million has gone to people whose homes have been destroyed. Currently, we’re getting a million dollars out the door each day. We’re try...ing to make this as easy as possible for people to get this money. But sadly we’re also getting lots of fraudulent applications. Here’s what we’re doing to get money to those who need it: Going out with iPads to help people without internet access Calling every applicant to verify their details Making sure we have enough information to proceed Carefully checking documents for forgeries Validating addresses against government-supplied information on lost homes Notifying people that payment is on its way For more information or to apply for a grant: http://rcau.org/UQyH50y3Aji

02.01.2022 Thank you to the Kiama Community for your very generous support of Red Cross Calling. We, as a community, raised $15,983.15 for the 2019 appeal. This significant contribution broke our local record, and will make a BIG Difference to people in need. We wish to recognize The Kiama and Minnamurra Lions, the Girl Guides and the pupils from Kiama High School who helped us in supporting this appeal.

01.01.2022 As a junior surgeon, Dr Munjed Al Muderis fled Iraq because he refused to surgically remove the ears of soldiers who deserted. He spent eight months in a detent...ion centre in Australia, where he was known as Number 982. Now he’s world renowned for his contribution to surgery and a proud Red Cross ambassador. Congratulations on being chosen as Australian of the Year for NSW 2020, Dr Munjed. You inspire us every day. #NSW #AusoftheYear
