25.01.2022 Kia Ora Koutou Katoa The committee for the Whakatne Touch Tournament have met and carefully considered the 2021 event. It is with some regret we have decided ...to cancel the January 2021 tournament. Covid-19 has had a significant effect on all our lives, and as much as the tournament committee wanted to be able to have this event, circumstances dictate this is simply not possible. What the committee did want to reiterate to the thousands of players and supporters is we will be back... ‘en force’ in 2022. We look forward to seeing you then - dates to be confirmed. In the meantime, keep safe, look after each other, and we look forward to seeing you in 2022. Ng mihi mahana The Whakatne Tournament Committee

05.01.2022 This little warrior here is Tyson, a future Touch Black from the Waikato. On the 9th of March 2020, Tyson was hospitalised with what was initially thought to b...e a viral infection. After his blood test results came back, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Tyson has already begun treatment at Starship Hospital in Auckland, with both of his parents taking care of him and keeping him company whilst he begins the long journey back to health. Doctors have said that Tyson will need treatment for 2-3 years. My man here is a real battler and he will smash this thing - you can and you will my man! Please keep Tyson in your prayers, fam & if you can - his Whanau have a givealittle page set up to help cover costs during this tough time. We love you Tyson! 04.01.2022 Kickback Gold Coast Club Day! On Sunday the 12th of July we held a club day for all of our Kickback Teams on the Gold Coast. The main purpose of this day was for our club members, whanau and friends to come together in a inclusive safe environment where they can have fun, have a kai and to learn the basics of the game we all love. We are fortunate enough to have many talented senior players involved in our club that have represented New Zealand and Australia in th...e game we all love, so utilising their skill sets and having them share their knowledge to all players from our under 8s teams right through to our opens teams is a massive asset and something we are very grateful for. Massive shout out to Tristan mana for running our coaching clinic with both our kids and senior players. Our awesome committee members for the behind the scenes work with organising this event, our family members for holding it down with kai prep on the day and our Kickback club members and their parents for turning up and choosing Kickback as your touch club It’s been amazing to see just how much our club has grown over the years. From starting in Wellington, NZ where our club originates from and is still going strong! To now having a solid club base here on the Gold Coast as well. We’re looking forward to many more years of growing, learning, and creating a even bigger touch family. Can we get a GG’s in the chat #KBK #oneclub #onefamily See more

03.01.2022 Jesse Leituvae is one of the best players to come out of kickback touch football club. He has played a big role in our open men’s sides since the establishment of kickback on the Gold Coast and he’s recently put his hand up to take on a new coaching role focusing on the development of our club. Unfortunately on our lead up to whakas Jesse was ruled out by an ACL injury and missed out. We are very honoured to have him apart of our club and can’t wait to have him back out on the field.

03.01.2022 March is National Epilepsy Awareness Month here in Australia and as our Kickback team were planning to compete in Annual Cas Cup touch competition we thought of a awesome way to use our platform to help spread the word about epilepsy by wearing the colour PURPLE while playing Did you know that in Australia roughly 250,000 people are currently diagnosed with epilepsy? So chances are that most people will know someone with the condition, but who can actually say that they ...know something about Epilepsy? Our uniforms tend to attract quite a lot of attention and that is why we decided to add a few facts about epilepsy onto this strip in hopes that people will make an effort to read what we have displayed on our tops and ultimately come away with something they didn’t know before about epilepsy Although we did not get to compete at Cas Cup this weekend due to the Covid-19 pandemic we strongly encourage you all to wear Purple on March 26th (Purple Day) and to talk about epilepsy and remind those who live with seizures that they are not alone. Kickback Touch Club urges you all to help end the stigma and discrimination of epilepsy and GO PURPLE #epilepsyawareness #purpleday
