26.01.2022 The smile you have when a big week of training comes to an end. Normal sessions will resume on Tuesday as it turns out I need some recovery time haha. See you then! #hellweek #sotired #personaltrainer #triathlete #catfish #catfishathlete #igniteyourpassion

25.01.2022 Welcome to a new week! Over the weekend I watched the Sunshine Coast Ironman 70.3 and it was amazing. To train for such an event takes consistency and commitment and that applies to every goal. Whether it’s to lose weight, increase fitness, be more organised, or train for an event, you will get there by being consistent and making new habits. Also start small... make your goals achievable. If you have a big goal in mind, break it down into smaller goals along the way. Take some time today to think about what you would like to do. Make a start to finding a dream that will inspire you then take the steps to turn it into a goal. The sooner you start, the sooner you can make it a reality

25.01.2022 I have had a few messages asking about adult learn to swim classes. Here is an opportunity for a Saturday morning class based at the West MAC pool. Swimming is such a fantastic low impact exercise and can help with every other kind of fitness. It’s also a very handy skill to keep you safe in the water.

25.01.2022 Had my good boi helping to supervise this morning’s sessions There is only two more training mornings before Christmas with limited spaces available. DM me if you would like to join at either 5:30am or 6:30am, Monday and/or Wednesday.

25.01.2022 It sure was muggy this morning but I’m happy with my @brisbaneblast duathlon result. I also managed to find my family and we all made it to the finish of the fun run before enjoying breakfast together. Two weeks until my next event and I think I’ll leave everyone at home in bed for that one. See you Monday afternoon at Henry Lawson park. Be prepared for some whinging about my sore legs #duathlon #bike #run #brisbaneblast #storybridge

24.01.2022 Due to the public holiday, there will be no sessions on Monday. Good luck at getting the kids back to school on Tuesday and I hope to see you on Wednesday afternoon in Walloon at 3:45pm

24.01.2022 Still riding the high from last night’s classes I’m so proud of every dang person who came along and had a go at my crazy workout. The feedback shows they were pretty happy with their efforts too The goal was to set a pace and keep moving which they all did. Even the dead bugs looked amazing!! If that wasn’t enough, the wonderful owners of @totalfit_ipswich gave me a gift of appreciation. I was so taken aback I am so very fortunate to work for, and with, such great people

24.01.2022 Join me in the gorgeous winter sun for your free Monday Mojo session tomorrow morning! May the winds be kinder to us than it was last week

23.01.2022 Something from one of my awesome clients I may have also been called evil on Thursday night so there seems to be a theme happening here

23.01.2022 The weekend is rapidly approaching what is on your plan to do? This was my first triathlon of the 2021-2022 season held at Bribie two weekends ago. There were some amazing professional athletes doing the triathlon too

23.01.2022 The Monday afternoon ladies getting it done! Turns out none of us can reliably count to five With such uncertainty and many not wanting or able to leave their house, why not give today’s workout a go at home? It was five rounds of: 10 pushups 20 step ups... 30 mountain climbers 40 squats 50sec plank To make it achievable for you, scale back the numbers to 10/15/20/25/30, or swap out an exercise to one you can do. Most importantly, challenge yourself to have a go See more

22.01.2022 Such a beautiful morning at Sutton’s Beach for an open water swim lesson today. It was a good experience and I will definitely go back for more My aim in life is to keep learning as there is so much to learn when you approach things with an open mind. See you Monday and Wednesday at 3:45pm in Walloon. Remember your water as it’s going to be warm

11.01.2022 Here is a hint for the special event happening before next Wednesday’s session in the park

11.01.2022 This is one happy trainer After a great session this afternoon with wonderful people, I rode the endorphin high to get my own swimming session done this evening. I hope you have had a happy Monday too

10.01.2022 Super proud of my ladies this morning. I snuck in a little one rep max deadlift test to see how their strength is progressing. Both easily did their previous 1RM for two reps and increased to a safe new max, including one joining the 100kg club! I like to provide a constantly varied program rather than specific strength program. This helps to keep the workouts interesting as you never quite know what will be thrown in there. Is it a heavy barbell, wallballs, alllll the du...mbbells, gymnastics, kettlebells, cardio...? Don’t worry, I do have the overall picture in mind so evenly train all areas of strength and conditioning, I just do so without making it obvious. Except for core, there will always be core. So why is testing important? Knowing a 1RM helps me with programming the appropriate weight for the workouts and track overall progress. Also who doesn’t love to see the number go up? To know you are stronger or faster than you were before Well done ladies, it’s such a pleasure to see your hard work pay off

09.01.2022 Here is a great visual showing the difference between Child’s pose and Puppy pose. I’ve been using the Puppy pose lots lately to release tight lats and shoulders. is great for lower body stretching and helps to relieve back pain. is great for upper body/ab stretching and helps to relieve stress and anxiety. . 07.01.2022 Two of my PT clients retested this benchmark workout today. Both amazing ladies smashed their previous times! It’s so rewarding to see their consistency and hard work pay off #proud #happytrainer #consistency #hardworkers #hwpo #benchmark #personaltrainer

06.01.2022 TAMA - I will running this remembrance workout at my @kickit_withkel and @totalfit_bootcamps classes this week. There will be scaling and substitution options offered so everyone of any fitness level will be able to have a go. CPL Luke Tamatea was one of three New Zealand soldiers killed during an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) incident in the North East of Bamyan Province, Afghanistan on Sunday 19 August. Luke was an avid CrossFit athlete and enjoyed body-weight exerci...ses and practicing farmers carries over long distances in preparation for Special Forces selection. The rep scheme (31) is to commemorate Luke's age when he was killed. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Erb; and children, Kyla, Kaytlen, Nikita and Keira.

05.01.2022 Every *body* is different. What works amazing for you won’t necessarily help someone else... and what didn’t work for you maybe exactly what sets them on a path that works for them. Keep listening to *your* body and meet its needs

05.01.2022 Swimming, running, riding and food with friends. It’s been a big but enjoyable weekend for me! I hope you have had a great one and are ready to meet a new week in the morning Kick It with Kel will be in the Walloon park again this week on Monday and Wednesday at 3:45pm. A mat, towel, water and only $10 is all you need to join in

04.01.2022 Running the hills of Mt Coot-tha today was my final workout of 2020. It was most certainly a challenge, one made better with amazing company. While running I was asked what my mantra is. At that point of our run I was channeling my inner Dory to just keep running. The one my friend shared with me was: This is easy, this is simple, this is fun and I’ll keeping this one in my bag of mental tools. ... What mantras do you use when the going gets tough? Have a safe New Year’s Eve everyone and I look forward to seeing you in 2021

04.01.2022 It was an early start at the Ipswich Cycle Park this morning. After a couple of hours and many kms later, I left again. It was great to see so many people out there during that time - triathlon clubs, walking/running groups, families, speed skaters. As always I felt super supported by the others in my training group (one even loaned me a pair of running shoes as I had forgotten mine ) and I value all the information and experience they share along the way as we rode or run together Now I’m clean, fed and back in bed to help recover. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and that I can walk again for our sessions on Monday #bricksession #cycle #run #recover #outdoorexercise #support #alwayslearning #irunlikeaturtle @bossmultisport

02.01.2022 Best of luck to Amanda who is kicking off her triathlon season at Moreton Bay tomorrow! You’ll just have to imagine that I’m chasing you I hope everyone else is enjoying their holidays and I can’t wait to hear about them when we start back in the park on Wednesday 6 October (Monday is a public holiday)

01.01.2022 When someone from the afternoon class begins the switch to a morning one

01.01.2022 Taking in the sunrise after doing Alec Smith’s Core Crusher to round out this morning’s park workout. Who knew that 30 seconds could feel like forever? Keep warm and keep moving everyone

15.12.2021 At the @empire_strength_asylum powerlifting competition today with the @totalfit_ipswich crew. Ladies back squats have completed, men are starting now. Everyone has done so well so far I got my three lifts, finishing at 100kg which I’m stoked with as I haven’t been close to that in a long time

29.11.2021 #repost @totalfit_ipswich Countdown is on (once again!) Rescheduled Powerlifting Comp is being held this weekend - Sunday 19th September ... Massive thanks to Kick it with Kel for helping out our lifters on a Monday evening with their training program - what can we say. You’re awesome!!! 16.11.2021 On Monday we completed the 5.3km Dingo Dash virtual fun run. Two big laps, one little lap and all done. So proud of everyone for giving it a go! @dubbostampede #dingodash #funrun

10.11.2021 Our Dingo Dash fun run is all set for Monday 30 August. Have you registered as part of the Kick It with Kel team so you can get medal? If you can’t make it Monday, it’s ok to do the distance over the weekend, maybe do parkrun and a 300m cool down. Then tag me in a selfie

02.11.2021 Here is the registration link to the Dingo Dash we are doing on Monday 30 August. Remember you can walk, jog, run or any combination around the course and the more the merrier!

03.10.2021 Everyone knows I like a bit of bling and this running event popped up as an upcoming virtual event. So instead of a normal session on Monday 30 August, we will complete the DINGO DASH. Entries are only $21 and I’ll let you know how to sign up and join our team. It doesn’t matter if you want to run, jog, walk or a combination, everyone is welcome! Course briefing and warmup is from 3:45 and we start at 4pm on the dot! Oh and in the spirit of the original venue - Taronga Zoo - you must represent an animal. It can be a picture on your shirt, hat, socks or even bring along a stuffed toy

20.09.2021 Did you hear the news? Lockdown ended this afternoon! Which means our Monday afternoon session in the park is a go All PT sessions are good to go too unless we get updates during the week. Mask up and stay safe

03.09.2021 I love learning new things and even better when they can be life changing. I had a first degree prolapse which I thankfully caught early. You know the signs, not being able to jump on the trampoline, crossing the legs when you sneeze, and I had a feeling of heaviness in my pelvis. Through physio and targeted exercises I was able to restrengthen my pelvic floor and no longer suffer from a prolapse. Sure my core can always do with more work and has its limit like any muscle, b...ig sets of skipping is a test to that, but overall my base is good. For this reason I am a massive advocate for being connected to your body and to do core work which is where the Sub30 Core Restore workouts come in. They are beautiful, gentle workouts that give you the space to connect with your core muscles, how to activate and relax them, how to engage them while doing an exercise, and how to recognise when they are fatigued. It’s the best time to practice using your core muscles as you aren’t trying to use them and do another exercise as well like running, weightlifting, star jumps, swimming, etc. I will be running them for free every Wednesday morning at TotalFit during August. It truly is a workout for all levels and is beneficial for everyone. @totalfit_ipswich @sub30corerestore

01.09.2021 A throwback photo to T2 in Cairns, the calm before the storm Did you see my awesome cap? I’ve got some spares and can hook you up only $25 and they come in either black or purple. I have some hoodies too, although I didn’t need them in Cairns
