25.01.2022 Are head lice driving you mad? To the edge? It's okay, we are here to help. Here at KickNits, I get asked many different questions, so here is a public service FAQ. Educate and eradicate! ... "Do I need to use harsh chemical treatments to get rid of the lice? " Absolutely not! It has actually been proven to be MORE effective to use the old school method of combing and sectioning the hair. The only thing chemicals will do is provide you with an irritated scalp and no fewer head lice. "Do I need to buy 'head lice hand wash' or 'head lice washing detergent?' " Again, absolutely not. Businesses that sell these products are 100% taking advantage of the average, slightly paranoid consumer. Please don't let you market take advantage of you. Normal warm water and soap will wash away any lice on your hands (just make sure to get under those nails) and a hot wash will be more than sufficient to rid any lice from sheets or clothes. Don't let the industry sell you something you don't need! "Do I need new pillows?" Again, NO! Changing your pillow cases is certainly necessary, or even putting the pillow outside for the day if you're really worried. But you really do not need to purchase new pillows. Thankfully, head lice are much different to bed bugs or other mites and parasites. They can not embed in the fibres of materials, only live on the top for a short amount of time. 10.01.2022 5 Ways to Prevent Head Lice This Year SCHOOL IS BACK quicker than ever for another year!! KickNits have some handy tips to help try and keep head lice away from those little heads! ... 1) Spray hair everyday before school with a decent preventative product from a pharmacy. An easy chemical free option is a diluted mixture of tea tree oil and water in a spray bottle. No more than 10ML of Tea Tree Oil per 100ML of water. 2) Try to avoid your child sharing hats at school. 3) Keep an eye on your childs hair. Doing regular checks of hair will help to spot any infestations early and make it as easy as possible to get the situation under control! 4) Always try to put hair up. If the hair is long enough a tight plait or braid is great, a bun style is always fun too! 5) Communication! If you or your family are unlucky enough to pick them up - its always best to tell anyone who has been close by. Communication is key, Share this post around! :)

You can even see an egg brewing inside its mum getting ready to be laid on the hair shaft. Also a little baby nymph lice which only just hatched before we harvested the little guy.
