25.01.2022 Our younger students worked on vocal projection with Larissa tonight. They had to write and perform a scene where the dialogue increased in volume with each line. Great work, young actors!

21.01.2022 It's BRING A FRIEND FOR FREE DAY at Kick Up The Artz! Each current student can bring one friend for a free trial lesson. Enrolment forms will be available to take home if your friend wants to enrol for the term. Primary-aged students 4.30pm-6.05pm, secondary-aged students 6.15pm-7.50pm.

20.01.2022 This play is highly recommended viewing for any young actor, or young person interested in any aspect of theatre. It's an example of verbatim theatre, in which all dialogue spoken by the actors is taken directly from interviews, journals and media reports - not paraphrased or tidied up, but just as it was originally spoken. We invite all our senior students to come along and see one of the evening performances at a concession price of $25. Parental supervision is recommended for under 14 years of age, due to some strong language and the mature themes of the play. **We also extend an invitation for any of our senior students to sit in on a rehearsal in order to view the process of creating this kind of theatre.**

20.01.2022 Alas and alack! It is with great disappointment we announce Kick Up will not run this Thursday due to the closure of schools and other non-essential activities. Naturally, we think we’re extremely essential, BUT your health and safety must come first. It’s not quite the BANG! we wanted to end with, but never fear! We will be challenging you with many artistic challenges via this page over the following weeks. Brace yourselves for a wealth of dramatic shenanigans! We’ll be thinking of you fondly and can’t wait to see you all again. Larissa and Amy

17.01.2022 Greetings! With the weird and wacko 2020 behind us, we have taken the time to reflect and make a number of quite significant changes to our Kick Up the Artz program. It became quite apparent to us during last year how crammed and busy our lives were when suddenly, thanks to Covid-19, everything was pared down and simplified. We both found we time to take care of ourselves, relax and enjoy the simple pleasure of just `being'. It is thus we've decided to reformat Kick Up the Ar...tz classes. We will no longer be offering a weekly class, but rather joining Kick Up the Artz to Smart Artz Theatre Company. We intend to offer performance opportunities for young people between 8-18 years of age where they will learn acting and movement skills over a rehearsal process leading up to public performances. There will still be a strong focus on movement and acting skills and group-based learning as we have done in the past, but over a few months rather than classes for the whole year. We understand this may cause some disappointment for our students who have loved attending weekly classes. Rest assured we have loved teaching them, but now is the time to revamp what has been and stride boldly toward a new goal! We will keep our Kick Up the Artz Facebook page running for upcoming information and performance opportunities, so keep glancing in this direction. It certainly looks like the performing arts scene in Horsham will be slowly reappearing, so we will be definitely making plans for the very near future. Larissa and Amy

15.01.2022 A surrealist poem from our younger students. (We’re practicing vocal projection.)

12.01.2022 A friendly reminder that term fees are due - pay by cash tonight or direct debit. T-shirt’s are also available for purchase for $30.

12.01.2022 Kick Up The Artz neutral acting stance, and a whole lot of full body expression in Acting with Larissa.

05.01.2022 Creative Movement game Obstacles promotes creative use of our bodies, cooperation, quick thinking and ingenuity. (And it makes everyone laugh.) We did this with both our senior and junior classes to the Mission Impossible and James Bond Theme Music.
