18.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day - and I want to ask you all, are you ok?? 2020 has been a hugely challenging year and especially for us Victorians in the past couple of months. Business owners, parents, singles young or senior ~ everyone is fighting their own battle so it's important to remember to be kind and check in with friends and family. Let's also remember that it's ok to NOT be ok and keep conversation flowing. Personally, this past month has been really hard emotionally, as bot...h a parent and business owner. Having a 2 year old who is going through the typical mood swings at this age and being a very emotional little guy is a challenge each day. And not being able to take him out and entertain him ~ I feel guilty for not being a more exciting mother and having lots of games and entertainment on hand! I'm so grateful that the sun is starting to shine as he loves being outdoors. I can't even imagine how hard it has been for parents home schooling and take my hat off to you. As a business owner, it's been crushing to have to close my doors. I had such high hopes for 2020 as I felt like I had finally landed on my feet and worked out how to juggle being a Mum and work. After years of hard work, educating myself about business and improving my photography, this was the year I finally felt confident to give the business the push it needed to thrive. It started off great until Covid hit :( Although I admit that I have met the most lovely and understanding families this year who have had so much patience through all of this, and for that I am very grateful. To all the new parents giving birth and raising your bubba through this time - I really feel for you. Having a baby is hard enough, let alone without the help of family and friends. You are doing such an amazing job and my business page is always open to anyone needing advice on anything baby or parent related. I can also imagine that it is distressing for a lot of parents who have missed out on professional newborn or baby photographs. This is such a special time in your lives and it's not fair to have this opportunity taken away from you. Once photographers can work, we will be ready to capture your precious memories and celebrate your new family member with you! I photographed little Anastasija for a good friend at just 2 weeks old, and can't believe she is already 12 weeks old. 16.01.2022 How do you spend your spare time?! I remember in those first few weeks with Zavier as a newborn, I tried to be the super-mum and do so much while he was sleeping. That eventually led to me being completely burnt out and listening to what you always get told "sleep when they sleep". Not that I was very good at that, but at least I tried to rest to some degree! I'm devastated for all small business owners who are struggling to grasp the latest news and I feel for you all. 08.01.2022 It is never too late to have baby photographs taken "We had Michelle photograph my little girl Indiana at 3 months old, as due to Covid we were unable to have our newborn photo shoot. It was a shame as I obviously really wanted newborn photos to look back on, however I am SO glad we still booked in for a 3 month photo shoot when lockdown 1.0 was lifted. By this age Indiana was nice and alert and I was able to dress her up in pretty dresses! I also was feeling much better ...myself to be photographed. Parents who have missed out on the newborn stage like we did, don't have regrets as it is out of your hands. Instead, have photographs taken when you can as this is better than none at all!"
