24.01.2022 For senior AikiKids I will be sending an invitation soon to the seminar with the Chief Instructor of Australia May2 and 3 here in the Canberra area. Peter loves seeing our seniors there and he really likes how they train.

20.01.2022 Checking the ACT Health website, it looks like the next easing of restrictions will allow contact, and 20 people in the space. No date specified yet. This would allow us to restart AikiKids Aikido, so here's hoping its soon.

20.01.2022 The holiday program will be at the Deakin location. Tues/Wed/Thurs (7, 8, 9 July) 5-8s 0900-1200 each day; Teens 1300-1700 each day.

20.01.2022 Its time for Term2, next Monday! Great results last term, they all worked hard and had lots of fun. There were some excellent gradings as well, my congratulations to those who did so. It was a pleasure to see. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again soon!

19.01.2022 Term1 is going really well. Great attitude and performance across all nine AikiKid classes. A pleasure to see. The kids will probably have told you, but we have implemented a big hand washing etc protocol before/during/after class, and in addition the toilets, sinks and doorknobs etc are all thoroughly cleaned as always. Same precautions used for flu really, but now much more obvious to the kids and with clear explanations of aerosol and touch contamination. The hygiene rules are on the whiteboards and the kids are constantly monitored for violations. However, so far anyway, the uptake has just been outstanding, they get it and have really got with the program.

15.01.2022 Holiday Program January 12, 13 14!! At the Deakin location https://canberraaikido.com.au/kids-training-information/ 5-8s are from 0900-1200 with a couple of breaks. 9-Teens are from 1300-1700 with a couple of breaks. Covers focused training on particular aspects, exploring new areas of Aikido, training activities (fun) that improve skills, and a game or three.... 14.01.2022 In the summer holidays we’ll run an AikiKids holiday program. It will be structured much the same as the last one which the kids loved! It was a lot of fun, and a lot of good training. I realise some of you will be out of town, but if not please come along! It will be at the Deakin location, the scout hall in La Trobe Park on the corner of Gawler Crescent and Melbourne Avenue. The dates are: Tuesday 12th January/Wed 13th/Thurs 14th.... 5-8 year-olds will attend 3 hours each day, classes starting at 0900 and going through to finish at 1200. The kids will get two 10 minute breaks during this period and will need to bring snacks and a water bottle. 9-Teens will attend 4 hours each day, classes starting at 1300 and going through to finish at 1700. The kids will get two 10 minute breaks during this period and will need to bring snacks and a water bottle. The classes will be a mixture of Aikido training and related activities that develop skills (and are fun), weapons training (sword/staff/knife all wood) (some for the 5-8s but mostly for 9-teens), and games (mostly for the 5-8s). The older group will, like the previous holiday program, receive training much closer in content and method to that of the adults. The fee will be: $130 each for 5-8s $160 each for 9-Teens. For those coming along who are not yet existing members of an Aikido class there will be a little paperwork on the first morning. Please feel free to mention the program to others outside the existing classes who might be interested. 10.01.2022 AikiKids will restart with a holiday program in the first week of the school holidays (details in email tomorrow). Make sure you book in! Then AikiKids will recommence normal classes at the start of Term3. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

06.01.2022 Sadly we have had to suspend all Aikido classes for now. Classes will resume once the social distancing and non-essential activity restrictions have been relaxed. I'll be putting some training material on the website and/or youtube. Stay safe and well and see you soon-ish!

02.01.2022 Well, the term has started very well. It's great to see everyone again and to meet our new beginner's. Training has gone well too, good effort and attitude. As a heads up, there will be a holiday program in the 2nd week of January, 3 days, dates/costs TBA. Same format as last time with 5-8s 9-12am and 9-Teens 1-5pm. We had a terrific response last time, great turnout and really good feedback, the kids loved it. More soon.
