25.01.2022 Ravi Saini, a 10 year old boy, survived for more than an hour using floating advice he had remembered from a BBC TV documentary. "Rescuers praised him when they found him on his back, with his arms and legs spread, shouting for help in the water near Scarborough on 31 July." Float to live advice... The "float to live" advice is a key message in the RNLIs national drowning prevention campaign, Respect the Water It urges people to follow potentially lifesaving advice if they find themselves in trouble after falling into cold water Fight your instinct to swim hard or thrash about - this can lead to breathing in water and drowning Instead, relax and float on your back until you have regained control of your breathing - RNLI #Float2Survive #Float4Life https://www.bbc.com//uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-53687

23.01.2022 "It only takes a minute. Once children are underwater you can't hear them..." says Dr Luke Lawton Hospital Emergency Director A pre xmas warning that 80 per cent of drowning cases in Queensland were found to be children. Today more devastating news of a 3 year old Townsville boy who just passed away after a near drowning in a private pool. ... Our thoughts are with the family and those affected who worked tirelessly at the scene to treat and get him to intensive care. This Summer is a deadly one with already 38 drowning deaths which is an increase from last year and does not include non fatal drownings which is usually 7 times that of the number of drownings. https://fb.watch/2XFhAsCJuc/

22.01.2022 What the Kids achieve in lessons... What the Parents do and sacrifice to gift their child these lessons... What the instructors do to skill each child in our program... Nothing short of AMAZING ... YOU ARE ALL AMAZING! #amazingkids #amazingparents #amazingprogram

21.01.2022 Why is BACK FLOATING so important? Back floating is a crucial water safety and survival skill. Back floating equips infants, young children and even adults with the ability to roll onto their back and stay at the waters surface, which places them in an ideal position to rest, conserve energy and gain a breath. We know drowning occurs when a person is unable to hold and maintain an effective body position for breathing therefore learning to back float reduces the chances of drowning by keeping calm, breathing and sustaining life until help arrives. #backfloating #backfloatingsaveslives #floattobreathe #floattolive #floattosurvive #infantaquatics #swimsurvival #kidsaquaticsurvivalschool

21.01.2022 There is something we need to address... A tik tok video from the US has gone viral worldwide showing an instructor throwing an infant into the water as part of a survival technique. We DO NOT condone what has been seen in this video and we DO NOT and would NEVER do this in our lessons. ... Justin Scarr, CEO of Royal Life Saving Society Australia, has commented this technique known as infant survival swimming, is practiced in Australia. As many of you who have completed our program or witnessed it know WE DO NOT throw, chuck, push or force a child into the water and/or when in the water. We also dont click in a childs face to keep their attention. At KASS, we teach non verbal infants and young children how to be independent and survive in the water. Our philosophy is through gentle touch and using the environment to encourage movement through the water. Our program is tailored and taught in small increments based on the child being successful and each skill achievable for the child. It is only when the child is fully skilled we simulate an accidental fall into the water and this skill is done so in a controlled and supportive way. KASS lessons provide students with safe, effective opportunities to learn about being in the water and how to respond appropriately to the demands placed on them by that environment. Our goal is to ensure a child is safer in and around water. We aim to give every child the very best chance of survival. Our method does not involve or cause harm to the child. https://7news.com.au//infant-swimming-lesson-video-slammed

18.01.2022 What a LEGEND! A great example of how floating can be applied in different aquatic environments! Giving a child the space to build confidence in water is crucial particularly when a child has been fully skilled in survival and is fully competent.... This child was trained by KASS to roll onto their back, rest, breathe and stay calm until help arrived. Thanks DAD what a HERO! Give a if you agree!

18.01.2022 I cant even imagine the pain this family must be feeling. I hope they get the support they need during this difficult time.

15.01.2022 Drowning is one of the leading causes of death in children 0-4 years of age. Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that drowning is the number one cause of death in one-, two- and three-year-old children (ABS 2019). Teaching a child to recover from a disorientation and/or fall into water, roll from front to back and float indepdently could potentially give the child those crucial moments for someone to reach them and save their life.

14.01.2022 As we welcome 2021 whilst enjoying Summer holidays and all the fun times in and around water, we remind parents of the importance of water safety. Earlier this month, paramedics pleaded with parents to ensure their children were safe around the water following 29 near drownings. QAS acting director of clinical quality and patient safety Lachlan Parker said most incidents were preventable.... The statistics are very clear that the vast majority of drownings or near drownings occur in backyard pools, and for toddlers or young children aged 0-4 near drownings are one of the highest leading causes of death in that age group, he said. https://www.news.com.au///d9bdce0ab194bd301131b25c9504e8c8

14.01.2022 Surviving We test children fully clothed in hoodies, shoes and trackies even nappies (should they still be wearing one), ONLY once they are FULLY skilled in SURVIVAL because we know children can drown throughout the year, even in WINTER . When children drown, they might not be dressed for swimming or even want to swim, but often escape from supervision and fall into water unintentionally and unexpectedly.#drowningprevention #survivalskills #infantsurvival #kidsaquaticsurvivalschool #floattolive #floattosurvive #floatforlife

08.01.2022 Its not something you ever wish to think about but when 84% of toddler drownings are due to falls into water the question needs to be asked...

08.01.2022 Thankfully a by-stander took swift action to save this toddler who was found face down unconscious in a Perth lake. I am sure you either live by a park which has a similar lake or have visited one. In Sydney, the famous Royal Botanic Gardens and Centennial Park is very similar to this lake. No gates, easily accessible to children and deep enough to drown.... Please always keep watch near water. Even at a young age children can learn how to be safe in and around water and these lessons are for life and to save their life. https://thewest.com.au//hero-perth-dad-saves-girl-from-dro

05.01.2022 Falls into water account for 88% of toddler drowning deaths in Australia. At KASS, we skill infants and young children with the ability to self rescue. To recover from a simulated accidental fall into water, roll from front to back, rest, breathe and SURVIVE. To use in times of need and hopefully prevent further tragedies. #floatingsaveslives #float2breathe #float2live #float4life #float2survive #kidsaquaticsurvivalschool

05.01.2022 This morning we commend, Tate, a young hero. In a busy Christmas pool party he noticed a 6 year old child floating unconscious and swam to his rescue. Having the care and courage to swim over, check on him, pull him from the water whilst screaming for help is beyond his years. An important reminder of how quickly and silently #drowning can happen particularly in a busy pool with lots of distractions.... Always keep an active watch and have your child skilled in #survival so should they find themselves out of their depth and tire, they understand how to roll onto their back, rest, breathe and call for help. Well done Tate! Perhaps a future starring role in Bondi Rescue Lifeguards

05.01.2022 Young children are inherently curious, inquisitive and dont generally perceive danger. Therefore, as parents we understand the need to set firm boundaries in order to keep our children safe. Water safety is no exception. The skills taught need to be realistic for the chid, given their age and aquatic environment. They need to learn to respect the water and have a realistic understanding of their limits and capabilities.... At Kids Aquatic Survival School WE ARE DIFFERENT to most swim schools. We focus on SURVIVAL and by that we mean; 1. NO PARENTS or carers in the water until the child is fully skilled. As a parent your intentions are good, however you may act like a floatation device for the child allowing them to grab hold of you rather than the pool edge or safety. Parents may also have their own fears or anxieties regarding water and unintentionally project these onto the child. 2. ACCELERATED and INTENSIVE program targeted to children under 5 years who are most at risk of drowning. Structured as daily lessons not weekly to skill children quickly when most at risk - as taking years could be too late. 3. PRIVATE 1 on 1 lessons with specialised instructors for the most safe and effective lesson 4. NO FLOTATION AIDS (including kickboard, noodles) or goggles whilst the child is learning the survival skills because they create a false sense of security whilst not allowing the child to fully understand their own natural buoyancy. Comforts children wont have should they find themselves in an aquatic accident At Kids Aquatic Survival School, we believe, the focus on SWIMMING lessons needs to shift to SURVIVAL lessons. Children need to learn how to SURVIVE in water before they learn to SWIM in it. If a child is always held in the water or uses flotation devices, it can create a false sense of security leading to over confident child with little or no water competence. Water confidence without competence is a dangerous combination. KASS teach water competence with a strong focus on survival as the best foundation for a childs water safety education. We believe teaching survival skills today provides children with a safer tomorrow, so as they are graduating through life from childhood to adolescence, they understand their limitations and dont over estimate their abilities. Book Today for a Safer Tomorrow To learn more please call 1800 543 779 or email [email protected]
