21.01.2022 We are continuing to work with specfic elements of art each week. Value was the theme for this week's art lesson. Students created value scales and used them to guide their forest pictures that required three drawn values plus the value of the paper. There were a lot of aspects to this lesson - drawing trees, sizing, shading and placing them to demonstrate value and distance.
21.01.2022 These are some of the mosaics students made using mainly pulses. We discussed that the designs needed to be simple taking into consideration that details would be difficult to show. Students will have a choice to paint their mosaics in the next lesson.
19.01.2022 Some more finished art.

17.01.2022 Such a wonderful job by the students in the Koi Fish workshop today. The lighting for the photos wasn't good today. So glad that I was able to adjust the colour with filters to get a closer representation.
17.01.2022 Students worked on their observational skills today. After sketching the fruit still life they painted from the still life. It's always exciting to see each unique approach and outcome.
16.01.2022 We looked at the Principle of Rhythm in this session. Students used oil pastel and watercolor for these Ken Done inspired Opera Houses.
15.01.2022 These are some of last week's completed still life pieces.
15.01.2022 A few more completed pieces.
14.01.2022 Last week students learned about American artist Wayne Thiebaud and they used soft pastels to draw cupcakes. The main element of art they focused on was colour.

13.01.2022 Some more completed art.
12.01.2022 This lesson introduced the Principle of Unity to students. Students learned about analogous colours and how they provide unity to an artwork. Obviously this task had a lot of Repetition also.
10.01.2022 That time of year again. I'm always in awe of the different painting styles.
09.01.2022 This week students did an abstract art work that concentrated on line, shape and colour. Each art work is vibrant and colourful. Some students experimented with blending oil pastels and were excited with their results.

06.01.2022 A great deal of thinking went into drawing and coloring these rolls of paper. Students considered where to place lines to effectively draw the paper rolls. They needed to show space by overlapping. Adding the color required directional colouring and thought about where to place light and shadow. There was a lot going on in this lesson. Definitely worthwhile doing again to consolidate these skills and understandings.
05.01.2022 We did some craft, making sock bunnies. Craft and 3D work allows different skills to be developed and applied especially as there were many steps involved in this session.
02.01.2022 Drawing abstract spirals proved challenging. By slowing down and concentrating students were able draw spirals that they could paint and decorate with pattern. These are some in various stages of completion.
01.01.2022 Soft pastels provide the opportunity for students to make vibrant, large piecess of art quickly. This Dragon Eye lesson focused on colour and shape Some students had time to add shading and highlights.
01.01.2022 During the last two lessons students made egg carton faces. They found that gluing posed some problems. They tried 3 different types of glue and some decided to use making tape to secure pieces. One student solved the gluing dilemma by making holes and pushing parts through to create the facial features. Students in other classes adopted this technique too. The element of art informing this lesson was form.
