24.01.2022 The educational leader of Kids Capers play a significant role in guiding and developing educators and families understandings about play and leisure-based learning, and the significance of the early years in the education continuum for children. Today our team had the opportunity to step away from our regular Zoom meetings and come together at our Scarborough Centre to chat about and collaborate on how amazing and exceeding our program is, and ways we can do even more for childrens learning. Thank you to our amazing Educational Leaders for providing us with your knowledge and passion in Early Years Education and Care.

21.01.2022 Today our dedicated educator Miss Daina was able to discuss Indigenous Literacy Day with the Sugar Gliders and Dingoes. First, Miss Daina read How the birds got their colours. She then asked lots of provocative questions to enable the children to participate in a large group discussion and gain meaning from the story. Miss Daina showed the children that she had set up a painting experience for them to participate in later during the day and also a make your own book learning station. They were very excited to be able to do this!

19.01.2022 ! Today marks the start of National Child Protection Week. Putting children first means prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children. To grow up well children need to feel safe and loved, have a chance to play and explore, have a say in decisions that affect them, and access to essential things like food, shelter and healthcare.

19.01.2022 @Kidscapersnorthgate we believe it is important to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our every day learning. During events such as NAIDOC week, we take the opportunity to further extend on the children’s learning and understanding of the Nations First People. This week our team have planned many experiences to increase the children’s awareness of our history. Take a look at the yummy cupcakes that were baked in our toddlers age group this week. Du...ring this experience, the educators had lots of conversations about the meaning of the flag and the colours. In our Sugar Gliders room, the children have been working all week to make a cave. Miss Jan has planned experiences for the children to learn about the traditional paintings and homes of Indigenous Australian’s and the children have transferred this knowledge into many areas of their learning this week. The children have learnt about the symbols and their meaning. They’ve then painted these symbols onto the cave they are building, using boxes. Learning through play sets a solid foundation for a love of learning!

19.01.2022 Childrens success as learners depends on strong foundations developed from infancy. Play based learning fosters critical skills, understanding and dispositions which are essential for your childs lifelong learning and wellbeing. This week our senior nursery (Possums) engaged in sensory play. They enjoyed the opportunity to get messy and explore the texture of the goop!

19.01.2022 Here at Kids Capers Northgate we believe it is of highest importance to ensure our educators are trained and supported in their roles. This is also part of our ongoing commitment to promote positive organisational culture and a professional learning environment. This week Miss Emily, Our Educational Leader, completed training for the educators on our documentation process and expectations. This helps the educators confidence grow and provides a professional space for them to brain storm and share ideas with one another.

15.01.2022 A little bit of Gratitude goes a long way and teaching children gratefulness at an early age sets a strong foundation to be mindful of all the good in their world.

15.01.2022 Sometimes our little people have big feelings! That's just the way it is, but learning to work with them through these challenging times is vital for both you and them!

14.01.2022 Hello, my name is Emily walker. I have been part of the Kids Capers family since 2015. I love all aspects of my role as an educator, I feel so passionate about the early years and enjoy building relationships with our little people watching them blossom into confident learners in their environment and celebrating all their milestones. In my own time, I enjoy spending time with my own family of my own; Heath and fur baby, Reeba. We enjoying baking, gardening and long walks aro...und the beach. I also have the pleasure of being Educational leader here at the centre- I really enjoy mentoring educators and building on their knowledge and skills as I believe building up our educators truly does give our educators a place where they can shine which in return will create a space for the children to feel connected, nurtured and cared for them to become successful, resilient, capable learners and decision makers in their life and learning. 14.01.2022 Today we enjoyed some time in the beautiful sunshine! Our dedicated educators have been collaboratively working and setting up play experiences each morning for the children to engage in during drop offs. Today the children enjoyed painting and baking some delicious mud cakes in our sandpit!

13.01.2022 Every month we complete emergency evacuation drills for fires and lockdowns. Today we had an emergency fire evacuation drill! Miss Katie alerted the entire building that there was a fire in the kitchen and sent everyone into evacuation mode. The educators gathered the emergency bag packs and children and evacuated them out of our building to our safety point. We believe it is crucial to ensure the children and educators are well prepared for these events. Practicing them ea...ch month guarantees the educators are able to complete these with confidence and in a timely manner. The educators modelled assisting each other and the children, which in turn lead to some of the older children helping the babies to find their way. We also took this opportunity to further embed the fish philosophy into our centre environment. Miss Renee was the first of our team to be recognised for her positive attitude and team spirit this month. This month, the aim of our game is for every educator to be recognised for something wonderful they are doing and the positives they bring to our fish bowl.

12.01.2022 Last week we had a visitor in our play ground- Jiminy cricket came for a play! The children all gathered around to inspect him closer at first. After discussing how many legs he had, how he moved about the play ground and how important it was for us to share our space with him, the children lined up next to one another to watch him jump up the fence and explore what was on the other side. The children are building respect for their environments and enjoy observing and asking questions to gain further knowledge of their world.
