We have all these emotions within us, and more, and in a normal, healthy human, all are acceptable within reason. In order for your child to regulate these emotions, healthy discussion and an open channel of communication between parents and child are crucial. At times it felt endless and at others we looked at our calendars and wondered how we were already so far into the year. We are a resilient bunch. 10.01.2022 Deep breathing does make a big difference for kids. But how can we teach them to take a deep breath properly? Here is my favorite way to introduce deep breathing! Use Bubbles Blowing gently to create bubbles is a good way to be playful and breathe deeply. Kids have to blow carefully and slowly to make the bubbles, which is a major reason why I like using it to help kids take deep breaths.

09.01.2022 Breathing is the superpower we all have to take back control of our emotions when everything feels like chaos. But sometimes the idea of focus on your breath is too hard. Sometimes your mind is so busy, or you’re feeling so anxious, that you can’t just focus on your breath. So I’ve found that it can be helpful to use one of these games (Pom Pom soccer, caterpillars race ...) to force our kids to really notice the power of their breathes. It brings the body back into balance, slowing and deepening the breath and slowing down the heart rate, while harnessing the need to move with an action that requires focus and provides sensory feedback to our brains. Best of all, Take 5 Breathing is simple, enjoyable, free, and you can use it anywhere, anytime.

Although other exercises may also push their to limits, the difference with yoga is that it incorporates two game-changing components: deep breathing and mindfulness.
