24.01.2022 RECYCLED BOTTLE TOPS What an artwork!! During this experience, the children and Miss Elizabeth spoke about different shades of colours like light blue and dark blue. Warm colours and cool colours. The children talked about how recycling helps our community and world to remain healthy and a nice clean place for us to live and learn. ... This collaborative art project was unique in the way that it brought the children together with a view to the wider world and community in which they will one day be the leaders of and how it is important to be mindful of keeping our community and environments healthy and happy places to live, learn and grow. 23.01.2022 Pure joy! It was a hot one in Penrith today! But that never stops our fun! Our Pixies and Munchkins enjoyed cooling down under the water this morning as we watered our plants. ... The best sounds are those of little giggles. After cooling down we enjoyed making pancakes with Miss Julie. They filled our little tummies up. #childhoodunplugged #kidsacademypreschool

22.01.2022 CHARCOAL DRAWING This week the Preschooler’s have been learning about charcoal drawing. The children used compressed charcoal, willow charcoal and charcoal pencils to create their drawings. The children also learnt how to blend using a range of media. This included a blending stick, their fingers and 2 different shaped nylon paint brushes. First the children looked at the different charcoal and the different marks it made on a variety of papers, then they all had a turn a...t blending with the different techniques. The children drew their own artwork and collaborated with each other while doing this, discussing what they were drawing and what media and techniques they were trying. The educators helped the children model different ways of communicating and extending on their ideas. The children liked drawing figures and plants so they added some dolls from the room and picked their own plants to recreate. This was lots of fun and the children loved learning about observational drawing, which is just as much learning to ‘see’ as it is learning to draw.

15.01.2022 OUR FOOTY VISIT PHOTOS Check out our photos from today! Today we were very lucky to have some visitors! Kai's Dad, Malakai and his brother Dallin came to Preschool today to visit the children. Both Malakai and Dallin played a game of tunnel ball with us, followed by passing the ball around to one another pretending it was a hot potato and then to finish off we practiced kicking the ball to Malakai and Dallin (This was our favourite!). Afterwards we were able to have s...ome photos with them and they even signed some hats! The children absolutely loved this special visit and haven't stopped talking about it all day! I am sure if your child was at Preschool today you will hear all about it tonight! Thank you Malakai and Dallin for dedicating your morning to spend some time with our little ones!!

11.01.2022 Today we were lucky to have the Regentville fire brigade visit us. We learnt about how to stay safe around fire, STOP, DROP, COVER & ROLL and how important having a fire alarm in our house is. We then had a turn with the hose, which was so much fun!... Thank you to our local hero's for taking the time out of their busy day to come and meet us.

08.01.2022 Today we were very lucky to have Ivy and Arlia's mum Tanya come in and share a story from the girls home collection to celebrate and acknowledge Naidoc week. The children gathered and listened to "And Kangaroo played his Didgeridoo" Written by Nigel Gray and Illustrated by Glen Singleton. A fun and catchy book that tells the story of a party in the outback attended by Australian animals. Tanya also let us borrow "Cooee Mittigar" By Jasmine Seymour and Leanne Mulgo Watson. The children looked at the beautiful illustrations and were introduced to the Darug language throughout. What an amazing opportunity we had to extend our learning. Thank you Tanya, Ivy and Arlia
