25.01.2022 For many of us, summer means BBQ’s, watching cricket on TV, having a hit in the backyard with the kids and cooling off in the pool. If you’re heading inside, even just for a minute to check the cricket scores or grab the snags, make sure you take the kids with you, or ensure there is another adult who is actively supervising them around the pool. 25.01.2022 Are you planning a pool party with family and friends this summer? When there are lots of adults around, it may seem like there is extra supervision for the kids - however, this isn't always the case. It can be easy to think that someone else is actively supervising them when in fact, nobody is. When you’re deciding who’s in charge of the BBQ , make sure you remember to set the most important role - the designated supervisors - who are in charge of actively supervising the kids within arm's reach when in and around water. This role can be shared throughout the day to ensure everyone gets the chance to enjoy themselves. Falling on or from straits 2. Falling while being carried 3. Falling off a bed 4. Falling while using walkers or wheeled toys (Walker, skateboards, prams etc.)
14.01.2022 In keeping with the social distancing advice during the COVID-19 pandemic all Kidsafe ACT services are now by appointment only. We will no longer be accepting drop-ins. If you would like an appointment for a car seat fitting, car seat hire, to purchase a seat from us and have it fitted, or if you have a car seat safety or general child safety question, please call us on 62902244, emails us at [email protected] or send us a privatae message and we'll be happy to help you. We are asking that wherever possible you do not bring children to the appointments. Our staff are very good at explaining how to use and adjust your car seat and we will give you Step By Step Cards to take home with you. We're also asking that adults attending the appointments be kept to 1 only.
13.01.2022 Going away for the Easter long weekend? It's a good time to check your car seats to ensure they're correctly fitted.
12.01.2022 Toddlers tend to be 'top heavy' which means they can easily fall over, including into a pool or other body of water, while exploring their surroundings. In 2019/20, 3/4 of all toddler drownings were a result of accidental falls into the water. Even when you aren’t planning on going for a swim, if backs are turned away for a split second, children can accidentally fall, trip, or slip and get into trouble. 07.01.2022 Falls from beds are the leading cause of injury requiring hospitalisation for children under 12 months. Never let your little one sleep on an adult bed and if changing bub on a bed always stay within arms reach to avoid falls. Playing on beds should be avoided and if you are thinking of transitioning from a cot to a bed check out the Rednose "Cot to Bed Safety" brochure to ensure you are transitioning to a bed safely. https://rednose.org.au//RN3356_Cot_to_Bed_Poster_A3%28web%

06.01.2022 Unfortunately our Rolfe Honda Belconnen Service is closed today due to staff illness l. We apologise for the inconvenience amd look forward to being back next week.
05.01.2022 Have you been using a portable pool to cool off this summer? Once you’re finished using the pool, as well as emptying it, make sure you pack it up and store it away - this helps to ensure the pool cannot fill with rain water or water from sprinklers, as well as making sure kids don’t have unsupervised access to the water. #SafeBarriersSaveLives Safetech Hardware Australia
