24.01.2022 'SAFE BARRIERS SAVE LIVES’ BACKYARD POOL SAFETY CAMPAIGN When it comes to backyard pool safety, the best offence is a good defence. Despite significant reductions in toddler drowning deaths over time, drowning continues to be one of the leading causes of accidental death for Australian children under 5 years of age. Statistics from the Royal Life Saving Society of Australia’s National Drowning Report show that in 2018/19, 19 Australian children aged 0-4 years drowned. The maj...ority of these drowning incidents (63%) occurred in swimming pools. Evidence suggests that a large number of drowning deaths are the result of pool and spa barriers that are faulty, or non-compliant with Australian standards. Kidsafe’s ‘Safe Barriers Save Lives’ campaign urges all pool and spa owners to check their barriers and set their backyard pool defence to assist in keeping children safe in and around water. 18.01.2022 Did your kids receive some new pool toys for Christmas? While they are great fun and will provide hours of entertainment over summer, it’s important to remember that they aren’t safety devices and should not be relied on to keep children safe. Make sure that children are actively supervised at all times when in and around water - for toddlers, this means having an adult within arm’s reach. #SafeBarriersSaveLives Safetech Hardware Australia

16.01.2022 For many of us, summer means BBQ’s, watching cricket on TV, having a hit in the backyard with the kids and cooling off in the pool. If you’re heading inside, even just for a minute to check the cricket scores or grab the snags, make sure you take the kids with you, or ensure there is another adult who is actively supervising them around the pool. 12.01.2022 Product recall - Polaris RZR Multi-Point and Four-Point Harness Kits. These recalled harnesses were fitted as optional accessories to certain Polaris RZR side by side vehicle models between 2015 and 2020 . They were fitted as Multi-point seat belt harness kits (Part numbers 2882244, 2882245) or Four-point seat belt harness kits (Part numbers 2882281, 2882282 and 2882709).... The seat belt harnesses may be missing stitching at attachment points. They may not properly restrain an occupant, increasing the risk of serious injury or death in the event of an accident. If you own a Polaris RZR with one of these fitted, you should stop using your vehicle and contact an authorised Polaris dealer to arrange for an inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the seat belt harness. https://www.productsafety.gov.au//polaris-sales-australia-

11.01.2022 During National Burns Awareness Month (month of June), Kidsafe Tasmania is encouraging parents and carers to download and use their Burns Safety Checklist to prevent burns around the home, and to ensure they are aware of the correct first aid steps to take in the event that someone sustains a burn: * Remove - remove yourself from danger. Remove any clothing and jewellery from the burn area unless well stuck to the skin. * Cool - place the burn under cool running water for 20 ...minutes. Never use items like ice, oil or butter as these can make the burn worse * Cover the burn with a clean dressing * Seek medical attention if the burn or scald is on the face, hands, feet, genitals or buttocks, is larger than a 20-cent coin or blistered. 07.01.2022 Even though summer is officially coming to a close, that doesn’t mean that water safety stops! It’s important that you still remain vigilant around water and c...ontinue to carry out your home pool defence, including active adult supervision of children in and around water, CPR/first aid knowledge and water awareness. Tell us in the comments below what you’ve been doing over summer to keep your kids safe in and around the pool #SafeBarriersSaveLives Safetech Hardware Australia
07.01.2022 Toddlers tend to be 'top heavy' which means they can easily fall over, including into a pool or other body of water, while exploring their surroundings. In 2019.../20, 3/4 of all toddler drownings were a result of accidental falls into the water. Even when you aren’t planning on going for a swim, if backs are turned away for a split second, children can accidently fall, trip, or slip and get into trouble.
